KAEL

The field here still smelled of the blood and the stupid magic those rogues used.

Even after one whole week and two days, the air hung thick with the memory of that battle... a heavy scent of charred earth and iron that clung to everything it touched. My boots pressed into the ground with a low crunch as I walked through the wreckage, with Brent by my side, matching my pace. He held a clipboard in one hand and had his jaw tight in concentration.

They had cleared most of the bodies already, but the stains remained. Those were harder to remove, especially since those blood had been tarnished already.

Honestly, I thought Alpha Drayven would be the one to attack me, not those set of rogues.

I looked around the area, trailing my eyes over the faint traces of claw marks on the stone. If it wasn't for this damned battle, this place would be loud with the sound of laughing children as they played or learned or whatever. Now it was so peaceful and quiet that it irked the living daylight

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Finally

RIVERKael didn’t back away. And that was all the permission I needed.I closed the distance between us immediately with the kind of hunger that had no words, crushing our mouths together in a kiss that was more storm than touch. There was nothing soft about the way I kissed the man. There couldn't be.Not when we had too many near-deaths, too many unspoken things simmering between us. My hands found Kael’s jaw, his neck, pulling him closer until there was nothing but our shared breath and the faint taste of copper and the earth.More.This was what I wanted. What I needed. Fuck, this was what I deserved at a time like this. To not be able to think or breathe.Kael made a low sound against my mouth, one that pulled something wild from deep inside me. I kissed him even harder, making sure all he could feel was my lips on his, before trailing the path down his throat. His throat was so fucking beautiful."You like that, huh?" I teased, gently sucking on the tender spot close to his clav

  • Alpha's Little Secret   I just want to...

RIVERThe woods had never been this quiet.Or maybe I'd just gone too far into my own head to hear the sounds of the birds anymore.I walked without aim, my boots crunching against the damp leaves, while the morning air brushed coldly against my skin. It was early, or maybe it wasn't... time had stopped meaning anything as this point. What I had done was wander the entire pack twice, once through the old trail that led toward the training fields, then through the northern path that brushed close to the school. My mind was nothing but a blank canvas with just the memory of claws, the blood, and Corwin's screams.Did he truly scream before that beast took his neck off?I didn't want to think about that. I couldn't.Every time the thoughts brushed against my mind, my lungs burned. So I kept on walking. There were wolves patrolling the outer woods, but none of them looked at me twice. Maybe it was the way I moved, or maybe it was the hollowness in my eyes. It was so bad that I couldn't

  • Alpha's Little Secret   To find River

KAEL“No.”My voice came out rougher than usual, a bit clipped. The kind of voice that cracked against the air like some sort of whip. I pushed myself up straighter against the pillows, ignoring the faint protest of muscles that had been asleep for way too long."No, the fuck. I am not mated to anyone, and even if I was, it wouldn't be to a lowly omega male. Where would you even get that idea from?"Zach's expression did not shift, didn't even twitch. He just stood there with his arms folded, quiet in a way that made every word that came out of my mouth turn into a deeper grave I was digging for myself.Shit!I pressed my lips down into a scowl, irritation flaring to cover the unease gnawing beneath my ribs. "You're mistaken," I continued, forcing the words through my teeth. "Perhaps some sort od healing sensor in you was off. Or maybe the damn blood magic messed with something. I am not..."Breathe, Kael.I exhaled, before trying again, this time slower. "I am not mated to anyone."S

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Secrets are out

KAELI was... running?Through trees that bent like shadows and a sky that bled some sort of silver light, I chased the figure ahead of me... quick, silent, and always just out of reach. Silver hair flashed between the trees like a thread of light. The face? Completely unseen for some reason. But the way the stranger moved was familiar. Wild, free, and almost teasing."Wait!" I shouted, though my voice came out broken, swallowed by the echoing wind. The silver-haired figure didn't stop. They just turned once, the faintest tilt of the head, and I thought... no, I felt it... that the person was smiling at me.I pushed harder, even with my muscles burning, feet slamming against the dirt. I was almost there. Just one more step...And the ground gave way.My heart practically slammed against my ribs as the earth opened beneath me, turning into a wide, endless chasm swallowing light and sound. I reached out, clawing at empty air, the silver figure staring down at me with eyes that glowed fa

  • Alpha's Little Secret   He was no longer dying

RIVERI did not remember falling to my knees. All I knew was that Kael’s body was beneath me... heavy, limp, and terrifyingly still. His fur was matted with dry blood, both his own and that of others, and the only sound that escaped me was a broken, strangled sob.Was he...?"Kael..."Nothing.The Alpha didn't move, didn't stir. His chest rose so faintly that I thought I imagined it at first. I pressed my trembling paws against his chest, half wanting to shake him, half afraid that if I did, Kael would crumble apart like those damn rogues had... into nothing but rot and silence."No, no, no," I muttered, voice barely a whisper as tears mixed with the dirt beneath us. "You are not dying. You cannot die, damn it... if you wanted to get rid of me that fast, you should choose another way."I was shaking all over now, trembling from exhaustion and blood loss. The fight had stripped everything from me... my strength, my stability, even my will to keep breathing. The only thing anchoring me
