Drake POV
We had just finished searching the first location with no luck. Maddie’s scent was faintly still there. At first, I had been so excited and convinced she was there, but someone had spread enough of her scent around to tease our senses.
I was at least hopeful we were on the right track in trying to find Maddie. Alpha Samuel had been discouraged when we hadn’t found his sister there. We had tried tracking her phone, but her phone had been turned off and anything we could use to identify her location had been removed from the phone. We would keep checking in case it got turned back on again.

Kate POV Moving toward the conference room, I see both Alpha Reid and Beta John sitting at the table discussing the rogue they have in the cells. As I move forward, I notice Reid is sitting to my left and John to my right. I start business off as it should be started, I invite Alpha Reid to sit at the head of the table. He is confused and trying to refuse but I won’t take no for an answer. “Alpha Reid, Beta John, I have something I need to discuss with you both today and I want complete honesty from you,” I start. “I have come to realize a few things about myself. Drake POV We walked as far as we had to get to the where the SUVs were waiting. I offered multiple times to carry Maddie, but she refused, thanking me just the same. Her feet were bare; Jasmine had offered to give her shoes to Maddie but again Maddie declined. She was being incredibly strong for everything she had been through. We all walked in silence. Drake POV As we move towards the bathroom, Maddie starts stripping off her clothes. She must have thrown her undergarments out because she was bare beneath the scrubs. As wolves we are used to being naked and we should be comfortable in our own skin. But this was the first time we would see each other naked. She was beautiful. The cuts and bruises pissed me off. Knowing what she had endured, and that Marsha had had a hand in it kept bringing my wolf to the front in anger. I was still thrown off with Maddie’s scent not being there. Drake POV As soon as we finished eating Maddie fell fast asleep. She asked me to stay. This is the first time I have had her in my arms for the night. I want to say it was perfect, but missing her scent threw me off. Some of it lingered from showering with her bodywash but it wasn’t the same. Drake POV The ride over to Kate’s Pack was tense. I could feel the anger rolling off Maddie as we drove. She had been ready when I got back to our suite; however, she hasn’t spoken to me since I went to get her aside from yes or no replies. I knew she was hurt with the answers she received but I couldn’t change my Alpha’s mind and I agreed with him. We needed more information. Drake POV “Maddie, what the hell was that?” I asked pulling her back away from Kate as she tries to swing her foot to kick her in the stomach. Kate was quickly back up on her feet and stepped back avoiding Maddie’s leg. Drake POV “How long were you going to let me look like a fool?” Maddie asks me. I look at this woman in front of me. I can see her anger and hurt, but I have no idea how to help her. “Maddie, you don’t look like a fool,” I start to say as she huffs. She’s standing off by the wall now and I cannot reach her. I stand to move toward her, but she starts to move clearly indicating there is a line in the sand where she doesn’t want me to cross. “I’m the fool. I should have told you sooner, and I most definitely didn’t want you to find out from someone else,” I assure her. Kate POV I would have liked to have spoken to Colby before meeting with Reid’s and my fathers; however, I hadn’t heard from him, and I refused to call him again. I could only hope he had seen through Josey’s tricks, and he was fixing things before he called me. As I entered the conference room, I saw Alpha Reid sitting there with his father beside him, former Beta Ralph Thompson. As I sat down, we waited for my father to make his grand entrance.
