Brea’s POV

It had been a few months since I returned to the castle with my parents. We reconnected almost instantly, as if we had never been apart. With their love and patience, Leon’s death had become… a little more bearable.

I video-called Loriah every day, and Sister Nora stayed with me during the first weeks of my return. Even Claire, Marcus, and Draco had been a source of comfort.

But it didn’t hurt any less.

Leon had been dying… and I blamed him.

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    104. Roja Sangre Pack

Brea’s PoV Roan’s pack was massive, nestled deep within the wild forest. From the sky, the mansion at its center looked magnificent. The smaller houses scattered around it resembled pebbles against the vast wilderness. Roan and Dad had agreed it wasn’t safe to reveal my true identity, so I arrived as Brea Mae, attorney at law—not Princess Brea of Savery. “Watch your step,” Roan said as he helped me down from the jet. I wobbled slightly. I really shouldn’t have worn high heels—but they were practically all I owned. Roan chuckled, clearly catching on. “I’ll take you shopping for boots and sneakers in the nearby town,” he said. “His heated gaze ran traveled slowly over me. As great as you look in those heels, they’re not exactly made for this terrain.” I felt heat rise to my cheeks. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I was used to compliments—men gave them freely—but where others annoyed me… Roan’s made me blush like a schoolgirl. A black SUV pulled up besi

  • Alpha’s Little Plaything    103. This Time I Won't Lose Her

Roan’s POV I was still venting at Aristes for not telling me he had found her. But the moment I saw her, all that anger vanished. She is… stunning. The kind of beauty that can’t be crafted or imitated—something you are simply born with. There’s a delicacy to her, an awestruck grace that draws you in effortlessly. And yet… her green eyes hold something else. Sadness. Not the fleeting kind—but something deeper. Something rooted so far within her soul it feels almost tangible. Someone hurt her. And when I find out who… they’ll wish they had never been born. “Tell me, Brea,” I said, my voice quieter now, a far contrast with the storm building inside me. “What happened to you?” Because goddess help me—my wolf and I were already crazy with the need to find whoever broke her… …and burn them to the grown. She looked at me—really looked at me—before answering. “I lost someone very important to me,” she said at last. “Yeah? Who, if I may ask?” “My mate.” Her voice

Even Claire, Marcus, and Draco had been a source of comfort. But it didn’t hurt any less. Leon had been dying… and I blamed him. Blamed him for not being there for me—for my first shift. The guilt clawed at me endlessly. We never got to stand beneath the full moon and confirm what we both already felt—that we were mates. We would never have that chance. If I hadn’t spent years pushing him away… maybe we would have built a family long ago. Goddess… I was so stupid. I went downstairs earlier than usual that morning. I wanted to start meeting the pack—getting to know everyone. My father had made it clear that one day I would be in charge of all

Loriah's PoV I woke with a jolt in the middle of the night. “Draco!” I gasped. My head snapped toward the nightstand. The clock glowed in bright red numbers—3:00 AM. Then I heard it. Commotion outside. Tires screeching to a halt. Shouting. Howls ripping through the night. My heart began to pound. “They’re back…” I ran toward the entrance just as they were unloading a body from one of the black SUVs. I didn’t need to be told who it was. The moment I saw Brea drop to her knees, howling in agony, I knew. My heart lurched. Leon. No… not Leon. Tears blurred my vision as I ran forward, just as the Queen Luna fell to her knees and wrapped Brea in her arms. Draco pulled me into a desperate embrace the second he saw me. He had lost his best friend. The days that followed were a painful blur. Other than her parents, Brea only allowed me or Sister Nora into her room. Every night, the Queen Luna held her until she fell asleep. Everyone agreed that, somehow, i

Brea’s POV When I woke up, the first people I saw were a man and a woman. They looked to be in their forties, their faces etched with concern. I shot upright, fear gripping my chest—until I recognized the room. I was back at Draco’s pack. The woman approached me slowly, tears streaming down her cheeks. “It’s okay, sweetheart. You’re safe now,” she said softly. “Where’s Leon?” I asked, shrinking away from her touch. Looking at them more closely now that I was fully conscious, I realized they resembled the Alpha King Aristes and Queen Luna Kayla. “Are you… The King and Queen?” I asked, wondering if I was still dreaming. My heart started to race. Then I remembered Loriah. “Loriah was with me. Where is she?” The Queen—Luna Kayla, or at least I assumed it was her—swatted the Alpha King’s arm. “Aristes, hurry. Call Loriah. Tell her our girl just woke up.” She moved closer, and I did not flinch this time. Aristes. He really was the Alpha King. He had been staring at

Draco’s PoV We got there first. We led the crowd straight toward the main entrance, a wave of bodies and voices surging forward. The guards at the gates panicked. I watched their eyes widen with fear and realization. Some dropped their weapons. Others fled, terrified of being exposed by the media already gathering. Out of sight, they shifted to wolf form and disappeared into the forest. “Fucking cowards,” Leo snarled beside me. Something caught my eye near the gate, a walkie-talkie abandoned on the ground. It crackled violently with sound. Someone was shouting on the other end. I picked it up slowly, my gaze lifting toward the mansion hidden deep within the woods. Richard’s lair. It always had been, ever since he’d faked his death. “Larry, what the fuck is going on?” Richard’s voice hissed through the device. “Why did you let all those humans through the gates?” I raised the walkie-talkie to my mouth, my voice calm.... deadly. “Your guards abandoned you, Richard. My

Loriah’s PoV I looked at Brea, who had finally fallen asleep. She was exhausted. She hadn’t slept much since she was taken, only feeling safe enough to rest after I arrived. A stern-looking woman had brought us food at least twice. It seemed safe to eat. I’d offered some to Brea before she drifted

Draco’s PoV The moment I realized Travis was behind all of it, I knew he was going to try to lure Loriah out of the pack. Loriah’s POV Draco’s arm tightened around my waist as the music swelled, pulling me flush against him. Draco’s PoV Greg was already there when the paramedics rushed Loriah into the ER. I tried to follow, but the doors slammed shut in my face, the red No Entry sign glowing like fire against my chest. “Wait outside, sir!” a nurse barked, shoving me back. My hands went to my hair, then my face, d
