KILLIAN'S POV

"Respectfully, Alpha, don't do something that would be a mistake at the end. It's hard to believe you think I have any part in this. I mean, come on, it's me, Victor!" He jolted up dramatically, opening both his hands as if that was supposed to establish a point. Logan barged into the room almost immediately, probably triggered by Victor's dramatic voice.

"Is everything okay around here?" He looked from me to Victor's standing form, then focused his eyes back on me for explanation.

"Yeah, we are just having a much-needed conversation." I clarified without giving away anything.

"I will linger around then, just in case." He looked like he didn't believe we could co-exist, and he would be here to step in just in case we didn't.

"There will be no need for that, Logan. I need to be alone with Victor. This conversation warrants that." I nodded firmly toward him, and he shrugged.

"If that's the case. But I will be outside, just in case you need anything." He didn't wait to

KILLIAN'S POVWhen the guards walked in with Logan behind them, Victor was still on the ground, heaving and yelling for whatever reason, I have no idea."Seize him and put him in the dungeon. No one is allowed to communicate with him until I state otherwise." I looked straight ahead as I declared, refusing to look toward Logan. As much as Logan isn't a people person, I couldn't deny the fact that Victor had grown on him over time, and this will come up as a hefty shock to him just as much as it was to me.He remained silent, though, and only followed the guards with his eyes until they had walked out of the room with Victor, who was still wailing like his world had just ended. Well, technically, it just did.

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   CHAPTER 162

CELESTE'S POVI woke up to an empty room, much to my disappointment. I thought Killian would be beside me, judging by what I had gone through last night, but I didn't put into consideration the fact that he had responsibilities to tackle. While he dealt with his responsibility, I decided it was the best time to also deal with mine, even though my chest still felt heavy from what I witnessed last night. Venessa. She called out for me.She thought I would show up and save her. But I didn't, I failed her. I clawed at my heavy chest, desperate to get rid of the ache buried in it. My eyes stung, but the tears wouldn't even fall. You would think I have gotten better, but this feeling was worse than crying. Being choked by grief and guilt, and having nowhere to escape to, no comfort to run to.It's terrible. Extremely horrendous. After a quick shower and a change of clothing, I head out to tick off obligations on my to-do list. I started with the doctor's quarters. Never been there, but

KILLIAN'S POVI didn't react outwardly. I only nodded and said. "That will be all for today. I will take everyone's suggestion into consideration." Everyone began to disperse, and I added. "Victor, wait behind, we need to talk." A few minutes later, the room was empty, and only Victor and I remained. Logan had hesitated to leave, but I stood my ground, hoping in my head that the suspicion I had in my mind would turn out to be a complete misunderstanding. I can't deal with the disappointment, no, not from Victor. I walked to the large bar at the adjacent wall from where I was seated. Choose a good bottle of wine and two cups, then return to the table. With no sense of urgency whatsoever, I popped the wine open and poured the red liquid into the cups, then pushed on toward Victor. I picked up my glass and casually leaned back into the chair, but my eyes were predatory, set on Victor, all while he avoided looking me in the eyes. "Interesting that you brought up Oakmarsh. I didn't k

KILLIAN'S POVThe meeting today was held in the fortified war room beneath the council hall. This room was used when more important private matters would be discussed. As I strolled down the path that led to the marbled door, I conflicted within myself whether to bring up the topic of my mate being attacked last night. At the end, I decided against it. I wasn't only going to make her look weaker than most of the elders already assumed, I might be feeding information to the traitor if in case he is among us. My entry was met with murmurs of greetings as everyone got up as a sign of respect. I nodded dismissively and plunged myself down onto the chair, and everyone soon followed my action. We dove into the meeting almost immediately. The atmosphere was tense, the information I had dropped on them last night still lurking in their heads. "Even the traitor was playing along." I thought silently in my head as I watched Logan spread the map across the large table. My calculative gaze sk

KILLIAN'S POV"Celeste?" I called gently, moving close to her with a pounding heart. I put my hands gently on her cheek. She flinched at first, then melted into me when she realized who it was. Her body folded into mine, not in a way that shows she wants comfort, but like she needed me to hold her shattered pieces together before she disintegrates completely.I let her cry. Though my heart aches to stop the tears, to find out whatever had put her in this condition, and destroy it. To promise her safety and protection. But I remained silent. She needed to let it all out, and that's exactly what she did.Time passed, I couldn't tell for how long we had been standing there in each other's arms, but when she finally recovered, she whimpere
