Alpha's Meltdown: He Hurt Me for His Mistress

"Who are you?" Alpha Kael Bennett asked, shoving me away with a cold gaze.

Maya Walsh stood behind him. Her fingers curled possessively around his arm, and her gaze was dripping with malice. "Kael doesn't remember you anymore, Lila. Why are you still hanging around him?"

"Kael, look at me. It's me, Lila Miller!" I said, my voice shaking as I tried to awaken his memories. "Our marking ceremony is in three days!"

Kael frowned and took a step back in disgust. "A marking ceremony? I've never made any promise like that. Maya, get her out of here. I don't need strangers disturbing my recovery."

"A stranger?"

I could feel my heart tearing apart. "You said you would mark me!"

"That's enough!" Kael roared, his Alpha presence crashing down on me. "I don't know you. If you keep harassing me, I'll deal with you according to pack law."

Maya smiled smugly as she shoved me toward the door. "Did you hear that? Kael only has eyes for me now."

I stumbled out the door.

The wolfsbane had destroyed his memories—specifically, the part of his memories about me.

I stayed outside the infirmary for three days without sleep.

On the fourth morning, Kael's vehicle rolled out of the parking garage.

He sat in the driver's seat, with Maya leaning against him. Something around her neck made my vision blur.

It was my moonstone necklace.

Kael had personally designed it for me, and he had been attacked by Rogues while trying to retrieve it.

I rushed to block the car. "Kael! That necklace is mine! You designed it for me!"

The car stopped, and Kael rolled down the window. He still had an indifferent gaze toward me.

"This is the last time I'll say this, Lila. Stop bothering me. I gave that necklace to Maya. It suits her."

"It suits her?" I said, my whole body trembling from rage. "Rogues poisoned you with wolfsbane while you were trying to get it back! You've lost your memory, but that necklace is proof of our love!"

Maya chuckled and touched the necklace. "Whoever has it becomes its owner. Kael wants me now. Who are you to interfere with us?"

"Shut up!" I snapped, glaring at her. "You're behind this. You worked with the Rogues. You poisoned Kael with wolfsbane!"

Kael's expression darkened. He swung open the door and stepped out of the car. His Alpha presence instantly crushed down on me as he demanded, "How could you say that to the future Luna? Lila, one more word from you, and I'll exile you from the pack!"

I looked him in the eye as tears spilled down my cheeks. "Now you want to exile me? Have you forgotten our promise?"

"That was all in your head." He turned and took Maya's hand. "Forget her, Maya. Let's go."

He lowered his head and gently kissed Maya's cheek. It was the same way he used to kiss me.

I staggered backward as all strength drained from my body, and I quickly fled the scene.
