"Alpha." A teary faced guard who met with him as he crossed into the main house anchored on each side by his Beta and Gamma respectively.
Zachary scanned the area in one swooping gaze but nothing gave him the answer. Unable to ignore the question that stuck in his throat, he voiced out almost immediately.
"What is it?"
"La…lady Elsie." He stuttered.
Zayn didn't wait for any more words as he shoved the guard to a side and dashed into the house in the direction of her fading scent. He flung the door open and for a moment his heart stopped when he saw her. She was struggling for breath.
He swallowed hard and suddenly his legs became too heavy for him to carry as he approached her on the bed.
"Za- Zachary, I waited for you." A small weary smile curved on her lips as she held out her frail hand to him.
Zachary watched her inhale her last breath before going limp in his arms. He clenched his fists in anger and let out a deep growl into the air causing everyone in the Pack house to shiver in fear.
It was like a dream. His only sister now laid before him lifeless. Pain cut through him like a two edged sword as he vowed right there by her bed.
"I will make them pay. Every single witch there will die with my name rolling off the slabs of their tongues as they beg me for mercy."' He muttered out those words as a promise to his dead mate.
***************
The sound of barking dogs filled the air and Zachary's hair was whipped back by a cold wind that left his teeth clattering. The sense of impending doom rested upon him thickly like a wet blanket, and while he was not usually one to ignore his instincts, he had no choice but to do so.
He would repay them back in kind. They were only a few miles away from Ayrwood now, but the closer they drew to the community, the more his subconscious pricked at him. He felt uneasy. His gut told him he was headed into something bad.
His hatred was a driving force that fueled his anger, propelling him forward with record speed. His men followed closely behind him and once they reached the community, blood sprayed. There were cries, there were pleas for help, and there was so much blood.
Only, it wasn't the witches who bled. Zachary suffered the dream of watching his men die before his eyes at the hands of skilled witches who fought just as savagely as his wolves did. The witches were prepared and their numbers were great. Far greater than the men he had brought with him.
But it was no dream. Warm blood splayed on his face as a sword went through the throat of his Beta, Lucien, who had thrown himself in front of Zachary to protect him.
Zachary bellowed, swiping for the head of the witch who had stabbed Lucien. Her head came clean off, but Zachary hardly noticed as pain ripped through him when he caught the body of his fallen Beta. His best friend.
And for the first time, tears filled his eyes as he watched Lucien cough up more blood. His throat was ripped and he could hardly speak a word. Soon, his brown eyes turned unseeing and vacant and Zachary roared in outrage.
He finally looked up from his friend's body, watching his men get hacked into pieces by the vicious magic of his foes. The battle was over sooner than he expected, and there were countless swords pointed at him and the rest of his men who had been forced into surrender.
A sword rested against his throat and he looked up to find old grey eyes peering down at him with hate. "To think you can come into my territory and attack my people..." Her voice trailed off and her eyes skimmed the field of dead bodies that were mostly his men. "I have never been graced with the presence of an Alpha as stupid as you are."
Hate darkened Zachary's eyes as he took in the Head Witch, Anastasia, and he bared his sharp canines at her, releasing a vicious growl that was loud enough to shake the earth underneath their feet. "I will not rest until I have avenged their deaths !"
The old woman scoffed, regarding him with a gaze that was sharper than an eagle's. "You would need to get out of your cage first to do that, Alpha."
Her head jerked to the witches that had lined up behind her, all dressed in black tunics and pants. "Bind them and take them to the dungeons!"
Suddenly, Zachary's arms moved of their own volition, and his eyes widened in horror as they snapped behind him, held back by invisible hands.
He roared, thrashing and kicking violently, but he was soon subdued when five witches merged their powers to restrain him. And as Zachary was led away to the dungeons with his men in tow, he couldn't help but think the last thing he had seen in Lucien's eyes before he had died was a betrayal.

Zoey Keystone ran her fingers through her hair. It was going to be another hard day. She could tell from the stench of blood and death that coated the air. She had always hated the war with the wolves. She hated always having to clean up the gore and the blood, feeling a sense of kinship with them.
It was why she scowled the entire way from the kitchens to the dungeons as she carried the food for their new prisoners. Anastasia, her mother, had given her the order to have them fed, believing none of the maids would be able to handle the prisoners--and she had been eager to do it, needing to help in any way she could.
"I hear there is an Alpha among them," a maid said excitedly behind her and Zoey rolled her eyes. What Alpha would be stupid enough to walk into witch territory, only to get himself captured? Surely, no one was that stupid.
But it would seem she was wrong, because as she reached the last dungeon, five witches stood by the door, faces etched with fatigue and pain.
She paused before Lorna, who was the strongest witch after her mother. "What is it?"
Lorna frowned, trying not to break her concentration. "The Alpha won't stop resisting. He is wearing us down. I've never met any wolf this strong, Dia."
Zoey peered into the dungeon and in the middle of the cell sat the most magnificent man she had ever seen.
Chapter twenty-nine: Mistress Of Seduction. Zach's eyes were fixed on the woman lying on his bed, her scent crawling into his every cell, all the cells in his body acknowledged her, they were aware of her tempting body, aware of her every curve, her boobs swell and darn it! He quickly turns around, he's not supposed to be thinking about her in that way, he's not supposed to care about how sexy she was looking, how much he wants to have a feel of her body, how badly his fingers itches to touch every part of her body... He fucking wants her, he wishes to have her but he would never have her. Not because he's unable to but because he had decided not to. His mother was right about the mate pull, it is irresistible, it's something that's hard to defy but he shall defy it. He can never have Zoey despite wanting her so much. His wolf whined but he ignored him, he turned around to wake her up, and give her a sound warning never in her pathetic life should she step into his room but when h
Chapter twenty-eight: Tempting Zoey... "Mom, I told you, I'm well. Can I go to bed now, please?" Zach asked his mother who was keenly observing him. Zach's eyes trail to that of his mother's and a low sigh escaped his lips when their eyes locked. He was a t a loss for what to say or do. "Honey, I don't want you to think that I'm snooping into your life. Even if I'm doing that, it's for your best, you're my son and I have every right to be worried about you." She explained calmly and a smile graced Zach's face. He looked relieved now He doesn't know what or how to make his mother believe that he's well, those stupid pack members have ways of spreading rumors, it spreads faster than a communicable disease. He doesn't know what to do when it comes to their gossip, it was becoming annoying but there's nothing much he can do about it. That's a natural talent the goddess had bestowed upon them. It's actually doing more harm than good to him, now he has to listen to his mother's di
Chapter twenty-seven: Tempting Bed. Zoey's eyes were fixed on Zachary's room as she cleaned the floor, it was her turn to scour the whole house pack tonight and she must testify that it's one of her best yet worst jobs in the pack. It was best because she gets to clean the whole place during the night when there'll be few people stepping on the place she'd already cleaned and worse because she won't be sleeping early. After the incident this morning, gossip was following her everywhere she went. It astonished her that they thought she'd charmed their alpha. Like seriously? Had she charmed him, she wouldn't be a servant here. Had she used magic on him, she would have made him pay dearly for ever messing with her and her people. They had such a great misconception about her and she couldn't help but find it funny because whatever they were thinking was wrong, totally erroneous. She would never have been here right now had she not done something stupid as trusting a man! She'd have
Chapter twenty-six: Relief And... Fear. The whole atmosphere became extremely apprehensive after everyone saw the alpha slap a warrior in the pack in front of the pack members all because of a servant, just because of a mere servant who wasn't even a wolf, the alpha had angrily slapped one of his best warriors because he'd misbehaved with her. The servants in the pack are like prostitutes and many wolves take them for pleasure without their authorization. There has never been a case where a servant would reject the advances of any privileged werewolf to lay with her, such servants that got such advances become happy because there are always advantages that come along with having intimacy with high-ranking wolves, any servant considers herself lucky if any high ranking wolves look their ways. But here is Zoey, she's not even a werewolf, she's a core enemy of the pack, her family had killed many in the pack and the Alpha favored her by making her a servant and she's still putting her
Chapter twenty-four: Enraged. The slap echoed in the room, her breath uneven, anger ripping every part of her body apart. How dare he!? She might be a servant here but that doesn't make her a prostitute like the rest of the servants. "You bitch! How dare you!?" The man that got slapped cussed and made to grab her but she dodged and went to the other side of the room. She immediately changed her mind about dodging him because he can speed up and strangle her to death with the way he was staring at her now. She was about to rush out of the room when she felt something hit her leg and she fell to the floor, a scream escaping from her mouth. Zach's head turned towards the direction he heard a scream, he wasn't the only one that heard it, everyone in the cafeteria heard it as well but only he knew that the voice belonged to Zoey. He stood up from his table, his beta stood up too wondering what was up with Zach. As much as he wanted to ignore the voice and pretend that nothing was hap
Chapter twenty-four: Indirect Protection. The pack's cafeteria was huge and beautiful. Zach might be an asshole but he takes care of his people and his people love, fear, and respect him. Zoey took in a deep breath as she made her way into the cafeteria, she was in charge of cleaning the whole darn cafeteria today and she knew the pack members in the cafeteria would make her day miserable by creating unnecessary mess in the cafeteria. Immediately she steps into the cafeteria, hateful glances are shot towards her, if looks could kill, the ones they've been given her would kill her within seconds. She made her way to the cleaning room to grab the cleaning equipment and set to work. It has been two weeks ever since she started working as a servant in the pack and those two weeks were hell on earth for her, even her fellow servants despised her, she'd made a few friends but they only talk to her secretly for fear of incurring the wrath of pack members and fellow servants. Zoey tried t
Chapter twenty-three: Her Fate. Zoey was halted in the middle of the ball, all eyes were on her, most depicted hatred while some showed a hint of admiration and then hatred when they realized who she was. She looked up despite trying hard not to and their eyes locked, she eyed him warily. This was a frightening man; she trusted him at her own peril. Best to keep silent and wait for his justice. She immediately looked down, trying hard to control her heartbeat, they are werewolves, she shouldn't allow them to smell her fear of the unknown and uncertainty in her destiny. She must wait patiently and see what blow destiny had to offer her this time around. She was aware, all the while, that Zach and everyone watched her. His face was dark with hidden thoughts, a brooding intensity that made her uneasy. What was it about him that always makes her uneasy? Shook his thoughts out of her head. Brace yourself Zoey and stop being a chicken. She cautioned herself and she felt herself relaxe
Chapter twenty-two: What's Her Fate? Zoey ignored most of the pack members staring at her in disgust, she was used to their looks of mockery and hatred ever since she came into the pack, the pack healers refused to heal her a few days ago when she was brought for treatment. People used to give him disdainful looks but they never do it much in the open because there was one person within their midst that loved her and that was Anastasia, she'd always been there for her to shower her with love and care but here in this pack, not a single soul liked or pitied her. They looked like they wanted to kill her at any slightest opportunity they have but they could not because their alpha hasn't decided her fate. Most hauled abuses and curses at her, they wish her the most painful death and destruction... She ignored most of the curses because they do not and can not have any effects on her, she did nothing to them nor does she wish them harm. When she doesn't have any ill wishes against the
"That's not the only reason I'm keeping her here." He announced and everyone turned to give him their full attention. "She needs to stay here because I need her." He added and that only heightened the confusion of everyone present. Why would the Alpha need a petite witch like Zoey? A deep murmur began between the elders and Zach looked at them with a satisfied grin on his face, he loves it when he causes some confusion among them. Create a riddle their wise brain can't solve, he's the only one who could clear their misunderstanding. Just him. Lucifer looked at the alpha, he cocked his eyebrow when he saw the smirk on his face, he was enjoying the confusion he'd caused. Now he understands why his father called him a demon incarnate. "Enough!" A loud order came from him and everyone in the hall went silent, heads turned to look at him. "Why do you all keep arguing amongst each other? I'm the one you all need to ask but you all are asking each other." He s
