A Visit From The Past

Miranda's POV

For a minute, I thought he was shocked that I had made that decision, maybe he cared for me.

He seemed so surprised, it could be that he was never expecting me to be brave enough to nurse myself out of his emotional abuse.

I was certain Darren didn't love me, his heart was beating for no one else but Vivian.

Even in her absence, I couldn't even compete with her, the mate bond wasn't even strong enough to make him want to look my way like I was a female.

A female that he was mated and married.

Deep down, the thought that I knew that once this was done there was nothing like regret even though I was already feeling empty.

I had rather have a life than stuck myself to the hip with someone that didn't even love me.

It took me a pretty long time to realize that Emerald was right and it was time to change my life, the right time to move on.

"Okay!" I heard him say and if I wasn't certain at first that he didn't want me, I was now.

His shock and the look of surprise on his face made me hopeful that he care for just a minute.

"You know what, let's do it now" He added.

"Get dressed, I will do so too but in the guest room".

I nodded before dragging my feet into the bathroom.

Upon sinking into the tub, my subconscious mind flew back to when I was fifteen.

The memories I had tried to suppress flooded my mind and images I didn't want to see flashed in front of me.

The video of how I was being chased by dark rogues was played.

I had been framed and the fear and adrenaline pumping through my veins filled with the will to live caused me to step into a territory I knew nothing about.

Upon running a few more miles into the territory I blacked out.

It could have turned bad for me but luckily when I woke up, I found I was in a shadow pack and it was Darren's father who saved me.

With all my memory loss from my fall and brain stress, Darren's dad had treated me like the daughter he didn't have, he also gave me a new name.

Upon finding out I was Darren’s mate, he happily let us get married even if he knew at that time Darren didn’t like me at all due to his relationship with Vivian.

On his deathbed, he had begged me to help Darren guard the Shadow pack.

Darren didn't want me beside him, I couldn’t fulfill my promises to him anymore.

It was time to leave here and I was so sorry I choose my happiness over his death wish.

A bang on the bedroom door snapped me back to reality, "I hope you didn't commit suicide in the bathroom".

I almost thought that he was joking until he added, "And I also hope you aren't thinking about backing out because I really can't wait to get this done with"

My heart broke a thousand more times.

I sighed and washed off before stepping out with a towel wrapped around my body.

"Be downstairs in 5" He ordered before leaving the room, without wasting time I was indeed down in 5.

In silence, we drove to the park house. "Wait here, I'll assemble the elders and make this simple and easy for you".

I nodded and did as he has ordered, it was surprising that the far that I wanted a divorce made Darren say more than five sentences to me in less than five hours.

"Let's go" I heard him say and I followed suit.

"Miranda" I heard the head Epsilon call out drawing my attention to face him, they were all present, Epsilons, Thetas, his Beta, and Gamma.

I knew they were probably rejoicing in their minds because it was no secret that they detested me so much.

I on the other hand didn't care, all I wanted was to get this over this and move on with my life.

"Darren' said you asked for a divorce you wanted to be done as soon as possible too," the head Epsilon said staring at me.

"Yes"

"Are you sure that this is really what you want Luna Miranda?" I heard Carl, and Darren beta ask.

"She is," Darren said with a tinge of excitement dancing on his tongue.

"You do know that once this is done, you lose your position as our Luna?" I heard another Epsilon ask.

"Why do you keep bugging me like you don't want me out of your hair?"

"I want this over as soon as you can make it."

"Alright then, it's quite simple you will just have to reject each other since you haven't gone through the mating ritual"

I turned to face him and with a smirk, he said "I, Alpha Darren Thane, reject you Miranda Adams as my mate and Luna"

Emerald winced but the full-blown pain I was expecting to hit me as he said those words didn't.

Rather it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, I felt as free as a bird."I, Miranda Chase, Luna of Shadow Moon pack, Reject you Alpha Darren Thane as my mate and Alpha"

My heart thumped hard against my chest as I said those words, I could see the pain morphing in his face.

I wanted to do it last so I could see this trophy look he blessed me with.

I was ready for the blow as Emerald already hated him but he didn't seem too ready for the pain of breaking our bond.

The Epsilons read out what is to follow and honestly, they didn't need to waste their saliva...

After the divorce I knew there was no way that I was going to stay with him, I would have to find my way.

When they were done, I left them refusing Darren's offer for a ride home.

"Rudy didn't sound so happy" Emerald commented, "do you regret it?" I asked her instead.

"No, we deserve far better than him, it's too bad his wolf wasn't the one always in control...trust me Benau is a sweetheart"

"If I didn't know better I would say you are beginning to care" I teased Emerald making her huff and sink back into her shell with a promise to get back at me.

As I strolled around, I fose when a very familiar car stopped in front of me.

A Bugatti La Voiture Noire.

It smelt of wealth and Dad. It became a question of Flight or stay, I choose flight, and just as I was about to break out into a run.

"Running isn't going to fix anything" I heard my father Beta say making me stop to look at him.

The tinted glasses had been winded down and I was staring at Michael in person.

"Aren't you going I come in or are you scared of something?"

I rolled my eyes and entered, ignoring his taunts.

"Fancy seeing you here, to what do I owe this honorable visit of yours"

"Miranda"

"What do you want Michael? I'm not a fan of surprises"

"It's been three years and from the look of things your plans aren't working out just like you had hoped"

"What...what are you saying?" I asked shocked, there was no doubt that my divorce had just happened a few minutes past and was no longer a secret.

But the fact that my father had sent Michael here, meant he was also aware.

"You seem quite surprised Miranda"

"How did you know? I mean how did he know? If this is all about returning home, count me out of it, I'm not"

"You seem to have grown a sharp mouth, your father is no mere Alpha and I'm certain you are aware, your life here for the past three years has been tabulated"

"The goddess knows how much restraint he held unto to avoid snapping off the head of your ex-husband"

I sighed, "You should understand my refusal to go home, it's dangerous for me...if it happened right under his nose six years ago, it could happen again"

"I am still investigating the person that framed me that year and I suspect that he/she is in the pack"

He nodded in agreement before handing over a black card and a file to me, in which a contract was contained.

"What's the catch? You are giving me a black card so there has to be something he wants"

Wow not even half way thru ch 2 and this seems like a chore to read. So far, it's just like The Millionaire and His Billionaire Ex-Wife only w/ wolves. (3yr unhappy marriage, apparent mistress, night of sex FL is blamed for, family-based danger in her past). Yawn
