RIVER

Well...

My fist connected with Kael’s nose before I even realized I had swung.

The crack was satisfying in the worst way possible, sharp enough to echo in my bones, but it didn't stop the sight of him... still panting, lips swollen, with his eyes dazed with a kind of hunger I had no business provoking. Kael was heaving, though his cock had softened against his stomach now. His teeth was all bared, glinting from where he had nearly bitten down into me.

The fucking asshole had almost finished the marking.

I had shoved him away in time, but it had been too close. If I had been a second late, his teeth would have destroyed the barrier immediately and I would have been a marked man. Chained to an alpha.

Wasn't that what I wanted?

Well, yes, but not like this. I wanted to be marked with consent. I wanted Kael to ask me first, not slam his damn teeth into me like a fucking vampire.

The thought tore through me like a blade. My wolf roared yes to my question, all furious with me for sto

KAELRed.That was all I could see.It colored the roads I walked, the hallways in the den, the walls, even the very air that clawed its way through my airway and to my lungs. My heart thundered in my ears, sharp and loud enough that it seemed to drown everything else.River had rejected me.It wasn't a normal rejection in the sense that he was supposed to say he rejected me, but the sense of rejection was there all the same. He had told me to go away in a way he hadn't done before. That was unheard of.Anger tasted metallic on my tongue. Like blood. It had this familiar, dangerous thing that simmered right below the surface, begging to be unleashed. How dare River? How fucking dare River tell me, an Alpha, to get out of his house?I was the one who been disrespected, yet River had dared look me straight in the eyes... those fucking damn purple eyes that still made me weak every damn time... and spat out those words like we didn't have a bond tying us together.Like he wasn't mine.Fi

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Get out

RIVERThere was someone in his house.Again.I froze just as I reached for the light switch, my senses and whole body catching the familiar scent before the blub even flickered on. There was no reason for me to guess who it was because who else would enter my apartment without an invitation and stay in the dark like some sort of madman? If anyone guessed Kael, they were absolutely correct. He was also a madman. Not some sort."Fucking hell," I cussed under my breath. "I really need to do something and change these damn locks."His voice came from the living room, deeper than usual. "What is that supposed to mean, River?"I didn't turn to him immediately. I closed the door behind me, tossed my keys on the counter, and said, "It means whatever you think it means, Alpha."Kael was standing near the window, though no one would see him because of the position he kept himself, one hand tucked into his pocket. His other hand held a glass of something dark. That wasn't mine. I didn't have any

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Rabid

RIVERThe scent of herbs and dried blood hung thick in Zach's little infirmary that had turned into a small training room now. The air stung my nose... too sharp, too full of everything I didn't want to think about at all.Which was fine.I wasn't here to think. I was here to work. And mindless working was what I excelled in the most.I pressed my palms down on one of Kael’s men chest, the man's shallow breaths filling the quiet between Zach's movements. My own power hummed at my fingertips, heat sparking under my skin until it settled into something way gentler... light, healing, and warmth. The deep gash in the man's abdomen sealed slowly, leaving behind only clean, pink flesh.“Good,” Zach murmured from behind me. “Next.”"What if we hadn't come on time? What if they had died before we arrived?" I asked Zach, not bothering to look up as I simply moved to the next cot. My hands were steady even though my thoughts were not.It was easier this way.Way easier to keep busy than sit alo

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Never ever

KAELThe room was a fucking mess when I stepped forward, glass crunching under my boots. The crowd had begun to disperse, though not as far as I would have liked.Their whispers hummed through the air."Blackthorn wolf.""An omega!""Savage, all of them."I kept my jaw locked. At this point, I didn't hear any of it... all I saw was River, chest rising, eyes still burning violet, as he struggled against the two guards trying to hold him down. The other man was barely standing, a swollen mess of blood and bruises.I was already halfway to them when a deep voice thundered from somewhere in the crowd."Spectacular!"All the murmuring stopped immediately when Drayven stepped away from the crowd and into the little circle the people had made surrounding River and the other guy. Drayven’s coat was half undone, like someone who had come straight from a room or whatever the moment he heard the commotion. There were two other men behind him."What the fuck was going on here?" Drayven demanded,

KAEL"Alpha Kael," One of the Alphas said, laughter rumbling through his chest as he ran his eyes shamelessly over Lyria. "If the Moon Goddess ever decides to make mistakes and turn me to a different man, I pray she turns me to you. Tell me, Lady..." "Lyria.""Lyria," he said rather wistfully. "A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. Would you rather marry me instead?"A round of laughter followed the request, very loud and rather annoying. The men all raised their glasses, their teasing barely masked by their polite smiles. Only the young Alpha, the one who had spoken of my mate, remained silent, those eyes of his as sharp as a knife and fixed on me in ways I did not want.Almost like he was trying to read me or something equally stupid.I offered the others a thin smile. My wolf bristled under the surface. We did not need this.Lyria, of course, basked in the attention she got from the Alphas. Her laughter cane easily here, even with her hand still looped possessively around my arm

  • Alpha's Little Secret   Future Luna

KAEL"She couldn't believe it..."The music here was played in a soft, and rather elegant way... the kind that made people forget they were surrounded by the apex predators in their packs.I stood near the edge of the hall, a glass of amber liquid in my hand, as I pretended to listen to the group of Alphas debated about their border security and the recent marriage activities in the area. The Silverridge pack knew how to throw a party... chandeliers hung from their vaulted ceilings, candles flickered in tall glass cylinders, and the scent of honeyed wine and polished wood clung to the air.Laughter rippled across the room, mingling with the sound of clinking glasses and their flirtatious whispers.I hated every second of it."... one would never believe.""... it truly doesn't matter..."Rogue problems, resource shortages, alliances... this was the kind of talk I preferred. Not this. Not pretending to be cordial with people who would gladly stab me in the back if they knew it would gi
