Yvette's POV

"A week is not enough," I whispered.

"What did you say?" Black asked testily.

His tone reminded me of how unpredictable he was. I shouldn't expect that there would be room for negotiation.

I blurted, "Nothing, thanks."

"Now you can explain something else to me," he said.

"What is it?"

"Who's the man you drew on the paper?" Black asked bluntly. "Don't tell me it's me. I'm not that ugly."

The sight of the drawing of Gerald stung me.

With a wry smile, I said, "Just a scribble."

To my surprise, Black didn't ask any further. "A warm reminder, you're the mother of my child. You'll be toast if I find out you have any entanglements with other werewolves."

I gave no reply.

Couldn't I be with my destined mate if I meet him one day?

Suddenly, Black tore up the paper in his hand with a look of disgust.

I watched as the drawing was ripped in half right before my eyes.

So gone were my memories of the six years I had spent with Gerald.
