Angle‘s POV

Lily was five years old and approximately the most pleased with herself I had ever seen a child be. She stood with the water gun held triumphantly overhead, grinning with every tooth she had.

Then she saw Kian's face.

The grin went out like a light.

Kian already had his jacket off. He crossed the space between us in three steps and dropped it over my shoulders, pulling it closed in the front without looking at anything he shouldn't. It smelled of cedar and something warmer underneat

Bastien’s POVAfter the noise at the entrance settled, everyone started moving into the auction hall. The seats had already been arranged by name and pack. I sat in the front section with Finn on one side and Lilian on the other. From where people were looking, it probably seemed simple: a man, a woman, and a child sitting together like a family.Finn sat close to Lilian, still holding the small program booklet. He looked around with wide eyes, excited by the lights, the stage, and the items displayed behind glass. Lilian leaned toward him from time to time and spoke softly, acting patient and gentle.I looked across the room. Angel sat not far away with Kian. She was calm. She spoke to him once in a while, but most of the time, she looked at the stage and listened. She had seen where Finn was sitting. She had seen Lilian beside him. But her face did not change. In the past, if Finn showed too much care toward Lilian, Angel would become quiet. She would not argue in public, but I coul

Angel’s POVThe elevator stopped with a small shake and the doors opened.Bastien walked out first without looking back. His steps were fast, and his back looked stiff. He did not say another word to me or Kian.Alpha Yates stood there for a moment, clearly surprised and embarrassed. He looked from Bastien’s back to me, then cleared his throat. I had no idea your ex was Alpha Bastien. ” he said. “I hope I did not make things uncomfortable.”“I’m fine,” I said.He looked at me again, and this time his tone was more careful. “Still, I can understand it now. A woman as capable as you being Alpha Bastien’s former wife is not strange.”I did not know how to respond to that. Kian answered calmly, “Angel’s ability has nothing to do with who she was married to.”Alpha Yates paused, then nodded. “Of course. I meant no offense.”“I know,” I said.We exchanged a few more polite words. Alpha Yates said he had other guests to greet, then left first.Once he was gone, Kian turned to me. “Are you al

Bastien’s POVI stayed in the lounge after leaving the main hall. I told myself I was only taking a short break, waiting for the right time to leave. But the truth was that I had not been able to move far from where Angel was.I had seen her sit beside Kian. I had seen her speak calmly to Alpha Yates. I had also seen Lilian trying to raise herself by putting Angel down, only for Angel to answer her in front of everyone.Angel had not shouted. She had not looked hurt. She had simply answered and left Lilian with nothing to say. That bothered me more than I wanted to admit. A while later, Alpha Yates walked in and stopped when he saw me. “You’re still here?” he asked, clearly surprised.I looked up at him. “Is that strange?”He smiled a little. “I thought you left already. Or are you waiting for Miss Lilian?”“No,” I said at once. The answer came too quickly. He noticed, but he did not comment on it. I stood and buttoned my jacket. “I was just about to head downstairs.”At that moment,

Angel’s PerspectiveI had accepted Kian’s proposal. The thought still made me feel a little nervous, but I did not regret it. I had chosen him because he respected me and trusted me. He did not rush me or make me feel small. So when he invited me to attend the business party with him, I agreed. It was not an announcement, but it still felt like a new step for us.I arrived at the business party with Kian. The hall was already full when we stepped inside. People were talking in small groups, holding glasses, exchanging business cards, and watching one another carefully. People did not come here just to relax. Everyone had a reason for being there.I looked at Kian and said quietly, “Thank you.”He turned to me. “For what?”“For the introduction,” I said. “And for bringing me here.”“You earned the chance,” he replied. “I only opened the door.”I did not argue with him, but I still felt grateful. Without his introduction, I would not have entered this room so easily. I knew that. But af

Lilian’s POVKian adjusted his jacket calmly. “ I proposed to her a few days ago, and she said yes. ”A pause.Curiosity buzzed through the room like electricity. Then Kian said something that made my blood run cold.Could it be Angel? No way, absolutely impossible! As soon as he spoke, low whispers exploded across the room. Curiosity buzzed through the air like static, filling every corner.“Who is she?” “Is she beautiful?” “Is she married… or divorced?” Speculation rose one after another, thick with hidden gossip and curiosity.“ She was once married. ”Then Kian spoke, and his words turned my blood to ice.Someone gasped quietly, thrilled and alarmed. “Oh my god… could she be divorced? It couldn’t be…”Kian neither confirmed nor denied, but there was quiet certainty and warmth in his eyes as he said slowly:“I don’t care if she’s divorced. Some bastard didn’t know how to treasure her before. Fortunately, she walked away in time—and now, she has me.”The words echoed in my ears.Som

  • Alpha:No Second Chance   Chapter 91 Anger beneath the calm

Lilian’s POVAfter Bastien’s divorce, would he marry me?The answer should have been obvious. For three years, I had waited. Three years of patience, restraint, sacrifice. Three years of swallowing my pride, tolerating that woman’s existence in his life like an eyesore that refused to disappear. Bastien had always come back to me in the end. He had chosen me once before. He would choose me again. That was what I told myself. So when Elijah teased him about marriage, when all eyes turned to Bastien, waiting for his answer, I was already prepared to smile modestly, to play the role of the understanding woman who never pressured him.But Bastien didn’t speak, and the silence stretched.I watched his face carefully. His brows were slightly drawn together, his gaze unfocused, as if he were looking at something far beyond the table, far beyond this room. And in that instant, a horrifying thought pierced me.He was thinking about Angel. That bitch. The realization hit me like a slap. Heat r
