SAM'S POV

This was the only opportunity to present myself before Killian's pain-in-the-ass subordinates came into the meeting. I knew he wasn't coming, he looked pretty beaten up, I would have to say.

I let myself into the conference room, watching as the elders murmur between themselves. There was still a bit of time before Killian was supposed to show up, or in this case, his representative, and that would be enough time for me to plant my idea in their heads. Some of their heads at least.

"I see brother is still out there dealing with his mate," I uttered clearly, catching their attention. All of them pretty much continued doing what they were initially doing before I interrupted, but Elder Kael frowned and curiously asked.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Perfect, I just needed one person to ask that.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just noticed how distracting she was to him, you know. I think it will be best if he toasts her away."

"A mate can't just toast their mate away like a piec

CELESTE'S POV"I don't want you to go." I lamented, clinging onto his arm like my life depended on it. Well, technically, it did rely on him. "Just close your eyes and get some sleep, I will be back before you know it." He chuckled and tried to pull his hand away but I held on to it quite tightly. In reality, he wasn't making any attempt to get away. "I won't be able to. What will you be doing outside anyway? It's already nighttime. Can't that wait until the next day?" I was pathetic, I know, but I also didn't want to be away from him, not even for a second. "I told you we caught a prisoner of war, she's an important one and I need to make sure she is secured under lock and key. She's going to try to escape. We can't afford that." I groaned without speaking. There was nothing else left for me to say. His excuse is one hella important one and I can't talk him into ignoring it until the next day. "I promise I will try as much as I can to shorten my time outside, I will be back befo

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 125

CELESTE'S POVTo say I was nervous would be an understatement. I was worried shitless. I have seen how rogues fight even though they are on their enemies' territory; I can't imagine how well they would fight if they were on their land."Can you take a breath and let your shoulder rest from carrying that burden? I promise you they are going to be fine." Flora was feeding her youngest a few feet away from me in the kitchen. On a normal day, she would have left them with a maid back in their house to care for them, but since Selena kidnapped them, she has been very paranoid about being away from them, thus why she brings them in to work every day."I just can't help it, Flora, I can't help the worry."

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 124

KILLIAN'S POVWe got to them quicker than I expected. They were stupid enough to camp not far away from our border. And they sure as heck weren't expecting us. "Any suspicious movement from them warrants an attack, the minute you spot it, attack them," I spoke through the mind link while we circled the rogues. They might be expecting us, but it was clear they weren't expecting us this early. Well, they should have known that no one touches what's mine and lives peacefully to see the next day. They continued to snarl, the healthy ones among them standing guard, while the wounded pushed deeper into the forest. I am going to kill them, every one of them. Joan took position in front of them, just like my wolf took position in front of my army. She's waiting for something, maybe a sign from us, before they attack too. But whatever it was, she had messed up whatever foundation of trust we had managed to build; she crushed it, and I will crush her. No one betrayed me and got away with it

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 123

KILLIAN’S POVI should have known Celeste was too damn stubborn for her good. Thankfully, the wound wasn't that deep and I had her mended almost immediately. I knew next time, to keep her under lock and key. Or she will end up being the dead of me. “I won’t call what happened out there victory, they left, we didn’t drive them out.” I declared, adrenaline still pumping through my veins. We retreated back to the estate after they left, and I had just called in for an urgent meeting. We lost more than a dozen weak wolves, and that is saying a lot. They had really planned this attack, and by all indications, everything worked well for them. I still believe that they didn't retreat because they were overpowered; they headed out because they had managed to fulfill what they came for. I still don't understand why Joan would act this way when the last time we spoke, we were trying to ally against Sam. The fact that Sam had dropped everything and returned home must have irked her. That was

CELESTE’S POVI knew I stood no chance against them. I was going to end up in the pool of my own blood before I even make any attempt at attacking. So there was only one logical thing left for me to do.Put some distance between us.I wasn’t retreating like a coward, I was only doing what every logical werewolf with no wolf would do. Had it been I was able to manifest my wolf, I am sure I would have faced them without thinking twice. Until then, I only follow logic.I took a single step back, and they immediately covered the distance I created. It was as if everyone else was in their own world, and this is mine, faced by five gigantic rogues.

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 121

CELESTE'S POVI didn't leave. I couldn't find it in me to leave him out there fighting alone while I was tugged in safely behind the locked door and key like a damn princess in distress. I am not a princess, so I sure as heck won't let my distress be handled by another, not even my mate. Flora refused to come with me even though her mate was out there, too. She said, "Any day you have kids, we will have that conversation." I wasn't trying to judge her or anything, but how could I survive in here knowing my mate is out there risking his life? It's best that she stays anyway. I wouldn't have been comfortable with leaving the kids all by themselves, even though I was more inclined toward calling a maid to stay with them. After we reached the room, I turned back and returned to the ceremony ground, where the chaos had doubled, if that was even possible. Even though the whole place was marbled with carved stones, the amount of dust around made it impossible to see beyond my stretched h
