Chapter 3

Penulis: Yumi
I looked up at him.

A smile hung on his lips.

"I know the pack rules—banished wolves can't return. But if you kneel and beg, I might consider letting you stay as a servant. You could wait on Tina—pour her tea, clean her rooms. It'd still beat living out there as a rogue."

Laughter erupted all around.

Tina was practically shaking with glee, her hand tightening on Jaxon's arm.

"Alpha, you're terrible. She was your mate once, you know."

Jaxon let out a faint, cold chuckle.

"She is not worthy."

He looked me dead in the eyes, enunciating every word.

"Alice, you shouldn't have come here knowing I'd be around. You attacked the heir, you messed around with another wolf—and now that you can't make it on your own, you come crawling back to me."

"You really think I'd go soft on you again?"

I felt nothing. Not a ripple. My voice was perfectly calm.

"Jaxon, I'm not here for you. I'm here to take my mate home."

"And for the record—choosing you was the worst mistake of my life. But thank the Moon Goddess, because she finally cured my blindness."

He froze for a second. Something dark churned behind his eyes before he laughed out loud.

"A mate? Have you lost your mind? A rogue like you—where would you find a mate?"

I didn't bother explaining. I turned to leave, planning to wait for Elias to finish.

"Stop."

Jaxon's voice came from behind me, sharp with command.

I didn't stop.

The next second, a hand clamped down on my wrist and yanked me back.

Jaxon's grip was crushing—it felt like my bones were about to shatter. His face twisted with disbelief that I'd dared to ignore him.

"Alice, I'm talking to you. You've really forgotten your place."

I looked at him coldly.

"Let go."

He leaned closer, a faint hatred burning in his eyes.

"And if I don't?"

His fingers tightened. Cold sweat broke across my forehead, but I refused to make a sound.

Tina sauntered over with a smile.

"Alpha, don't bully her. She looks pathetic enough already."

She reached up and touched the wolf crest brooch pinned to her chest, deliberately flashing it in front of me.

"Alice, this brooch is quite nice, isn't it? Thanks for giving it to me back then."

She pulled her hand back with a grin.

"What, you want it back? Too bad—the Alpha gave it to me. A rogue like you doesn't deserve something this fine."

Jaxon's voice came from above.

"Alice, you know what I hate most about you? This. Pretending to be strong when you're nothing. You think that makes you brave? Impressive?"

He gripped my chin, forcing my head up to meet his gaze.

"I loved you with everything I had, and you betrayed me. Don't try to tell me that male wolf never touched you."

"Tina's different. Her father is the Alpha of the South Ridge Pack. A she-wolf like her deserves to be my mate. She deserves to carry my pups."

  • Alpha King’s Mate, Not My Ex’s Servant   Chapter 9

Winter was quiet in the Silver Moon Pack.I stood on the terrace, a cup of hot tea warming my hands. This kind of peace was something I couldn't have even imagined three years ago.Back then, the first thing I did every morning was check whether Jaxon was still beside me.I'd convince myself that what he did with Tina was only because the Elder Council had forced his hand. Now, all I needed to think about when I woke up was what I wanted to do with my day. This was what a normal life felt like.Footsteps sounded behind me. Elias walked over and tucked my cloak tighter around my shoulders. The gesture was natural, effortless."Cold?"I shook my head.He looked down at me, his eyes warm."You've been sleeping well lately."I smiled and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth."Because you're here."Just then, a guard's voice came from the outer corridor."Your Highness."I turned. The guard's expression was conflicted."Jaxon, Alpha of the North Mountain Pack, is outside requestin

Third Person POVWinter came early to the North Mountain Pack that year. When the first snow fell, the flags over the mines had already changed. The North Mountain banner had been snapped in two. In its place flew silver and black—the colors of the Alpha King. There was no envoy. No negotiation. Just a single written decree. The North Mountain mines were now under the jurisdiction of the Silver Moon Pack for restructuring. When the news reached the pack, the council hall fell deathly silent. No one spoke.Because everyone knew why.Jaxon stood at the table, staring at the decree. The paper trembled faintly in his hands. He showed no anger. He said nothing. He just stared at those words for a very long time.Until the Elder spoke quietly."Once the mines are handed over, our people will struggle to survive the winter."Only then did Jaxon slowly sit down. His voice was barely audible."...Proceed with the transfer."No one dared say another word.Everyone could see—he had no choice.Thr

"Let's go."Elias took my hand.I nodded without sparing Jaxon another glance and turned to leave.Behind us, Tina's shrill voice pierced the air."Alpha! Say something! She's just—""Shut up!"Jaxon's snarl was raw and brutal, like every ounce of emotion had been forced through his throat and slammed down at once.Tina froze. It was the first time she'd ever heard him speak to her that way.I didn't look back.Elias led me through the crowd. No one dared block our path. No one dared lift their eyes.As we reached the edge of the camp, I heard whispers trailing behind us."That's really the Alpha King...""She's actually the Alpha King's mate...""Jaxon just tried to lay hands on her..."The North Mountain Pack's campfire shrank into the distance behind us. But Jaxon stood as if nailed to the spot.He stayed there long after the crowd had scattered, long after the fire had nearly burned out—until something seemed to jolt him awake. He turned and strode toward his pack.He didn't say a

Jaxon's face darkened instantly."You want me to kneel?"His voice was low and hoarse, simmering with barely contained rage.I didn't answer. I just looked at him.His chest heaved. His eyes bored into mine—then something shifted, turning calculating and vicious. He let out a cold laugh."Feeling pretty good about yourself right now, aren't you?"My expression didn't change. But his voice suddenly rose."Three years out of the pack and you managed to seduce the Alpha King?"The air went taut. Everyone kept their heads down, afraid to breathe.Elias's eyes darkened. But I smiled—a smile laced with frigid contempt.Seeing my expression only made Jaxon more agitated, as if he'd finally found a way to regain control."Drop the act. You left the pack and couldn't wait to latch onto someone more powerful."He was spiraling now."You said you weren't here to beg? Looks to me like you just found yourself a bigger protector."Tina latched onto his words like a lifeline, her voice sharp and eage

Firelight flickered. The crowd parted on its own, making way for Elias. My collar was still caught in someone's grip. Elias's gaze dropped to that hand. The next second—*Crack.*The sound of snapping bone was sickeningly clear. The hand holding me was bent backward. Damon let out a shriek and collapsed to his knees.Dead silence. The smile on Jaxon's face turned to stone.Elias removed his cloak and draped it over my shoulders, pulling me into his arms. His movements were unhurried, yet carried an absolute sense of possession and protection. The air froze solid. Someone's voice trembled."The... the Alpha King?"Jaxon's pupils contracted. His gaze dropped to the royal crest on Elias's chest. His face went white in an instant."That's impossible..."I straightened slowly, fastening the cloak, and let my eyes settle on Jaxon's face.Just moments ago he'd been towering over everyone. Now he looked like the blood had been drained from his body.Elias didn't spare anyone else a glance. He s

The laughter around us grew louder.A young wolf egged him on. "Alpha, why waste your breath on her? Either lock her up or throw her out.""Yeah—we've got real business to deal with. Word is the Alpha King's showing up today. First time he's attended a gathering like this. We need to secure his protection."Damon stepped forward, shoving at me."You heard them. Get out. This is no place for you."His push sent me stumbling, nearly falling.Jaxon stood there watching. Not a flicker in his eyes.Tina clung to his arm, beaming—like she was watching a show.Jaxon walked up to me and looked down."Alice, if you'd just behaved back then, it wouldn't have come to this. Even if I couldn't give you the Luna title, I would've taken care of you. But no—you had to go mess around with another male wolf."A flash of guilt crossed Tina's face. She stepped forward and took his arm."Alpha, don't bother with her. Let's go back—I'm tired of standing."Jaxon nodded and gave me one last look."Get lost. D
