Penulis: Cassie
On the night of the full moon, I went to the Werewolf Elder Council alone.

The ancient council hall was hidden deep in the mountains. Seven elders sat around a stone table covered in runes.

"Sophia Blackwood," the Head Elder's voice was stern. "Are you certain you wish to apply to sever your mate bond?"

"I'm certain." I didn't hesitate for a second.

"The blood severing ritual is incredibly painful. Many werewolves don't survive it. Even those who do are often crippled for life, unable to mate with any Alpha ever again," the elder warned.

Listening to these consequences, my heart was strangely calm. "I've been dying every day for three years. Now, I just want to live again."

The elders were clearly shaken by my determination. The Head Elder slowly nodded. "In that case, let the ritual begin."

At midnight, I lay on the blood altar.

Intense pain hit me instantly. It was a tearing deep in my soul, like someone was slowly cutting open my heart with a dull knife.

"By the name of the Moon Goddess, sever your fated bond with Alexander Blackwood!"

The moment the dagger cut across my chest, a pain like lightning shot through my whole body. I couldn't help but scream. Blood trickled from my eyes, nose, and ears.

But strangely, deep inside, I felt lighter than I ever had before.

The huge weight that had been crushing my chest for three years was finally gone.

"Severed!"

In that instant, some string inside me snapped completely.

The last tie connecting me to Alexander was gone.

I was free.

I went home to get my luggage, but surprisingly, Alexander was there.

"Where'd you run off to?" He stood in the living room, dressed sharply in a suit. "It's our marking anniversary today. Were you out buying a present?"

I froze for a second, then remembered it really was the anniversary of our marking three years ago.

How ironic. The day my bond severance became official was the same day as our anniversary.

Every year on this day, I used to carefully prepare a gift, and he never remembered. This year, he suddenly remembered, but I didn't care anymore.

Did he even remember this was also the day our temporary mate bond agreement expired?

I nodded calmly. "Yeah, went to get a present."

The completely severed mate bond. That was my final gift to him.

"That day, when I announced Lily's status, it was unexpected. Don't worry about it," Alexander said, glancing at his phone. "I booked that French restaurant you love. Consider it my apology to you. And… a celebration of our union."

He made a move to take my hand.

But I didn't move.

"You, why aren't you moving?" He frowned.

I opened my mouth, but in the end, I didn't say the words of our final goodbye. "I still have a few things to take care of. You go on ahead. I'll be there soon."

Alexander didn't think much of it, just nodded and left.

I watched his car drive away through the floor-to-ceiling window until it disappeared around the corner.

For the first time in three years, he remembered our marking anniversary.

And for the first time, I didn't care at all.

I took the mate bond severance certificate out of my bag and placed it gently on the nightstand.

Next to it, I put the huge check he'd given me, the one I didn't need him to make good on.

The amount on it was enough for anyone from the slums to live like a king for the rest of their life.

But it couldn't buy back the moonstone bracelet my grandmother had put on my wrist, and it certainly couldn't buy back my three years of heartfelt love.

Picking up my already packed bags, I quietly closed the door and left.

Sophia's POVIn the private hospital's VIP room, Alexander's mother lay pale on the bed.Seeing me, a complex emotion flickered in her eyes."Sophia... you really came," she said weakly."What did you want to see me about?" I sat by her bed, my tone cool. She struggled, pulling a small box from under her pillow. "This... is the Blackwood family signet ring... a symbol passed down through generations...""I don't need it." I didn't take it. "It has nothing to do with me.""Please..." She suddenly slid off the bed, kneeling before me. "Please save Alexander..."I stared, shocked. This once proud woman, now kneeling at my feet."What are you doing?""It was my fault, all my fault!" She sobbed uncontrollably. "I shouldn't have forced you, shouldn't have whipped you with the moon-silver, shouldn't have favored Lily...""Does saying this now make any difference?" I asked coldly. "You didn't treat me like a person back then.""I know, I know I did so much wrong..." She clutched my pants leg.

Sophia's POV"Sophia, I want you to meet my brother," Emma said, pulling me towards the VIP lounge at New York Tech Week. "He just flew in from Silicon Valley.""Your brother?" I smoothed my dress. "Is he in tech too?""An investor. Specializes in female-founded startups." Emma smiled mysteriously. "And he's single. A good guy."I stopped. "Emma, you're not trying to set me up with a mate, are you?""Of course not!" Emma feigned innocence. "I just think you two would have a lot to talk about. Besides, Phoenix could use a strategic investor. He's got a sharp eye."Walking into the VIP lounge, I immediately saw him. Standing by the window, tall and lean in a dark gray suit, engrossed in a financial report."Ethan!" Emma walked over, patting his shoulder. "Come meet the Phoenix founder I told you about."The man turned. A kind, handsome face. Deep brown eyes that smiled warmly."Ms. S. Moon," he extended his hand. "I'm Ethan, Emma's brother. It's an honor.""Please, call me Sophia." I sho

Alexander's POVThe cheap motel TV was playing Sophia's press conference. The host gushed, "Ms. S. Moon's press conference has become the most sensational business event of the year..."I turned off the TV. Silence filled the room.My phone rang. My lawyer."Mr. Blackwood, I regret to inform you, Switzerland has formally requested your extradition. The FBI will likely arrest you within 48 hours.""What?""To reduce her sentence, Ms. Lily provided substantial evidence to the Swiss police, claiming you were the mastermind behind the entire fraud. She said all the money was transferred under your instruction."I collapsed onto the shabby bed. "But she did all of it!""The problem is, she has evidence," the lawyer's voice was heavy. "She recorded many of your conversations. Though taken out of context, they'll be very persuasive in court."After hanging up, I stared at the mold spots on the ceiling.Three years ago, if someone had told me this would be my end, I would have laughed. Now, I

Sophia's POV"Ms. S. Moon, there's a man downstairs who's been waiting for three days. Security says it's Alexander Blackwood."My assistant reported carefully, afraid to upset me."Let him wait." I didn't look up from the contract I was reviewing. "If he disturbs employees, call the police.""Yes, Madam."On the fourth morning, I looked down through the floor-to-ceiling window. Alexander was still there. Wrinkled suit, stubble, holding a coffee cup.He looked pathetic."Ms. S. Moon, the man asked me to give this to you." The head of security walked into my office with a coffee.I took it, sniffed it, and sneered. "Latte, three sugars, cinnamon powder?""Yes.""Tell him I don't drink lattes. I drink Americanos. Black. No sugar." I pushed the coffee back. "That's Lily's preference, not mine."The security chief paused. "You mean... he doesn't even know what you like?""Three years of a 'deep' relationship, and he doesn't know what coffee I drink." I said coldly. "Ironic, isn't it?"In t

A light in her eyes I'd never seen before."Ms. S. Moon, what advice do you have for young female entrepreneurs?" the host asked.Sophia took the microphone. Her voice was clear and firm.
