Emberlyn:

‘ $7200’ the figure echoed again and again in my ears as my pen drummed on the table right in front of me.

“He’s here,” one of the students raised in the full biology classroom, and I watched everyone take their seats and arrange themselves in expectation of the new biology professor.

I was at my usual spot at the front row of the class, my books in front, as I waited to be done with the last class.

When he walked in, some sort of quietness followed immediately and then slow and steady whispers.

One glance at him and a shiver ran down my spine as recognition hit me. The same eyes from last night. The darkest and perfect shade of gray. The same lips that kissed me until I was breathless.

I couldn’t stop looking at him. My eyes traced every inch of his body.

The black suit he wore clung to his perfectly built body. Hair brushed to the back of his neck. Strong jawline, he’d ground his teeth and I’d remember him groaning as he fucked me. The man from last night was my biology professor? He didn’t look a day over twenty-eight.

I swallowed hard when I looked down at him and remembered how his cock had filled me up.

Jeez, Emberlyn. I’d nearly smacked my head.

The whispers still went on, I wasn’t the only one checking him out. He was hot and I was in trouble because I’d fucked my professor.

“Hello, everyone. My name is Jaxon Sullivan. Professor Sullivan to you and me, and I’d be your Professor for Organic Biology.”

His gaze fell on me, and recognition settled in. One second he was staring hard and the next he was back to teaching.

I could barely comprehend. My heart hammered against my rib cage and my thoughts were haywire. What would he think of me, that I was some slut. How would I face him in class? Biology was my major course, I could not afford to miss a class.

My muscles tensed when the class drew to an end. I had arranged my bag and hung it on my shoulder, waiting for his last words so I could run out of the class.

“That’s all for today, your assignments will be emailed to you.”

“Red-haired girl,” he pointed at me, and at first I thought it was someone else but I was the only one with red hair in class.

The class erupted into a moving volcano with noise and chaos as other students walked out.

“Red hair,” he said again, this time staring right at me.

My heart reverberated from inside and I almost convulsed in fear.

I walked, slow calculating steps to where he was.

The class was almost empty.

“Follow me,” he ordered, just like he’d ordered me to go down on him. He didn’t wait for my reply, he walked and I followed. Slowly, sluggishly.

He’d opened his office and walked in and the cold air from his air-conditioned office slapped me right in my face.

He sat on his chair, eyes on me as I closed the door behind me.

“Raven,” this time, it wasn’t a shiver running down my spine, it was my wetness growing just by him calling my name.

“My name isn’t Raven,” I replied sharply.

“My mistake, Miss Vale.” He swirled on his chair, His eyes locked with mine. How did he know my name?

“Or do you prefer I call you, Emberlyn? Seat.” Another order. My fist grew colder as he went on. He knew my name.  Not that it was anything special but I didn’t tell him.

“How do you know my name?”

“Oh, Miss Vale. I know a lot about you, Sit down.” He pointed at the chair opposite him and I carefully sat, squeezing the strap of my bag for maybe comfort?

“Do you want some water?” He asked

“No. Why have you called me here?”

“To talk,” his eyes didn’t leave mine, it felt like he was trying to cast a spell and heaven it was working because I could barely think straight.

“To talk about what?” I asked.

He stood from his chair and walked until he was right in front of me.

“Emberlyn, do you really not know what I want to talk to you about or do you need me to remind you?” His hand reached for my waist and he picked me up from the chair and slammed my ass right on his desk, pulling himself so close to me.

He lowered himself to my bare neck, slowly sniffing and then his lips landed right there on my neck, wet and soft.

“Do you need me to remind you how many times you came last night?” A soft moan escaped my lips when his kiss trailed from my neck down to my chest.

His lips found mine, aggressively kissing me. His tongue slips into my mouth and his teeth slowly drag on my lower lip.

“Ahh..” Another moan left my mouth, my wetness grew and I slowly arched my body forward.

My hands dug into his shining black hair, as he worked on my buttons, undoing them.

He cupped my boobs with his huge hands and I kissed him even more.

“You want more don’t you..”

Emberlyn, be mine. I want to own all of you..” Wet, shivering whispers left his lips.

“I… “ I paused realizing what I was doing. I was making out with my professor in his office.

I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him away from me.

“No, we can’t. I mean, I can’t .” I  climbed down the desk, arranged my clothes in a few seconds and grabbed my bag from the chair, and ran out of his office.

I didn’t slow down until I was out of the university. My heart rammed against my chest.

What was that Emberlyn? What did you do?

I checked the time on my phone and it was 4:30.  I had to get to work before I was late. Even if my life was a mess right now, I still needed to work.

I was working evenings at Dine Hart, one of my many part-time jobs.

I picked the last plate from the empty table and took it straight into the kitchen.

“That’s all, Kim.” I smiled halfway as I dropped the dishes in the empty sink.”

“How’s Mila doing, we’ve barely got to speak today,” Kim asked as she got the dishes done.

“Yeah, today was packed but Mila is doing okay, the doctor explained she’s healing really fast.”

“That’s great to hear.”  She smiled, finishing up the last dish and putting it into the huge industrial dishwasher.

“You should head to the hospital now, and please get some rest. You look drained.”

“I will.” My eyes wandered around the kitchen to see if there was any work left to do.

“Yeah. I got this. Good night.” Typical Kimberly, she was always present. It was what I loved about her. The fact that she always had my back.

“Kim. I’ll head out now.” I hugged her and quickly walked out of the diner heading to the subway station.

As I walked through the empty alley, humming my favorite song as company, a shadow passed quickly behind me and when  I turned my back it was gone.

My walk continued briskly,  the song still in my mouth.

I was following the short roads instead of taking a cab, which would be expensive. It was risky, Mom had told me all the time but I seemed to have mastered it. I  turned into the next alley on my right.

“Hello, Emberlyn ..." Someone came right in front of me, startling me. His eyes were green and they glowed in the darkness. This funky smell enveloped him.

“Who are you?” I took a step backwards.

“You don’t need to know that.” He cackled.

“How do you know my name?”

“Long story,” he laughed.

He grabbed my hand and it almost burnt or it did and I was just too scared to realize his touch burnt me.

“Don’t touch me, I yanked my hand away from him, turned back to run but he caught me in two long strides. His hand was holding my neck tight while he pointed a gun at the side of my head.

“Another step and I’d blow your head off..” Tears slowly gathered in my eyes and my whispers grew into sobs.

“What do you want? My phone my bank card, take it and let me go..” I begged.

“Sweetie, now why do you think I need those. I need you to shut up and start walking to that van.” I looked ahead to the darkened alley and saw the vehicle at the end.

“Walk,” he commanded and my shaky legs dragged me slowly, my head still pointed with a gun. I was scared to death but I couldn’t run because he had a gun.

“Let her go or I'll blow your damn head .” A thicker voice, stronger. The sound of a gun cocking followed and slowly his grip on my neck loosened. He turned swiftly to give the man pointing a gun at him a punch but the man was swift to knock him out with a gun right on his forehead. He fell to the ground and I ran.

I ran for my dear life but as I ran,  body collided with huge warm body and my heart harmmerd. They were going to kill me.

“Emberlyn.” His voice was warms and familiar.

Prof. Sullivan.

“Come with me, I’ll take you home.”

Jaxon: I didn't just lead her into the bedroom, I practically shoved her through the door, the wood slamming shut behind us with a crack that echoed the drumming of my heart. The room was dark, lit only by the moonlight filtering through the curtains, but I didn't need light. I had her scent, sweet, heady, and laced with a desperate hunger that mirrored my own. I pinned her against the wall, my mouth crashing onto hers. It wasn't a gentle kiss. It was a collision. I tasted salt and heat, our tongues warring for dominance, sucking and swirling in a frantic exchange of saliva. I tasted her lipstick. She tasted even more delicious than the lipstick. My hands ripped at her clothes, the fabric groaning under the strain of my grip. “I can't," she gasped, breaking away for a fraction of a second, her chest heaving. "I can't breathe, Jaxon." “Then don't breathe," I growled, my voice a low vibration in my chest. “Just feel this." Her breasts spilled out, nipples already hard and p

Jaxon: The aftermath of the gala should have felt like a victory. Instead, it felt hollow. I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of my office and stared out at the city below. Traffic moved through the streets in neat lines. People rushed to meetings. Businesses opened their doors. Life continued as normal but mine didn’t. A knock sounded against the door. “Come in.” Lewis stepped inside carrying a tablet and several folders. Unlike me, he looked energized. The gala had given us exactly what we’d spent two years trying to achieve. Access. The kind of access capable of destroying an empire. Lewis closed the door behind him. “You look terrible.”I didn’t turn around. “Good morning to you too.” “I’m serious.” “I slept.” “Barely.” That part was true. The night had been long. My thoughts had been longer. Lewis dropped into the chair across from my desk. “The operation worked.” I finally turned. His grin widened. “The operation worked.” I walked toward my desk and sa

Emberlyn: The moment Elias wrapped his arms around me, I felt how tense he was. Not the polished, composed Elias everyone knew. Not the confident athlete who always seemed to know exactly what to say. This version felt different. His grip was tight, almost desperate. For a second, I simply stood there and let him hold me. Partly because I was exhausted and I knew he had genuinely been worried. But mostly because I was trying to understand why Jaxon's warning refused to leave my head. Elias isn't who you think he is. The words sat inside me like a splinter. I slowly pulled away first. The movement seemed to surprise him. For a moment his hands lingered on my shoulders before he let them fall. His eyes moved over my face. Checking me and making sure I was really standing in front of him. "Are you okay?" His voice sounded rough like he hadn't slept. I nodded. "I'm okay." Relief flashed across his face. The expression looked genuine which only made things more confusing. Behind us,

Emberlyn: Jessica’s father’s proposal sat on my desk like a loaded weapon. I still hadn’t answered. I hadn’t accepted nor declined. I’d simply let it sit there. Unfortunately, everyone seemed determined to force the issue, including Lewis. “From a strategic perspective, it’s worth considering.” I looked up from the file. Lewis sat across from me with entirely too much confidence for someone who wasn’t the one being offered up for marriage. “Strategic you say huh?” “Yes.” I leaned back and he continued. “A marriage alliance creates political cover.” I remained silent. “It strengthens connections.” I was still silent “It could make dismantling Edison considerably easier.” I closed the file. “Are you finished?” Lewis sighed. “No.” Of course he wasn’t. “Look, I’m not saying you should do it.” “Good.” “I’m saying you should consider it.” The distinction wasn’t nearly as meaningful as he thought. Marriage wasn’t a business arrangement to me anymore. Yea

Emberlyn: We smelled of each other. That was the first thing I noticed when my brain finally caught up with my body.
