Chapter 4

Penulis: Alyssa J
I had to treat the wound on my neck. I didn't want to die.

I slipped through the side entrance of the medical center, avoiding everyone’s gaze until I found the ointment for silver burns. Just as I was about to leave, voices echoed from the end of the hallway. It was Domine.

He was carrying Ella in his arms, moving fast, with three medics trailing behind him.

"Hurry! Get the VIP suite ready!" Domine’s voice was thick with panic. "I want the best medicine and the best healers on this, now!"

"Yes, Alpha!" the medics scrambled into action.

They disappeared into the VIP suite at the end of the hall. I bit my lip, clutching my cheap ointment.

I crept toward the room and peered through the small window in the door.

Domine was lowering Ella onto the bed with agonizing care.

"Does it hurt?" He held her hand, his eyes full of heartache.

"It hurts..." Ella whispered, tears tracking down her cheeks. "Domine, it hurts so much..."

"It won't for long." Domine leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I'm going to make you better."

He turned to the staff. "Get the Moonstone Healing Essence."

A nurse gasped. "Alpha, that’s... that’s the most precious tonic . A single drop is worth a hundred thousand gold coins."

"I said get the best," Domine snapped. "I don't care about the price; I'll pay."

The nurse nodded and sprinted out. I ducked into the shadows as they whispered nearby.

"My god, the Alpha of the Moonlight Pack is so good to the future Luna..."

"I know. I heard that for his mate, he’s mobilized all the Moonlight Pack’s resources ... the gifts he's given these past few days alone are worth hundreds of millions..."

"I also heard he gave her Star-Moon Lake, the most beautiful spot on the Moonlight Pack's border..."

"He’s such a dominant Alpha! He'd give up anything for his woman!"

Their voices faded. I leaned against the wall, my nails digging into my palms. Star-Moon Lake. Domine had taken me there for my eighteenth birthday. We had watched the stars, and he told me, "Halen, when we have a home of our own, I’ll bring you to live here. This place belongs only to us."

Now I knew that place had never been ours. It was just another gift for Ella.

The nurse returned with the Moonstone Healing Essence. Domine took the vial and used a cotton swab to delicately apply it to the scratches on Ella’s arm.

"This might sting a bit. Hang in there," he said softly.

"Mm..." Ella bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "Domine, am I useless? Getting you this worried over such a small injury..."

"Don't be silly." He wiped her tears away. "You’re the woman I love. Taking care of you is my responsibility."

He continued applying the medicine with a touch as light as a butterfly's wing.

"Domine..." Ella suddenly caught his hand. A flash of calculation crossed her eyes, quickly masked by a pout. "I... I want the Moon-Tear Necklace."

The Moon-Tear Necklace. I’d heard of it. It took the most famous jeweler in the North three years to craft, set with a hundred and eight Moon-Tears—the most sacred gems for werewolves, capable of strengthening the soul. It was worth twenty million gold coins.

Domine went quiet for a second. "That's a bit much..." He frowned. "Ella, that necklace—"

"I know it's expensive..." Ella looked down, her voice small. "I'm sorry, Domine. I shouldn't have asked. I just... I just wanted something to help my wolf. Maybe then she’d have a chance to come back..."

She started crying again. "But I know I don't deserve it. I have nothing left. I'm just a burden to you..."

"You are not a burden." Domine sighed and pulled her into a hug. "Fine. I’ll buy it. I’ll head North tomorrow and pick it up for you myself."

"Really?" Ella looked up, her eyes gleaming.

"Really." Domine ruffled her hair. "I’ll pay whatever it takes to get your wolf back."

Ella threw herself into his arms, unable to hide her smug grin. "Domine, you’re too good to me..."

I turned away and slid down the wall until I was sitting on the floor. Twenty million. Just a casual gift for Ella. They say love is where the money is.

I looked down at my ointment— only fifty silver coins a bottle.

Why can Ella always destroy my life so easily?

I remembered high school.

Ella was the daughter of the former Elder on the Alpha Council, and I was just a scholarship kid from the bottom of the pack.

She hated that I had better grades, so she tormented me.

Dead rats in my bag, laxatives in my water, locking me in the freezing storage room overnight. Once, she pushed me onto silver equipment during training, burning my right leg so badly I nearly passed out. No one came for me. I spent three days in the infirmary, bandaging my own wounds in agony.

Later, I became a healer. When Ella ate that poison and was dying, I put our past behind me and pulled her back from the jaws of death.

Domine used to say he loved my "heart of gold." He said he loved my dedication to saving lives and my kind soul that remained pure despite the pain I’d suffered. But now, his eyes didn't see me anymore. He only saw Ella. He only saw the woman who used to torture me and was now framing me.

I stood up to leave. Just then, my phone vibrated. It was Emma.

"Halen!" Emma’s voice was frantic. "Something’s happened to your father!"

Six months later.I stand in the Grand Hall of the Palace, draped in my royal gown. It’s a pure, blinding white, encrusted with countless moonstones that shimmer like a dream under the chandeliers. I am heavy with child—eight months pregnant, nearing my time. But today is the day I am crowned Queen.Every **Alpha** in the kingdom is present. Representatives from other races have arrived as well—the Vampire King, the High Matriarch of the Witches, and the Elven Queen. It is a celebration of a magnitude the North has never seen.Lycan stands by the throne, holding the royal crown in his hands. It is a masterpiece of moonstones and diamonds, a symbol of power and grace."Halen Rhodes," Lycan’s voice booms through the hall. "As Royal Head Healer, you have saved countless lives. As my mate, you carry the future of this kingdom. Now, by my authority as Alpha King, I invite you to reign by my side as my Queen.""Do you accept?"I look at Lycan—at the warmth in his eyes and the sincerity of hi

Two years later.I stand on the podium of the Great Werewolf Medical Convention. Below me, medical experts from every race sit in silence, eyes fixed on my every move."This is my latest breakthrough—the Rogue Virus Purifier." I lift a crystal vial; the liquid inside glows with a soft, ethereal blue light. The hall erupts in thunderous applause. The Rogue Virus has been a nightmare for the werewolf world for centuries. Infected wolves either lose their sanity, turning into mindless killing machines, or they die in absolute agony. Countless healers have failed to find a cure. But I succeeded."This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of **Alpha King Lycan**," I continue. "He provided the research environment, the rarest herbs, and the finest team of assistants."I look toward the VIP section where Lycan is seated. He is smiling at me, his eyes overflowing with pride and love. Two years. We have been together for two years, and they have been the happi

Three days later. The High Tribunal of the Capital. The elite of the entire werewolf kingdom had gathered—**Alphas** from every pack, the Council of Elders, and members of the High Parliament. This was a public trial, for the crimes committed by Isabella Whitmore were too grave to ignore.Conspiring with **Rogues**, murdering a pack member, deceiving an Alpha, and attempting to assassinate both the Royal Head Healer and the Alpha King. Each was a capital offense.I sat in the witness stand. Lycan sat upon the high throne, his arm still bound in bandages. Ella was brought in, weighted down by heavy silver shackles, looking like a ghost of her former self. Yet, her eyes were still venomous as she locked onto me."Ella Whitmore," the Chief Justice read the charges. "You are accused of: One, conspiring with Rogues to murder a member of the Moonlight Pack; Two, deceiving the Alpha of the Moonlight Pack by usurping the identity of his savior; Three, the systematic bullying and framing of you

Three months later. My relationship with Lycan grew closer every day. He understood me, respected me, and supported me. He gave me a sense of security I had never known before. That day, I was in the lab researching a new potion, using moonstone powder as a catalyst."Halen, try adding this." Lycan handed me a small vial of silver powder.I took it, surprised. "Is this... refined moonstone?""Yes," Lycan nodded. "I had the royal craftsmen refine it specifically for you. It’s three times the purity of the standard grade.""But... this must have been incredibly expensive.""No price is too high for your research," Lycan said with a smile. "Try it. Let's see if it works."I carefully added the powder, and the potion reacted instantly. The dull liquid brightened, emitting a soft, ethereal silver glow."It worked!" I cried out, excited. "Lycan, look! The potency has at least doubled!""Good," Lycan said, watching me with pure tenderness. "If you’re happy, I’m happy."I looked up at him, my

One year later. The Royal Capital of the North.I stand in the grand assembly hall. Below me sit **Alphas** and Head Healers from every corner of the world. Their eyes are fixed on me, wide with awe."This is the new formula I’ve developed," I say, lifting a crystal vial. "Silver-Bane Purifier. It completely eradicates silver toxins from a werewolf’s system, even the deepest, oldest traces."The room erupts."Is it true?""Silver poisoning has always been our greatest threat!""If we can actually cure it..."I open the bottle and let a single drop fall onto the testing platform. The silver liquid shimmers against the moonstone."I extracted this from three hundred rare herbs. I will release the recipe publicly, but the refinement process is delicate. It requires a professional healing team."I look up at the man seated at the highest point: **Alpha King Lycan Blackthorn**. He is young, barely in his early twenties, with eyes that run deep. He’s watching me with admiration—and something

Three days later, Domine went to the dungeons. He wanted to face Ella himself. The dungeons were deep and dark, lit only by the flickering glow of a few torches. Ella was locked in the deepest cell, bound in silver shackles. Constant contact with silver drains a werewolf’s essence, rotting the flesh and making every second an agony.Ella heard footsteps. She lifted her head and saw Domine."Domine!" Hope flared in her eyes. "You’re here! I knew you’d come! You’re here to save me, aren't you?"Domine stood outside the bars, looking at her with eyes of ice. "Save you?" His voice held no warmth. "You're dreaming."Ella’s smile died."I’m here to tell you that in three days, you will be publicly executed," Domine continued. "In front of the entire pack. With a silver blade. It’s going to be slow, and it’s going to hurt. I’m going to make sure you feel every ounce of pain you ever caused Halen."Ella began to shake. "No... please... Domine, we’re mates! You marked me at the ceremony! We hav
