Chapter 5

Alex’s P.O.V.

I opened my eyes slowly. There was darkness in the room. I looked around the room and realized I was alone. The blackness spreading out of the window told me that night was getting dark. The incident from this morning flashed in my mind. Why was he doing this to me? I don’t even know what the reason for this behavior was. I never did him any wrong.

“I should talk to him. "I have to know the reason." I muttered and got up. I wandered down to the lounge but he was not there.

“Is there anyone here?” I called out but there was no voice. In the mansion of Alpha Conard, there was no one? How is that possible?

Moving forward, my eyes fell on a half-open door. The whisper coming from inside startled me for a moment. Gathering my courage, I stepped inside. In the dark room, there was no sign of furniture, just a big picture on a wall behind which light shined reducing the darkness of the room.

"I remember everything, I never forget that painful night." A tall and muscular man standing in front of the picture looked completely different from Alpha Conard who never showed mercy to anyone.

The water flowing from his eyes was soaking his face, the face that was always expressionless, but now was filled with pain. I was shocked when I saw his condition.

"For some time, I had forgotten all that. During the cold winters, ice formed on my heart, freezing every emotion. However, after seeing her face, I realized that my heart was not dead at all. There was still a bitter spark of memory that had flared up and would now burn everything to ashes." He continued muttering as he touched the smiling face of the person in the picture. I held my breath. What if he finds me there? Will he punish me again? Should I go back? I asked myself.

"I wept, I cried but now I will make this whole family cry tears of blood, I will take their most cherished, dearest thing away from them, just like everything that was mine was taken away from me, I will also take away everything from these people. I promise that.” He was slowly talking to this picture in his voice as if he was talking to a living person sitting in front of him.

Suddenly, he became silent. My breath was stuck in my throat. Was he aware of my presence?

“Run Alex.” A voice rose inside me but before I could act, he turned and stared at me with his deep red eyes. I froze on my spot. I started sweating badly and my body started shaking in fear.

Conard’s P.O.V.

I stood quietly in the middle of the room with my eyes closed. A painful scene played out before my closed eyes.

"I wept, I cried but now I will make this whole family cry tears of blood. I will take their most cherished, dearest thing away from them, just like everything that was mine was taken away from me, I will also take away everything from these people. I promise that.” I promised. I don’t want to be weak in front of my enemy. My eyes were getting red with intensity when I heard a familiar voice as well as a certain smell awakening my senses and pulling me back from the past to the present. I suddenly opened my eyes and turned around. She was there, staring at me with trembling hands.

"What are you doing here?" I asked in a heavy voice. After hearing, she straightened up, looked at the table again while lifting a wristwatch, but said nothing.

"I asked what you were doing here." She swallowed at my stern response and took two steps back.

"I needed to ask you something serious. You weren't in the room, so I had to come here." She glances at the watch as she speaks.

“Whose watch is this?”

“How dare you touch this?” I approached her in a furious manner and snatched the watch from her hand.

“Tell me.” I yelled fiercely. I saw her look at me with a shocked expression.

“I.. I just.” She was about to speak when I grabbed her jaw in my tight grip.

"Today this is your first and last mistake. If you dare again, you will not live to show your courage. Now hurry up and wait for me in the room." Her eyes turned watery and tears started rolling down her cheeks. I left her with a jerk and turned around.

Her tears were driving me crazy. She was weakening me.

‘Why?” I screamed, snatching my hair.

“She is your mate.” My wolf growled.

“No, I will not let her win. I will not forget my painful past. She can’t defeat me like this. I had to be strong. I closed my eyes and tried to cool myself down.
