Axel’s POV

Nothing could have prepared Athena for the shock of seeing Samantha standing at our side. Her eyes widened for a moment, then the expression vanished just as quickly.

“We heard the commotion and tried to investigate, but your guards refused to let us leave the room, Keziah. Are we hostages here?” Athena narrowed her eyes at me dangerously.

We should have been worried about Athena’s words, but Keziah was silent, and that silence bothered me more.

“Keziah?” I prompted.

“I’m out,” he said flatly, withdrawing and letting me take control of my body. I cracked my neck, feeling life surge through my veins again. It was always a hassle when my wolf yielded control, but that was the way of things.

Perks of being Alpha, I guess.

“Athena, I apologize for the chaos,” I said, hesitating before tilting my head slightly. I respected her late mother… not her. For all my power, I knew that if Athena truly wanted to leave, she could by hook or crook, even with reckless tricks.

“Why…?” Athe

  • Alphas' contract mate   Chapter 35: Blood tactics

Axelair's POV Alex was still in the air with his fangs bared and ready to sink into Ashish’s throat when I did the one thing I never thought I’d do.I howled. The sound tore out of my throat, shaking the pillars of the council room. It reverberated through the ears of everyone in the pack, putting them at ease. And before Alex’s claws could pierce Ashish's flesh, I darted forward, running around Ashish in a circle.Ashish didn’t run. Instead, he howled with me, and wrapped me into a crushing embrace. His large palm smacked my back as if I were still a child at his knee.“You still know how to make an entrance, pup!” Ashish roared.I scowled, but didn’t fight him. His arms locked around me until finally he shoved me back, grinning with bloody teeth. As if on cue, Alex’s body began to twist. His snarling muzzle shrank and bones snapped back into place until he stood before us again in his human skin. He was already laughing. “Did you see your face, Ashish?” he wheezed between chuckl

  • Alphas' contract mate   Chapter 34: Alex's rage

Axelair’s POVAthena was biting off more than she could chew. How could she challenge me in my own pack, in my own court? My mother had already pleaded with Alex and me not to destroy the coven of priestesses. Besides, Athena and her sister Hera were the last surviving human descendants of the Priestesses of the Ice Cliffs. Mother asked me to let them thrive for the sake of keeping me and my brother in check. I had accepted it, as one of my mother’s requests I could not deny. But Athena had grown ambitious. The moment she came of age for succession… barely fifteen, she began plotting her ascension. I couldn’t tell how powerful she had become, but I knew she had upgraded. At thirty two, her power was a deadly blend of nature, wolfsbane, and silver which was strong enough to cripple any of us in an instant. Alpha or not.She even had her spies planted everywhere, even within the Desori Blood and Claw pack. Still, I let her be. As long as she didn’t directly hurt me or my people. But

  • Alphas' contract mate   Chapter 33: Not again

Alexander's POV(What happened seven hours before Mia visited my make shift room… all drenched in heat, sweet slick...)___________________“I see.” Athena looked about as happy as a cat at bath time, and for once, I agreed with her. Axel’s decision to keep Samantha at his side rubbed me wrong, though I couldn’t explain why. I didn’t feel anything for Samantha… at all. Which was odd, considering she was throwing those desperate puppy eyes at me like I was her last chance at salvation.“Donotrom,” I called to my wolf. He cracked an eyelid, growled, then went back to sleep. Typical. He’d worn himself out earlier barking about Keziah’s madness, and now that things were quiet, he wanted nothing to do with me.Fine. Nap away, big guy. Leave me to clean up this circus.I cleared my throat and raised my hand. “I have something to say.”Athena’s gaze snapped toward me… all sharp angles and irritation. The apostles leaned in too, ready. Axel grunted in what I assumed was approval—great, my

  • Alphas' contract mate   Chapter 31: Healer's daughter

Mia's POV The chamber doors shut with a thud that resounded in my ears long after everyone moved back into their routine. Including Cas who claimed she had been called to do something else. Alone again, I turned and started back to the hall Mary had pointed me to. Fuck. What just happened? Too many eyes had already found me today… too many questions would be asked about my strange existence. Yes. It was definitely a good idea to be far away from this place, regardless of the implication. When I reached the omega servants’ main hallway, the difference was obvious. The air wasn’t tense like in the Alpha main quarters. It was busier, noisier… like stepping into a marketplace but behind closed doors or something. The omegas here moved fast, carrying trays of delicious meals, empty trays, baskets of laundry, and several pails of water and rags. Behind me, two ladies were already whispering about the fight that had just happened, and the situation with… the apostle’s wife. The

  • Alphas' contract mate   Chapter 30: Alphonso's wife

Mia's POV “You killed my husband!” the woman shrieked like a banshee. Of course, Axel did. If he couldn't have a mate, then he was capable of rendering her mateless. I just hadn’t expected this woman’s fury and pain. I lifted my eyes and found Keziah watching the commotion with bloodshot eyes. He was obviously pissed to hell. I could tell from the heavy silence choking the hall. Alex appeared instantly, shutting the door behind him with inhuman speed. He signaled two gamma guards with a flick of his fingers, and they moved at once, blocking the door. Then his eyes shifted to a glossy white. He was transmitting with Axel. Whatever they were saying, no one else could hear. “You should rot in the Eclipsed Silence, Alpha Axel!” the woman spat, her voice cracking with rage. “Your rule is unfit for this pack. Are you so bitter about not having your mate that you murdered mine? You will never know the love of a true bond. None of the girls you bed will ever give you the satisfacti
