Everything was fine.

The heavy weight on my shoulders was finally lifted as my daughter Lylia opened her eyes. It was like everything in the world was finally right.

“Baby,” I wrapped her in my arms, wanting to make sure that this was real. That she was really awake.

“Mwommy,” Lylia said, her voice still weak, but I was glad that she was finally okay.

“Yes, baby,” I said as I checked on her. The door of her room opened, and Mika walked holding a bag of food that she got for us. Her eyes widened as she saw Lylia sitting up.

“Lylia, baby,” she said as she dropped the bag of food and rushed towards us.

“You’re awake,” she added. I didn’t miss the sound of relief in her voice. Mika had been my friend since Lylia was born. She was like Mika’s second mother. If there was someone I could trust Lylia with, it would be her.

“Could you get the doctor so he could check on her?” I asked Mika, who nodded, before turning around to leave.

The doctor made a thorough check on my daughter and d

“Lastly,” He looked me right in the eyes, letting me know that what he was about to say next was so important. “If your ring didn’t stop flashing its light… Run!”I stared at him, trying to see if he was making fun of us, but there wasn’t any hint that he was joking. “Why do we have to run if it starts flashing?” “It means that danger is about to come,” the Fae King explained. I have to admit, I was relieved when he offered to help us. But even now, he still hasn’t said whether he’s truly on our side. What’s keeping him from choosing? What’s holding him back?“Why are you doing this?” I finally asked. “Why help us at all?”The Fae King’s lips curved into the faintest smile, his eyes glimmering like starlight on the lake.“Because I wanted to,” he said simply.“Then why not join our alliance? Isn’t that the same thing?”“Like I said before, forming an alliance isn’t as simple as lending a hand to another species, the way your pack works with the werewolves. It’s far more complicate

My office back home is nothing compared to the Fae King’s office. Everything about this room screamed elegance and class; mine screamed paperwork, dust, and unfinished tasks. “Have a seat,” he said, gesturing towards the most expensive-looking couch I have ever seen. It makes me not want to sit on it. Mateo, on the other hand, didn’t seem like he cared. More importantly, he had been so quiet since we left the gazebo. I expected him to have a lot of questions, but instead of hearing him ask them, he just kept silent. At first, I told myself it was just another one of his moods. He had plenty of those. But deep down, I knew that this wasn’t one of them.“I will go straight to the point because obviously you don’t have enough time.” The Fae King said, snapping me back to the present.“We will have another discussion about the Alliance. For now, take this with you,” the Fae King handed me an onyx ring. “What is this?” I asked, looking it over closely. “It’s an onyx ring. But it’s not

Kelly and I have shared so many years, and through it all, I’ve watched her grow, change, and become someone even more amazing than the person I first fell for. I thought I’d seen just about every version of her there is, but I was wrong. She had every right to be angry with me for what I did to her and our daughter, regardless of whose fault it was. I knew that what happened broke something between us. I’m still paying for that mistake, and I’ve got no one else to blame but myself. After everything that happened with Merry, I hurt her in a way I never meant to, and I’ve carried that guilt ever since.I thought I knew what her rage looked like. I thought I’d seen it all before. But the way she’s looking at me right now? The way she’s talking to me right now. It's something I’ve never seen before.“Baby,” I called, watching as she exploded with fury. My voice felt heavy, like every word carried the weight of my mistakes. My heart was drowning in regret. If only I could turn back time

When my mom died, her body was never found. It was then that my father’s lies began. And even then, no one questioned what he had said because he was one of the trusted people in the pack at that time. I didn’t know until recently what really happened to my mother. After meeting Katherine, I realized the lies he had told, and I couldn’t believe he could do such a thing. And yet, here we are, in a place I once believed lived only in the fairytales my mother used to read to me. Standing beside her Fated Mate, the King of this realm… only to discover that all this time, her body had been here, hidden in plain sight.I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm seeing my mother like this, in a place I didn't even know existed just days ago.All of a sudden, I am full of different emotions that are about to burst out of me. I had all these questions that I was dying to ask, but my feelings were getting in the way so that I couldn’t ask them. Absorbing what was really happening t

He looked at us as we stared at the piece of chocolate, “Now all you have to ask yourself is, are you willing to die for the truth?”I looked at the chocolate and stared at it for a long time. If this had happened five years ago, I would have eaten the chocolate without question just to prove myself. Unfortunately, today isn’t five years ago. My present includes a charming and young daughter who isn’t old enough to fight for herself. I turned to check on Leo, and just like I was, he was also contemplating.“Just remember that if one of you didn’t eat it, you will never get to hear the story.”Leo and I stared into each other’s eyes, knowing that we didn’t have a choice. Because the truth is, we could now, or die later. And as lo

It was the first moment since we arrived that the Fae King seemed like a human, someone warm, even likable. The kind of man I could finally understand my mother falling in love with. Although what he said earlier was right, I just didn’t like the way he talked to us. Now, all that’s left is to hope that what he does next will finally be enough to redeem him in my eyes.We went to his office after breakfast. He said that he didn’t like to talk about politics, war, or anything that’s not related to food or life in the dining room. It was what my mother taught him, and he wanted to keep it that way. I wouldn’t deny that it earned him a point or two for what he just said. It made me wonder how my mother acted while she was with the Fae King and how the Fae King treated her. Remembering the garden, the hut gave me an idea of how deep their relationship might have been. I guess a part of me just wanted to see the look of happiness on my mother’s face because I never got to see it while she
