Desmond's POV

"Fuck!" I groaned, my head tipped back in pleasure as MacKenzie's tongue swiped over my cock like a damn vixen. Her cheeks hollowed, as she sucked me like this was her sole life's purpose. My hands tightened around her silky dark hair, as I helped her move, pushing myself deeper until I filled her throat.

I was hosting a ball, and people were gathered already. My Beta and Gamma had sent me a tonne of mindlinks, but I'd never been the one to turn down a blow job. Knowing Kenzie, I knew that it would put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. She knew how to work magic with her mouth.

After she'd swallowed every drop of cum I'd released, she got up, looking so proud of herself. She puffed her chest out, drawing my attention to her breasts and hard nipples only covered by a scandalous piece of see through material. I'd only looked at her once, before deciding that she was worth the delay.

"Are you going to come back so we can finish what we started?" She asked, fingers stroking my chest.

We've had this relationship for a while now. She never hid how much she lusted over me, and I'd fallen the first time she tried to seduce me. I'd fucked her so thoroughly, she kept coming back for more.

"Pray I don't find my mate then." I joked.

Truly, I hoped not to find my mate. This whole mating ball was my father's idea. The old man refused to retire in peace. He would rather stick his nose in my business.

"And if you find her?" Mackenzie asked, and I spotted a slight tremor in her voice, before she masked it again. "She will be my Luna."

"Let the future take care of itself," I murmured, slipping my fingers between her legs, because I couldn't resist feeling her wetness. "We don't have enough time. I would have taken care of this pretty cunt of yours."

She gasped, wanting to grab me again, but I pulled back.

"I need to dress up."

I left her and went into the bathroom to have a quick shower again. Then I dressed up.

After I was certain that I didn't look anything like a beautiful woman was on her knees before me, I exited the room.

Two warriors standing outside bowed, before proceeding to follow me. Mackenzie on the other hand, walked along with them. She didn't have to, but I didn't mind.

Our relationship was purely transactional. We both got sexual satisfaction from each other. But I still respected her as a person. The only down side now was that I suspected she wanted more from me. I didn't see her in that way at all. And I didn't have more to offer her.

My wolf was agitated even before we got to the ballroom. As if there was something there that he just couldn't wait to see.

The whole place fell silent as all eyes turned to me when the attendant announced my name. I initially took a look at the swarm of ladies gathered at one side, most of them hoping they could end up with me.

The prospect excited me as much as the probability of finding an ocean in the Sahara. But then I looked forward, my heart drummed unusually loud, the fleeting scent of rain and spring feeling my lungs. Something told me that my life was about to change today.

Without looking at her, I whisked the glass of tequila off MacKenzie's hands, and I drank it all at once. Something to prepare me for what I was going to face.

I walked further in, seeing a blurred figure ahead, and when she became clear to me, I was standing right in front of Davina Rose Carson. From my peripherals, I noticed someone else standing there. Head bowed, looking angelic with her long wavy auburn hair and silver dress that made it seem like she was hand carved by the goddess and sent to supervise us on earth.

But my attention was on Davina. And I heard the confirmation at the back of my mind.

"Mate."

Something in me snapped. A whirlpool of emotions and possessiveness. I needed to claim her now. This instant or I might just die.

"Lady Davina," she stiffened when I called her name and stretched out my hand. "You're my mate."

She let out a small confused laugh. "You're mistaken." She shook her head. "I'm not..."

"I can smell you." I smiled at her, confident that she just wanted to play games.

Lucien got up at that moment, eyes all storm and fury as she shoved me away from her. "Stay the fuck away from Davina!"

I knew Lucien liked her. But they were not mates. If they were, I wouldn't feel the mate bond with her.

"What's your deal with her?" I yelled back, shoving my hands at his chest. "You have a fiancee which you abandoned all for her." There was someone he was supposed to marry— a Beta's daughter from another pack. But he was too obsessed with Davina that he abandoned her. "She's mine."

Davina lowered and face and muttered words under her breath as she looked around. She was embarrassed, and this was all Lucien's fault.

"Can't you see?" She murmured, voice calm and lovely. "I am not your mate. I don't feel anything for you. Your mate is here. You are confusing our scent." The words came out slowly, each sentence drawn with enough emphasis to make me understand.

A deep shaky inhale made me turn to look at the angel by my side. She looked distressed, hands clenched tightly, looking like she was going to break down any second. Something pinched my heart the longer I stared at her. A small, suppressed part of my consciousness wanted me to comfort her. But I couldn't do so in front of my mate.

Before I could even make sense of why she had that effect on me, she ran out of the room and Alpha Sienna went after her.

That was out of the way now, so I faced my mate again. "It's you," I insisted, in case she was still having doubts. "You're my mate."

"One more mention of Davina being your mate, and you might never get to speak again." Lucien fumed, making anger curl up my spine. He was still making claims on my mate.

I bared my fangs as I got ready to attack him, my nails sharpening into claws. Lucien stood there, hands steady on Davina's waist, but looking ready to pounce.

"Oh fuck!" Alpha Marco rushed over, wanting to end the fight before it began, but my warriors hurried to surround me.

"I'm sorry Alpha, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave before things get out of hand." Dominic, my Beta said to Lucien, and I heard Davina asking him to leave with her.

She didn't want me. She wanted to leave with him even though we were mates.

"You are not going anywhere with him." I bellowed. This was my pack, and no one could leave if I gave the order. I was going to swing at Lucien if Dominic didn't block my way.

"What's gotten into you? You're making an embarrassment of yourself!" He sounded so appalled, and his voice was coated with disappointment. But I didn't care.

Davina grabbed Lucien's hand and they began to run out, while Dominic blocked my path. I'd never felt more need to kill my Beta before.

"Davina!" I yelled her name, but she was already gone.

The moment she stepped out of the ballroom and I lost sight of her, I felt a sudden chill. It was as if someone clicked their fingers in front of me, and I was shaken to reality.

I looked around to see all eyes on me, everyone staring at me like I was a clown.

I was going after Davina? Claiming her as mine? In the presence of the whole crowd?

My chest tightened even further when I remembered auburn hair and silver dress. She was looking at me like she expected me to come to her.

I didn't understand.

What the hell just happened?

What have I done?

Raine's POVTeresa knocked once on my office door before pushing it open, just like Desmond always did. It was already clear that people in this pack didn’t understand the concept of permission to enter a room. She carried a package and placed it on my desk. “From Alpha Nicolas.”My eyes widened. “He came here?”“Yes. He said that you should let him know whenever you want him around.”I smiled. Genuinely. He was scared that I might chase him away, so he’d rather do that by himself before I got the chance to. And that sounded exactly like me.I opened the package, and my smile widened when I saw what it contained.Ice skating boots. Custom-made. Exactly like the pair he got me all those years ago, but only bigger.“Goddess, Luna, these are beautiful.” Teresa gushed. She picked up one of them, turning it every which way. “Like really, really beautiful. He has good eyes, I swear.”“I like them too.”The boots were mostly white, but with pink swirly designs. It almost seemed like they wer

Raine's POVThe next day, I visited Nicolas.A part of me kicked against the decision, but I knew that it was better for me to rip off the Band-Aid once and for all. Besides, I couldn’t stop thinking about the birthday gifts. At this point, Alpha Nicolas had given me so many sleepless nights.I knocked and waited for about a minute before he opened the door. The Alpha, who looked ready to ask questions, froze suddenly when he saw me.I didn’t tell him that I was coming. I didn’t have his phone number, and I also wanted to catch him unprepared. I wanted to meet his most authentic self.“Lorraine,” he called my name so gently, it sounded like a breath. “You’re here.”I nodded. “I guess.”“You’re twenty-four now.” He scratched the back of his head sheepishly, making me want to laugh. “Sorry, that came out awkwardly.”I chuckled. “It’s okay.”“Happy birthday,” he smiled, but I could still hear the tension in his voice. “I hope you had an awesome day yesterday.”“Yes. Desmond and my friend

  • Alpha's Obsession: His caged Luna    Chapter 89: Happy Birthday

Raine's POVDays rolled quickly into weeks, and weeks rolled into months. I was finally thriving as Luna. Of course, there was still something new to learn about the role, but I believed I was doing okay. I loved my people. They loved me too. They trusted me, and I always felt so honoured when they came to me with their complaints. The only part of my life that hadn’t truly improved was my relationship with Alpha Nicolas. He had moved out of the guest house and relocated to a new apartment in an estate nearby. He visited the pack house often, but he didn’t try to ask for my forgiveness again. He respected my wish in not wanting to have him constantly bothering me.However, he never completely disappeared either. I could tell that he wasn’t trying to make me notice him, yet the things he did were difficult to overlook. At first, he educated himself about my business. I wasn’t talking about surface-level kind of education. He learnt the basics, the day-to-day running of the company. He

  • Alpha's Obsession: His caged Luna    Chapter 88: Luna Suzanne

Desmond's POVMy father had been spending more time in the pack house since after the Luna ceremony. He’d been visiting me in the office and even assisting me. He was the Alpha before me, so he had all the experience.I found myself smiling a few times when he attempted to guide me on what to do. It was many years too late for that, but I still let him. Usually, before I took over from him as Alpha, he was supposed to be by my side for a period of time, ranging from a few months to a year, depending on how fast the learning process would be. He was supposed to guide my decisions, correct my mistakes, and just give me his overall support. But because of what happened between us, I was left to handle myself. Thankfully, there had been some elders close to him, his Beta included, and they’d been there for me.I didn’t want to dwell on the past. I missed him. I missed what we had as a family. And it was disheartening how we separated. Mom would hate it so much.On the other hand, Alpha Ni

Raine's POV“Raine!” My mother yelled excitedly as she walked into my office. There was a smile on her face, and her eyes stared at me with fondness.I had stayed with this woman all my life. I knew how manipulative she was. In fact, I had expected it. Yet it never failed to fascinate me.“I’ve been praying that we see each other soon. How are you doing? You look so good.”I chuckled. Because this was genuinely funny.“Damson and his mother had me locked up because of that incident with me and the Alpha.” She rolled her eyes. “I know what I did was wrong, and Luna Aliyah has a right to be upset, but it isn’t a crime. Why did they lock me up? This is a sign that Damson is going to abuse his power.” She led herself to one of the seats facing me. “I’m planning on starting a rebellion against them. The people should see them for who they truly are.”I stared at her for a moment too long. “...You are serious.”“Yes. I’m still the Beta female of Phantom Stars. Damson couldn’t find anyone wo

  • Alpha's Obsession: His caged Luna    Chapter 86: Close enough

Desmond's POVI stayed with Raine until she fell asleep in my arms. She didn’t cry after the meeting with Alpha Nicolas, but I knew that she was overwhelmed and needed a good rest.I took her up to our room and gently placed her on the bed. I covered her up, kissed her forehead, then left the room.I then went down to meet Alpha Nicolas and Vincent. I felt the tension in the air when I approached them. Nicolas looked ten years older than when he stepped into my pack house this morning.I didn’t really know the older Alpha all too well. But from the few times I’d seen him, I knew he was a confident and self-assured man. For him to be this rattled, it meant that he was completely shaken by Raine.Good. He deserved to cry and grovel at her feet for abandoning her to suffer alone.Alpha Nicolas straightened when he saw me. “Alpha.”I acknowledged him with a subtle nod.“How is she?”“Sleeping.” I folded my arms across my chest. “I take it that the meeting didn’t go too well for you then.”
