When she poured Rina’s tea, she bent slightly, her voice soft with false sweetness. “My lady, shall I add more honey for you today? You look a little pale.”

Rina managed a faint smile and murmured, “Yes, please.”

Theo caught the exchange out of the corner of his eye. His grip tightened on his cup until his knuckles whitened. Anger stirred in him—not at Rina, but at the ease with which Samantha slid into the spaces where he should be.

Breakfast ended with barely a word exchanged. Rina excused herself early, her skirts brushing lightly against the floor as she retreated. Theo remained at the table, staring at his untouched plate, shadows darkening his features.

And Samantha… Samantha bowed politely, hiding the smirk that tugged at the corner of her lips.

The rift she had sown was growing.
