Nirvana still had the sword in her hand. After the patterns on the blade lit up, something clicked.

“Did you hear that?” McKaye asked. He and Kailin took steps back away from Nirvana.

“Relax. It’s not Gabriel’s sword,” Dylan’s said.

I was impressed he knew a lot more than we did. Maybe it was fate, or that was why Nirvana’s mother advised her to learn about her ancestors so that her questions would be answered.

She then inspected the handle, which somehow had an almost unnoticeable gap between it and the blade. She pulled it apart, and the key fell on the floor.

“The key.” I picked it up. Thankfully, it didn’t electrocute me or burn me. It was a skeleton gold-plated key with a wing handle.

“Yes. Now, all we need is to find the blood dagger.”

“How do you expect us to find it, Dylan?” Kailin asked impatiently.

“We need a witch, and I happened to know a good one.” He picked up his phone. “I’m calling Zarah.”
