The next morning, I said to Alaric, "Let's go to Frostmoon Pack together."

His expression froze for a moment, his jaw clenching visibly before he quickly regained his composure. His eyes darted to mine, searching for my intentions.

"Why the sudden interest?" he asked, voice carefully controlled. "I thought you were tired."

I met his gaze steadily. "It's my family too. I want to see them."

He hesitated, fingers tapping rhythmically against the breakfast table. I could sense his wolf's unease, his energy shifting uncomfortably in the room.

“But...”he hesitated, then sighed. "They're also celebrating her pregnancy. I didn't want to tell you because I know how painful that would be for you."

Finally, he refused to take me with him. I nodded silently in agreement, but deep down, I sensed he was hiding something beyond not wanting me to disrupt Eliza's special day.

But I didn't care about his concerns anymore. I just wanted to see my family one last time. So after he left, I secretly made my way to Frostmoon Pack.

After all, tomorrow I would be preparing to leave forever.

When we arrived at the Winters family home, the celebration was already in full swing. Cars lined the driveway, and cheerful chatter spilled out from every window.

I spotted my parents across the room, their faces alight with pride. They hadn't even noticed my arrival.

In the center of it all stood Eliza, glowing in a flowing white dress that accentuated her slightly rounded belly. She was surrounded by admirers, their voices carrying across the room.

"Your healing skills will strengthen our pack for generations!"

"Such brilliance at your age—truly remarkable!"

"I heard you'll definitely give birth to a powerful Alpha! The moon goddess has blessed you!"

Their praise seemed endless, each compliment making Eliza's smile grow wider, her hand resting protectively over her stomach.

Before anyone spotted me, I noticed Alaric entering, carrying a small ornate box.

My heart stopped when I recognized that box.

It was the special container I had commissioned to preserve the Moon flower herb—the rare, miraculous plant that could repair damaged wolf.

Three years ago, in a rogue wolf attack, in order to save Alaric, my wolf was seriously injured and could no longer get pregnant.

This Moon flower herb is the only hope to repair my wolf. I had spent three years tracking down and paid ten million dollars to acquire this herb.

Alaric had insisted it would be safer to keep this herb in his Alpha office safe. But last week, he claimed that this herb was stolen during a rogue wolf attack.

Eliza's eyes gleamed as she opened the box, gasping dramatically at the sight of the glowing blue herb inside. "Oh, Alaric! A Moon flower! How did you ever find one?"

The gift box in my hand fell to the ground, making a noise, and everyone realized that I was here.

Alaric's face drained of color when he saw me.

I ignored him and ran directly to Eliza, trying to take back my Moon flower herb.

Before I could reach them, Eliza quickly turned away, pulled out the precious Moon flower herb, and to my horror, fed it to the small dog beside her.

"No!" I screamed, lunging forward.

The dog swallowed the herb with a happy yip.

Eliza turned back to me, her eyes wide with practiced innocence.

"Sister!" she called out, voice honeyed but eyes cold. "What a surprise to see you here."

"Thank you, sister. I heard you spent so much time looking for this herb to give to me. My little pet dog was dying and really needed this herb."

I moved toward the dog, my fingers trembling slightly.

Eliza intercepted me, her voice dropping to ensure only I could hear. "Thank you, sister. My dog has become much stronger after eating it."

I gave her a cold look, about to speak when suddenly she cried out:

"No—!"

She stumbled backward dramatically, her body crashing into the decorative candles on the display table. The flames barely touched her dress, singeing just the hem, but she clutched her stomach and collapsed to the floor, her face contorted in theatrical pain.

The room immediately erupted into chaos.

"Eliza is pregnant! How could you push her into the fire!"

"Someone get healing salve, quickly!"

In the midst of the confusion, I heard a panicked cry: "Eliza!"

The voice cut through the chaos like a knife. Others might not have noticed, but I recognized it immediately.

It was Alaric.

He knelt beside her, cradling her head with a tenderness I hadn't seen in months.

His fingers trembled as they brushed her hair from her face, his voice breaking as he whispered, "Are you hurt? Is your pup safe?"

When he finally noticed me watching, Alaric quickly attempted to regain his composure. He straightened his shoulders and adjusted his expression to one of calm authority.

He turned to me, his tone gentle but reproachful: "You shouldn't have come here. I knew you would cause trouble."

His eyes darted between Eliza and me, conflicted yet accusing. "Regardless of anything else, Eliza is carrying a child. You shouldn't have pushed her into the fire. How could you be so cruel?"

I stared at him, my voice eerily calm. "If I hadn't come, I never would have known that my Moon flower herb wasn't stolen by rogue wolves at all. It was given to Eliza's dog."

He stiffened slightly, a muscle in his jaw twitching before he responded with practiced innocence: "The Moon flower herb was stolen by rogue wolves. I just happened to find another one yesterday. You're strong enough right now—you don't need the Moon flower herb immediately."

Seeing my ice-cold gaze, he grew flustered. He reached for me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. "You're my Luna, the only one I love. I promise I'll find another Moon flower herb for you, no matter the cost."

I laughed coldly, saying nothing more.

He was right about one thing. I didn't need the Moon flower herb anymore.

I had planned to use it before our fifth anniversary, to heal my damaged womb so I could surprise him with a pregnancy—the family he had always wanted.

Now I realized that even our bond was a lie, making my all effort meaningless.

I smiled and didn’t say anything. My wolf and I were in perfect agreement: we would punish those who stole what was ours.

Alaric seemed to notice something different about me, something that made him uneasy. He suggested:

"Why don't we leave now? Find somewhere quiet to relax."

I looked up at him, my lips curving into a slight smile: "Let's go to the hunting grounds in the Northern Territory then. We can hunt under the night sky and watch tomorrow's sunrise."

I looked at him, my voice calm yet resolute: "Alaric, no matter what, those five years are gone. Even though I'm still alive, I feel... you're no longer my choice."The color drained from his face, but I continued. "Don't force me to view everything we had as a mistake. Or would you prefer I were truly dead so you could finally let me go?""Don't!" He cut me off abruptly, his eyes filled with profound grief, his voice pleading."Amara, I was wrong, truly wrong. As long as you're well and don't leave me like this again, I... I can step out of your life."His expression made me pause momentarily before I softly replied, "Good. Then I want you to let me go completely."He remained silent for a long while, bowing his head as if finally understanding something. "I'm sorry," he said hoarsely. Then he turned and left, his departing figure defeated and lost.Mason comforted the children and other patients, ensuring no one was hurt before approaching me. Her words shook me to my core, but I quickly composed myself, saying coldly, "Alaric, I've already died once. Just pretend I'm truly dead and let us both move on.""No!" He jerked his head up, his voice tinged with desperation. "Amara, I can't! Even if you hate me, despise me—hit me, curse me, anything—but don't tell me you're really gone. I'm begging you, please come back?"My chest ached with heaviness, but I responded calmly, "Alaric, you never wanted me. Our beginning was a mistake."He shook his head, his tone resolute. "That's not true. I was the one who was wrong! I was such a fool. Only after you left did I realize how important you were to me!"Seeing that Alaric was completely ignoring her, Eliza suddenly snapped. Like a madwoman, she pulled out a silver dagger from nowhere and charged at me. "Amara, die!"I didn't even have time to react, but Alaric immediately stepped in front of me. He took the stab meant for me, groaning in pain as he collapsed to the ground."Stop!" Maso

Mason rushed in.Without a word, he pulled Eliza away. She struggled briefly, then turned to see who it was. Suddenly, she laughed coldly. "Well, well, Amara, that didn't take long. Already seduced someone new?"Her mocking gaze swept over Mason and me before she loudly declared, "I always told Alaric you never truly cared for him! Look how quickly someone's defending you now, though he wouldn't believe me! This is your true nature!"Mason frowned, positioning himself in front of me, his voice stern. "Miss, show some restraint. This is a place for healing patients. If you want to cause trouble, go elsewhere, but don't frighten the patients and children."Eliza paused momentarily, but quickly recovered, her face full of contempt. "Who are you to her? What right do you have to talk to me about restraint?"Ignoring her madness, I gathered Caleb and the other children, softly reassuring them. "Don't be afraid. Teacher is here. Everything's fine now."Watching us, Eliza seemed unable to con

"Since you recognized them, you know exactly whose potions they are," I spoke calmly, though my tone carried a hint of mockery. "How dare you show your face here?"Eliza's face instantly turned ashen. She snarled through gritted teeth, "Amara! You worthless bitch!"She approached step by step, her eyes filled with hatred, as if she wanted to tear me apart. "You think creating new potions will redeem you? Keep dreaming!"I ignored her hysterics, focusing only on protecting the patient behind me."If you have something to say, we can discuss it elsewhere.""Elsewhere? How convenient for you!" She laughed scornfully. "If it weren't for you, how would I have fallen so far? My research was rejected, my reputation destroyed, my parents practically disowned me! And even Alaric..."Her voice faltered at mentioning "Alaric," her hateful gaze fixed on me. "You think you've really won?"The children studying with me cowered behind me, frightened by her outburst.I extended my arm to shield them,

I worked through the night, losing myself in the familiar rhythm of experimentation. Under the microscope, fluorescent blue werewolf serum intertwined with herbal reagents, spinning into spiral light patterns in the centrifuge tubes as I carefully documented each reaction. When dawn broke, I had successfully developed a new werewolf power enhancement potion that could increase a Beta warrior's strength by 50% for short periods without any of the usual side effects of strength serums. The vibrant cobalt liquid glowed faintly in its vial, representing breakthrough healing science. As I held it up to the morning light, I suddenly understood—becoming the best healer in the werewolf world wasn't for Alaric, or for recognition, or for anyone else. It was for myself. It always had been.I submitted my research anonymously to the Medical Summit, using only my new identity. Three weeks later, to my astonishment, I received notice that my potion had received the highest recognition from the All

Later that week, I found myself scrolling through news updates while waiting for my students to arrive. A headline immediately caught my attention: "Alpha Alaric Blackwood Preparing to Step Down as Leader of Blackwood Pack."My finger hovered over the screen momentarily before I tapped the article, telling myself it was merely professional curiosity about pack politics. The lengthy report detailed Alaric's recent unstable behavior and deteriorating leadership. According to pack insiders, he had become withdrawn and erratic since my "death," neglecting his duties and spending hours alone in the Northern Territory."Sources close to Alpha Blackwood confirm he's already begun the process of transitioning leadership to his cousin, Damon Blackwood," the article stated. "The official ceremony is expected within the month."The piece included a photograph that made my breath catch—Alaric standing at the exact spot where I had supposedly died, his back to the camera, shoulders hunched beneath

Despite my words, I still found myself opening my phone that evening, fingers automatically typing "Alaric Blackwood" and "Eliza Winters" into the search bar. I told myself it was merely curiosity, not lingering attachment, that made me seek out news about them. The screen filled with recent headlines and social media posts. My thumb hovered hesitantly before tapping on the most viewed article from the Werewolf Alliance News Network.Someone had captured photos of Eliza exiting her family's mansion. She looked nothing like the radiant, confident woman who had stolen my research. Her hair hung limply around her gaunt face, dark circles prominent under her eyes. She clutched a folder against her chest like a shield as she hurried to a waiting car, head down to avoid the cameras. No admirers surrounded her now. No sycophants praising her "brilliance."I scrolled further, reading the article's harsh assessment of her fall from grace."Former research prodigy Eliza Winters faces complete

Once, I had believed my healing gift was meant for the spotlight, for recognition and awards, for benefiting the entire werewolf world through groundbreaking research. Now, I only wanted to live quietly and teach a few innocent children the art that had once been my passion rather than my hiding place.A month after my "death," the Beta wolf who had helped orchestrate my fake demise paid me a discreet visit under cover of night."Alaric Blackwood has been looking for you," he informed me, accepting the tea I offered with a grateful nod."Looking for me?" I laughed softly, the sound hollow and empty. I stirred my own tea, watching the leaves swirl. "I'm already dead. What does he want with a ghost?"The Beta—Kane—shifted uncomfortably in his chair. "He refuses to accept your death. He's been to your old clinic at least a dozen times, interrogating your former staff. He's tried to contact all your former friends and colleagues."A flicker of unease passed through me. "Has he found anythi

The timed upload of the recording was my final "testament," my farewell to this absurd soul-bond that had brought me nothing but pain. I had scheduled multiple videos and documents to release over the coming weeks, ensuring Alaric would face a slow, relentless unraveling of his carefully constructed facade. When the first video unleashed a storm of public outrage across werewolf social platforms, I was already far away, sitting in a modest cabin in a pack territory three hundred miles from my original homeland. I watched the chaos unfold on my tablet, notifications flooding in as wolves from every allied pack viewed the evidence of Alaric's betrayal and Eliza's theft. Comments piled up by the hundreds:"How could Alpha Blackwood allow this to happen?""Poor Luna Amara, betrayed by her own mate and sister!""The Frostmoon Pack has lost all honor!"I closed the app and set the tablet aside. These strangers' outrage meant nothing to me now. Here, there was no family obligations, no Alar
