RUNE'S POV

Raven had been gone for weeks now, and it was starting to drive me mad. I’d tried to stay focused on pack matters, keep myself in check, but the weight of not knowing where she was had started to settle in like a lump in my chest. Every time I thought about her out there, somewhere unknown, I felt a prickling anger and worry that wouldn't leave me alone.

I’d sent some werewolves out days ago, told them to search every corner, and talk to every house agency in the Illelth pack. I thought, maybe, she’d gone to any of them to get accommodation.

The werewolves I'd sent had gone out, questioning as many werewolves in the pack as they could. They had gone down to the pack's boundaries and even tried a little harder than I'd asked them to.

When they came back with no news, no leads, just empty answers, I felt a tinge of irritation rise up inside me. They’d done the bare minimum despite what seemed like a lot of effort, that much was obvious. I tried to control myself, took a long b

Rune's POVI sat in the car, staring at the empty house in front of me, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly I thought it might snap. The address had led me here, to this empty, silent place. I was sure this was where she’d been living. But now, she was gone.“Alpha,” Liam, the Omega who'd come with me called from the passenger seat, breaking the silence. He’d been silent for most of the drive, but I could see the look in his eyes now—concern, hesitation.“You’ve been looking for her for a long time. Maybe… maybe this is just a timing issue. Maybe she didn’t know you’d be coming.”I let out a long, heavy sigh, leaning back into the seat. “It’s not just today, Liam. Every time I get close, it’s like she’s already gone. Like she’s keeping tabs on me and so she knows when I'm coming.”I shook my head, frustration bubbling up.“It’s just… this doesn’t make sense.”He shifted, glancing between me and the house. “Maybe she isn’t trying to avoid you, Alpha. Sometimes people leave

RUNE POV I looked at her, confusion written all over my face. “I—” I uttered, still confused. “It's nice to meet you again.” I added, not also knowing what to say. The woman next to her was Aella, and she looked good too. Their faces shone and body skins glowed, making me wonder what the issue was and how my former wife went about it. “RUNE!” Someone shouted in the presence of many others and I looked to my right to see an angry look on the face of the woman I came out with. “Are you going to take her back as your wife now, huh?” Lila asked and I shook my head, turning around again to see the two women order food from the counter where meals were sold. “I'm sorry, babe—” I heaved a sigh and smiled. “—do you want to order something before we make it back home?” I asked and she heaved a sigh also, noticing the changes in my mood but was I to be blamed? How was I supposed to see Raven looking stunning and expected to feel good? How did she secure a job, or is she married to so

Rune's POVI stood in the middle of the mall, arms crossed, watching as Lila darted from one stall to the next. She was talking excitedly to a vendor, pointing at some kind of decorative item that, honestly, I couldn’t care less about.I had only come here to pick up a few supplies for the pack, a quick and simple task. But somehow, Lila had attached herself to me, insisting she knew better about bargains, about quality, about‘What the pack would truly appreciate.’I’d tried to convince her to stay back, to let me do this on my own, but she wouldn’t hear it. She’d practically bounced up and down, saying how she could help me pick “just the right things,” and before I knew it, here I was, following her around, trying my best to look interested as she babbled on about everything and nothing.“Alpha Rune, look at this!” she called, waving a bright scarf in the air, pulling me from my thoughts. “This would be perfect for the ceremony next month. Imagine how it’ll look draped over the tab

RAVEN POV “This works.” Aella gave a nod. Since we got to the boutique, it was anything I preferred she agreed with. “Do you always have to agree, Aella?” At some point, I couldn't hold back my thoughts so I asked the question. “Take another cart and go picking. I'll filter them when we're ready to pay and leave, mm?” Happily, she gave a nod and started to walk away. The next time I saw her, she walked past me and headed to a section of socks - what I believe we needed. Winter was coming and the babies would be needing as many socks as possible. The thought of having them in less than three months brought a smile to my face. It was high time I went for my next appointment, and it happened to be tomorrow. Just when I wanted to move again, I looked up and it looked like there was a gaze I met, but this person was gone from my sight. Was I imagining things? Of course not. I held the handle of the cart and started to walk again, smiling with the many thoughts running around my head
