Chapter 21

When I returned from the bathroom only Beta Lucas remained in the room. His face turned towards the floor but his eyes looked distant. Rocking back and forth slowly from heal to toe.

I walked over to the bed and grabbed the clean robe that had been laid out. Sarah had obviously been here. The bed was made with clean sheets, all the bandages that had lined the floor were gone.

Rounding Beta Lucas to get in front of him, I shrunk down a little trying to catch his gaze. In his right hand he held a small piece of bandage covered in blood.
