Asher’s POV

“What do you think happened to him?” Isabella asked, worry thick in her voice as we both stood by the bed, watching him lie there, motionless, his wounds freshly bandaged by the doctor.

“I don’t know, Bella,” I said, voice low and tight. “But whoever did this… they’ll pay.” My grip tightened around my phone as I pulled it out, about to call Michael. Before I could even dial, a knock sounded at the door.

It creaked open, and Michael stepped in.

“Asher,” he said, eyes meeting mine briefly before they flicked to Sean. His face froze. Eyes widening, he rushed toward the bed, then turned back to me. “What the hell happened?” His voice trembled with concern.

“I wish I knew,” I said, jaw clenched. “We’ll get answers as soon as Sean wakes up.”

Right on cue, a low groan broke through the air. Our heads snapped toward the bed. Sean stirred, weakly shifting as he tried to sit up.

“Sean!” I called, my voice breaking with relief and desperation. His eyes met mine, unfoc

Bella’s POV“Let go of me!” I yelled, my voice trembling with rage. “I don’t want to be here—I want out!”I jerked and twisted, trying to break free from their grip, but their hold only tightened.“You can’t leave,” one of the men said, his voice firm yet fearful. “We’ve been ordered to keep you here. If you escape, we lose our lives.”“You can’t leave, ma’am,” the other said from my right, his fingers digging into my arm.“Who?” I demanded, my throat raw. “Who brought me here?”Tears burned in my eyes as I struggled harder. “Just wait—my Alpha will come for you all. He’ll find me and get me out of here!” I cried, tears spilling freely down my cheeks.“That won’t happen.”The sound of his voice made my blood run cold. Zachary stepped into the room, his expression calm—too calm.“You,” I whispered, shock giving way to fury. Suddenly everything made sense—meeting him, trusting him—it was all a trap. I should have listened to Asher. I should never have come here.“Why am I here?” I spat,

Asher’s POV “Is this a joke?” I scoff. Moonlight skittered off a dozen pairs of eyes as I stood in the clearing, wolves from half the clans ringed around me. The circle felt tight, like a noose. “You called me here just to humiliate me.” A laugh—sharp, bitter—escaped me. “We are the Council,” the eldest stepped forward, his voice dry as old leaves. “We must protect our kind at all costs. You are a danger to our people.” A ripple of murmurs rolled through the crowd. My jaw tightened. How had I let myself fall for this? I’d thought maybe—stupid me—that he wanted to talk about something other than petty grievances. Old hags and their speeches. “I don’t need you protecting my pack,” I said, turning away. “Protect yours—keep me out of it.” “A hybrid,” he said, loud enough that more than a few heads snapped toward me. The word landed like a stone. “A wolf with human blood is taboo. Before you ruin us all, we have no choice but to kill you.” I laughed. It was a sound that didn’t

Zachary’s POV “You shouldn’t be here,” I say the moment I open the door, my voice sharp with annoyance. “Please, Zach… just let me in,” she pleads, already pushing her way inside before I can stop her. I let her. She paces the living room like a trapped animal, her hands trembling, her eyes darting everywhere but at me. I scoff. “If you came here to make another excuse—save it.” “I know I might be the worst mother alive,” she blurts out, desperation thick in her tone. “But everything I did, Zachary—everything—was for us. So we could have a better future.” My jaw tightens. “If that’s all you came here to say, I don’t want to hear it. You can leave now.” She scoffs and steps closer. “Look at me.” When she grabs my hand, I yank it away so fast she stumbles and falls to the floor. For a second, guilt flashes through me—but I bury it under the same cold annoyance she’s earned a thousand times over. “Do you really hate me that much?” she asks, her voice breaking as she looks up at me

Asher’s POV“Bella, listen to me.” I step closer until the heat from her skin reaches me. “I understand you have evidence, but you need to take a step back. These people are dangerous — they’ll do anything to stay in power. I can’t have you risking yourself in your condition.” My voice is low, even; I try to keep it steady for both of us.She frowns, jaw tightening. “I knew I shouldn’t have told you. I knew you’d try to stop me from getting my revenge.” Her words slice, sharp with hurt and stubbornness.“You don’t understand — I’m not trying to stop you from getting justice. I’m trying to stop you from getting hurt.” I reach for her; she turns away, shoulders folding like she wants to disappear. I move in front of her and take her hand. She jerks, tries to yank free, but I cram my fingers around hers and don’t let go. After a beat she stops pulling and exhales, defeated.“I promised your mother I’d protect you,” I say, the memory of her whispering that promise to me in a hospital room

Isabella’s POV“Asher, you need to come with me,” he says, voice firm — but the edge in his tone can’t hide the hurt trembling beneath it. His eyes are desperate, like he’s holding on to something already slipping through his fingers.I swallow hard. How do I explain that I can’t go with him — not now, not when I’m this close to getting what I want from Zach and his mother? One wrong move, and everything I’ve worked for will vanish.“I can’t, Asher.” My voice is steady, but my pulse betrays me. “You shouldn’t be here. Please… just leave.”He lets out a low, humorless scoff. “I’ll say this one last time, Bella. You’re coming with me.”There’s something in his tone — dark, final — that sends a shiver down my spine. I’ve seen Asher angry before, but never like this. This isn’t just anger. It’s pain, wrapped in fury.“What’s your fucking problem?” Zach snaps, stepping forward. “She doesn’t want to be with you anymore! Get that through your thick skull!”Asher’s gaze slices toward him — co

  • Alphas forbidden mate    Chapter 87

Asher’s POVThe screen of my phone glared back at me—empty. No message. No call. Nothing from Bella. My jaw tightened as I set it down a little harder than I meant to, the thud echoing in the quiet room. Weeks. It’s been weeks, and still silence. My thoughts twisted the same way they always did when she ignored me—straight to Zachary. Maybe she was with him now, laughing, whispering, forgetting I even existed. The thought coiled like poison in my stomach. I raked a hand through my hair and let out a long, frustrated sigh.A sharp knock at the door snapped me out of it. Before I could answer, Michael slipped inside. His face told me everything before he even spoke—bad news.“What’s the matter?” My voice was calm, but inside I braced myself.“Asher,” Michael began, voice tight, “nothing is going well. There’s a rumor… about your real identity.”I barked out a humorless scoff. “And what are they saying this time?”His eyes darted to mine, uneasy. “They’re saying you’re a hybrid. That you
