Mag-log inAyla stepped in front of them “Run now” she shouted but it didn’t sound like her,she sounded like she had used a kind of power to command them, her sibling and Mara sprinted away instantly…Kael stumbled like as if she was trying to take control himself from the influence of her voice.
“Ayla,I can't leave you here with that thing”Kael said touching her shoulder
“That thing” the witch said laughing,as she laughed the trees shook as if they were scared too “Listen to her and leave, she is fine on her own”the witch said but Kael stood his ground.
Ayla gasped as she heard the witch voice in her head but it was not sharp like Thorne’s voice, it was low and sensual.
“You defend the wolf, you don’t belong with them no matter how much you run,you are still an outcast. You don’t even know the difference between real or dream, you saw witches by the border but you didn’t report to the right authorities because of a man you know nothing about, it is all your fault that the pack is under attack.” tears began to run down Ayla’s face
“Get out of my head”Ayla screamed and her voice echoed loudly throwing the witch backwards before she could even react,Kael grabbed her and took off with her.
After running for some Minutes, they caught up with the others,Elena hugged Ayla tightly
“I thought you already died” Elena said sobbing softly
“Why did you protect us that way,we are the ones meant to protect you not the other way round”Elliot said trying to sound strong but Ayla was too shaken to reply.
“We head east first. There’s a river, it should be able to cover our tracks. Then we head back to the pack house”
Kael looked at her, eyes wary. “You did well,” he said. “I don’t know how you did it and you don’t need to explain.”
Ayla didn’t answer. She had other thoughts. The flicker inside her was stronger now, undeniable and whatever it is that is changing or awakening it had begun tonight.
Ayla clenched her fists, staring at the river. The water reflected the first light of dawn, she looked so angry at her reflection. She was not just the girl who had been struggling to shift and whatever had awakened in her didn’t feel wolf-made, and she felt the witches would have recognized it as theirs either.
And if the Ring Coven thought tonight would break their pack, they were wrong.
Ayla stood at the riverbank with her wet hands and her body was starting to feel strange, she felt like she was tingling from within. For the first time, she felt like she had a purpose, she didn’t feel powerless.
Kael led the small group through the thick forest. The branches scratched their skin and clothes. Her pulse was steady now, her breathing was better and her senses had sharpened better. The thing she felt coursing through her veins wasn’t just adrenaline it seemed a little like awareness.
“We need to keep moving,” Kael muttered, his eyes scanning the shadows. “Witches rarely come alone. There may be more ahead.”
Mara fell into step beside him, with an alert posture. “And we risk returning to camp. The pack will hold together, but only until the next strike. They will want to move to Lunar sanctum,so we have to move fast and get there before they start to move”
Elliot and Elena were exhausted but trusting and following closely behind with Elliot holding on to little sister to make sure she was catching up. Ayla glanced at them, and for a brief moment, she felt her chest tighten “Do you think the twins are safe?” she asked quietly.
Kael frowned. “Peter and Priscila?”
Ayla nodded, her voice was barely audible. “I hope so. I hope nothing… happened to them. They were beside the Alpha... what didn’t get away in time?”
Mara exhaled sharply. “We shouldn't think about that now, we need to make sure we are safe first, then later we worry about the rest.”
Ayla paused a little "I know,” she said, though her thoughts drifted to her siblings. She imagined them held down in camp, trying to fend off any chaos, unbroken and unafraid. That thought made her feel longing and guilt for leaving them behind, although she doesn’t think they would care about her that much but still.
The forest grew darker as they pressed on. Ayla started working with purpose, her instincts were guiding her and then she suddenly felt a broken dizzy sensation, her vision began to blur, the trees seemed to move unnaturally and her hands were trembling. For a few minutes, she just froze, unable to move, her mind completely blanked out.
“Ayla? Are you okay?” Kael’s voice, sounding concerning, pulled her back.
Ayla shook her head, blinking rapidly. “I’m fine,” she said, forcing her voice to be steady. She said she was fine, but she knew she wasn’t. The thing inside her felt like a heartbeat of its own,and the way it took over her entirely, leaving her to be a vessel for something she didn’t understand.
Kael exhaled and he opened the bush to the pack clearing, some of the pack members had already gotten there.
Ayla looked around and exhaled when she caught sight of her parents standing beside her siblings–the twins,Elliot and Elena left their group and ran to meet them.
She walked forward too, turning back to look at Kael who nodded in acknowledgment.
What happened just now? What did I do?” Thorne Just stood there frozen, saying nothing she turned and looked at him, the expression is unreadable. "You compelled him" Thorne said softly "What do you mean compelled" Ayla asked looking confused "You controlled his decision" Thorne said slowly as if he too was trying to convince himself. "How? I didn’t do anything what did you do?" Ayla asked as she knelt on the ground “ I didn’t do shit, you spoke to them” Thorne snapped “what was that?” she demanded "what did I do him?" Thorne stared silently as if contemplating it he should reply or not "There are myths…Old stories about witches who could control people using nothing but the voice, the power randomly appears randomly amongst seven Elders family but since the war began it has not come up in any family" Thorne explained Ayla’s breathing began regulating
Ayla breath hitched in her chest. The Alpha king was in close proximity with her and she could feel his body heat despite the cold breeze blowing through the courtyard. His grey eyes piercing into hers with so much intensity that made her feel heavy“Looking for something?” he repeated but this time his voice Lacked the intensity it carried, his voIce was calm, too calm and it made her more uneasy.Ayla quickly composed herself, took a step backwards “Your Majesty,I think you are blocking my path” she replied carefully, trying to stare back at him with the same intensity that he was looking at her.The corner of his lips twitched slightly like he was amused“And I thought you were looking for your Little protector” Ayla confidence dropped.“W-what?”Ayla replied the last thing she wanted was for Kael to be on the Alpah King’s radar “Your Little protector, the one you were trying to hide behind earlier”he replied moving closer towards her"I think his name is Kael" Ayla shuddered
Thorne opened his eyes slowly,he didn’t know when he had fallen asleep,he looked down he and Ayla were tangled up together and he groaned as his heart fluttered, tapping her slowly to wake her up but she refused to budge and he had no other choice than to shake her to wake up.The moment Ayla’s eyes landed on their body she scrambled to stand up “I am sorry,I didn’t know when I fell asleep”Thorne said Apologizing to Ayla before she could say a word“You don’t need to be sorry or anything,I know you were exhausted, you do not need to hide your exhaustion from me or pretend to be fine.”Ayla said softly and Thorne smiled “Thanks,Little witch…so I guess I will see you in Lunar Sanctum tomorrow?”“Yes as much I do not wish to be there,The Alpha king hates me” Ayla said groaning exasperatedly amd Thorne expression shifted instantly but Ayla didn’t notice“What if he doesn’t hate you,he just doesn’t understand you”Thorne said defensively “Ohh,Thorne please I know the difference between hat
Kael walked up to Ayla,he had been trying to talk to her since the witches attacked but for some reasons he couldn’t like she was avoiding him.“Are you avoiding me?”he asked as she stood beside her…she looked shocked to see him like she wasn’t expecting him to be there“Avoiding you? No,why would be I avoiding you”Ayla replied “Well,For about two weeks now,you have been disappearing from the pack training,Like you have accepted the fact that you can never be a wolf”“Maybe I have accepted my reality, what made you say that though?”Ayla asked curious because she doesn’t want her identity to be exposed “Before you used to watch us train and shift, looking at us longingly like you wanted to experience it but now you don’t have even come for training at all”Kael said with a questioning look“Kael,I was not avoiding you,I have just come to a realization that I can never be like the pack…Be able to shift,go for pack runs and all. I am acknowledging my flaws”Ayla said as she realized this w
For two weeks now,Ayla had been training with Thorne and avoiding staying with the pack for too long since she didn’t know when her powers would manifest.Ayla didn’t know how but she always knew what time to wake up to train with Thorne, she had been training with him for weeks now and she was starting to doubt if she truly was a witch no matter how much she tried she didn’t know how to do shitAt least she was sure she wasn’t going to get caught since she left the pack as soon as it was time for the pack run and giving her circumstances—being unable to shift, she went back to bed but as soon as it was witching hour–1am, she was up and she would go to the usual spot where she met with Thorne When she had asked him why the pack could not find out about this place,he had simply said that he spelled the place. As usual,Thorne was already waiting for her at the clearing but today he wasn’t wearing any hood and she could see his hair, jet black in color just like the Alpha king’s hair.It
Ayla had not taken up to five steps forward when she fell backwards,Kael rushed towards her and caught her before she could even hit the floor.Ayla felt like she was sinking, she could hear Kael calling her name but she couldn't reply him and she fell hard to the ground, she opened her eyes.Ayla looked around slowly, she didn’t know where she was but she knew certainly that this wasn’t any where in Lunaria and the way it looked very lush, the Aura was very different but also welcoming, it didn’t look like anywhere in Lunaria and she looked back and a woman was standing there but the woman's eyeswere closed“I know you” Ayla said and moved towards her but it seems like as she called her, the more Ayla moved closer towards the woman the more the woman seems farther away from Ayla ,she knew that was her grandmother, her spirit just recognized the woman as her grandmother and the woman suddenly opened her eyes, they were green in colour … .no white parts.“You are here,” the woman sa
