Bastien’s POV

I saw Alpha Soren standing with Kian and Angel. He did not look like a man who had just rejected someone. He looked comfortable. Calm. Interested. More than that, he looked like he was standing with people he respected.

That did not sit well with me.

A moment later, Soren turned his head and looked straight at me. His face did not change. Then he leaned slightly toward Angel and spoke, his voice clear enough for me to hear.

“Angel, your mind for logistics is still unmatched.”

Angle’s PerspectiveKian had said he would handle the rest. I thought he meant the investigation, but the next morning, he asked me to come to the training ground. He said I needed to clear my head, and Dana agreed before I could refuse. She said sitting indoors would only make me think too much. That was how Dana and I arrived at the training ground a little before noon. The place was already lively. Wolves moved in and out of the wide open field, some in training gear, some standing by the fence and watching. The dragon area was farther ahead, past the main ground, and it was louder because of the wings, the chains, and the handlers calling out instructions.Dana walked beside me and looked around. “It’s been a while since I came here.” I looked at her. “You still remember the layout?”She gave a small smile. “Enough.”We kept walking until we reached the dragon training areaThe sound there was different from the rest of the ground. A dragon’s breathing did not sound like anything

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 84 The Mastermind Revealed

Angel’s PerspectiveThe police station was still busy when the officer came back. Dana sat beside me, and Kian stood a short distance away. I had already given my statement more than once, but my body was still tense. The officer stopped in front of me. “Your complaint and the injury case will be handled at the same time.”I looked at him. “What do you mean?”“You reported attempted rape,” he said. “The two men were injured during the incident, so both matters will be processed together.”I understood. Even though I had defended myself, the injuries I caused were still part of the case.“What happens now?” I asked.“You can be released on bail while the case continues.”Dana straightened. “How much?”He gave the amount. Before I could speak, Kian stepped closer. “I’ll hand le it.”I turned to him. “No. I can pay it myself.”His face did not change. “Then consider this me saving time.”I wanted to argue, but Dana touched my arm. “Angel.”I stopped. The officer moved away, and Kian went

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 83 Set Up in the Bar

Angel’s PerspectiveI did not plan to stay out long that night. Dana had been with me earlier, but she left for something else, so I stopped by the bar alone before going home. The place was busy. Wolves were talking, drinking, and moving between tables. I chose a seat where I could see the room clearly. That was why I noticed the two men early. They kept looking in my direction, then started walking toward me. I had never seen them before, but the way they came over told me enough. They stopped at my table. One of them smiled. “You’re Angel, right?”I looked at both of them. “Do I know you?”The second man leaned on the empty chair across from me. “No. But we know enough about you.”I stayed seated. “Then say what you want and leave.”The first man laughed. “You’ve got a bad attitude.”“I’m not in the mood,” I said.He looked me over openly. “We can fix that.”By then, I knew this was not random. I reached for my phone under the table and opened the recording app without making it ob

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 82 Selling the Past

Angel’s PerspectiveAfter the school event, I turned my attention back to work.Hugo had already arranged another meeting and wanted me there from the start. This time, it was a meal with possible partners. When I arrived, Hugo was already waiting.“You’re on time,” he said.“I said I would be.”He smiled. “Come on. They’re inside.”He led me into a private dining room where two men and one woman were already seated. Hugo introduced them, then introduced me as part of the team. They looked at me a little too long.I knew that look. They were trying to figure out why I was there.I said nothing. We sat down, food was served, and the meeting began. Most of the talking came from Hugo and the others. I listened to the numbers, the route plans, and the timing.I did not speak much. But when I did, I kept it direct. One of the men said, “If the materials arrive through the southern line, we can cut labor costs.”I looked up. “Only on paper. If the materials come through the southern line du

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 81 Bastien Reaches Out

Angel’s POVThe other mother looked from Bastien to me, then gave an awkward smile. “I just remembered I need to check on something,” she said quickly. “I’ll go ahead first.”She did not wait for an answer. She turned and left, clearly wanting to get away from the tense mood between us.I did not stop her. Bastien also said nothing. He stood beside me for a moment, his face still stiff from what I had said earlier. Then the teacher gathered the parents and children and called everyone toward the activity area. The parent-child games were about to begin.Finn was already excited again. The earlier awkwardness had not stayed with him. He tugged at Bastien’s hand, then looked back at me with bright eyes.“Mom, watch us properly,” he said. Before I could answer, Bastien turned to me and said, “Record it.”He held up his phone toward me.I looked at it, then at him. “I’ll use mine.”His hand paused in midair for a second. Then he lowered the phone without arguing.I took out my own phone i

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 80 She Didn’t Take It Back

Author’s PerspectiveBastien sat in his office with his phone in his hand. One plan after another had failed, and now he had no choice but to keep asking people who did not want to help him.He called Hugo first.“Hugo, it’s Bastien,” he said. “I’m calling about the northern trade plan.”Bastien began to explain that he had already looked at the transport side and that Lilian was ready to take charge of the rest, but Hugo cut him off before he could finish.“Stop there, Bastien,” Hugo said. He had already made his position clear. He did not want to work with Bastien’s pack or with Lilian. He did not want to be involved with her.Bastien didn't give up. He tried again, saying Lilian had experience and asked Hugo to at least look at the figures.Hugo refused again. He said the figures did not matter if the person was wrong for the job. His answer was no. Then he told Bastien not to call him about it again. After that, the line went dead.Just then, his mother walked into the room. She h

Angel’s POVThe music slowed into something soft and I moved without thinking, letting the rhythm guide me. There was no audience now, no judging eyes or gossip.
