Garrett arrived home after spending two nights with Vanessa. Without a word, he took off his suit jacket and carelessly tossed it onto the sofa.

Elara, who was sitting on the floor reading a picture book with Ollie, looked up for a moment. A sweet, unfamiliar perfume lingered in the air as Garrett walked past her. Elara didn't ask any questions. As usual, she chose to stay silent.

Garrett loosened his tie and stared at Elara with cold eyes. "Get my overnight bag from the car."

Elara lowered the book and was about to stand up. But before she could make a move, Ollie's small voice interrupted.

"Why does my Mommy have to get it?" the four-year-old boy protested with a frown. "Why don't you get it yourself?"

Elara froze. Ollie was usually too terrified to speak up, but now his eyes glared at his father with clear disapproval.

Garrett stopped in his tracks. He turned around slowly, his gaze sharpening. "What did you just say?"

"Mommy is tired..." Ollie whispered softly, his little fingers clutching the hem of Elara’s shirt.

The room went quiet. Garrett stepped toward his son, his face cold.

"Ollie, go to your room. Now," Garrett ordered, his voice trembling with suppressed anger.

Ollie shook his head rapidly. "No! Mommy hasn't finished reading the book!"

Elara touched Ollie’s shoulder in a panic, trying to calm him before Garrett snapped. "Ollie, sweetie... listen to your Daddy. Go to your room, we'll finish it tomorrow, okay?"

Tears welled up in Ollie's eyes. "But I still want to be with Mommy..."

Garrett left no room for negotiation. He grabbed Ollie by the arm and dragged him toward the bedroom. Ollie struggled and started crying, but Garrett shoved him inside and slammed the door so hard it echoed throughout the house.

When Garrett turned back to face Elara, his eyes were cold and dark.

"You taught him to disrespect me?" his voice was low, heavy, and full of threat.

"No, Garrett. I never—"

"Don't lie to me!" Garrett closed the distance in quick strides, grabbing a fistful of Elara’s hair and forcing her head back. Elara winced as a sharp pain shot through her scalp. "Since when does my own son have the nerve to talk back to me?! You’ve been poisoning his mind, haven't you?!"

"Garrett... let go... please..." Elara whimpered, her fingers desperately trying to pry his hand from her hair.

Garrett backhanded her across the face, the force spinning her head and knocking her onto the sofa. A sharp, burning sting flared across her cheek as her lip split.

Elara stayed curled on the sofa, clutching her burning cheek as tears overflowed.

"I bust my ass out there making money, and this is what I come home to?!" Garrett yelled. "A useless wife and a disrespectful brat!"

The commotion drew Audrey out of her bedroom. Seeing Elara slumped on the sofa, clutching her throbbing cheek, the older woman showed no trace of shock or pity—only sheer disgust.

"What is all this noise in the middle of the night?" Audrey scoffed. "Are you causing trouble again, Elara?"

Elara stayed curled up on the sofa, her body trembling as her cheek burned and the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..."

"Did you teach Ollie to be disrespectful to his father?" Audrey cut in coldly. "It’s bad enough that you're a financial burden to this family, now you want to ruin my grandson too?"

Garrett scoffed. "I told you from the very beginning, Mom. This woman has no class and doesn't belong in this house. She ruins everything."

Audrey crossed her arms, looking Elara up and down. "She is useless, yes, but at least she used to be obedient. If she's starting to act up, I will throw her out on the streets myself." Audrey shook her head and turned around. "Deal with her, Garrett. I'm going to bed."

After Audrey left, Garrett glared at Elara with icy eyes. "Get the bag from the car. Now."

Clutching her burning cheek and bleeding lip, Elara slowly uncurled herself from the sofa. Her scalp was still raw from his grip, but she had no choice. She forced herself to her feet and walked out into the cold night to fetch his bag.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, silence usually held Cassian Kenneth’s sprawling estate. Tonight, however, one wing was in utter chaos.

Anya's bedroom looked like a battlefield, plushies strewn across the rug, storybooks slung everywhere, and expensive toys dumped near the doorway.

Two private nannies looked completely overwhelmed.

"Miss Anya, it is way past your bedtime," one of the nannies coaxed gently.

Anya stood on top of her plush bed, crossing her arms over her chest with a deep pout. "Why do I have to sleep?"

"Because you have school tomorrow."

"Since when does going to school mean I have to sleep now?" Anya fired back quickly, then started bouncing on her mattress like a trampoline.

Amanda leaned back on the bedroom sofa, a glass in hand. She scrolled idly through her phone before letting out a soft sigh. She had zero intention of getting involved in taming her stubborn niece.

Suddenly, heavy and steady footsteps echoed down the hallway, approaching the room. Just as the sound grew louder, Anya threw a thick storybook straight toward the open doorway.

Smack.

A hand shot out and caught the book in mid-air, inches before it hit his face.

Cassian Kenneth stood in the doorway.

The entire room froze instantly. The nannies immediately bowed their heads, their bodies tense, while Anya remained standing on the bed, tilting her chin up to challenge her father.

The back of Elara’s knees hit the mattress. In one swift motion, Cassian shoved her onto the bed and leaned over her, pinning both her wrists above her head with one hand while using his knee to force her thighs apart.“Be quiet and just enjoy it,” Cassian whispered close to her ear, his voice low and strained with barely restrained desire.Elara trembled, fear gripping her chest. “You said... you wouldn't kill me,” she choked out.“I won't,” Cassian replied calmly. “I'll be gentle. Don't worry.”Tears slipped from the corners of Elara's eyes as she shook her head frantically. “It still hurts inside... I feel like I'm going to die. I'll start bleeding again.”Cassian froze, his brow furrowing as he looked down at her. “It still hurts?”Elara nodded quickly, her lips quivering.“Are you lying to me?” Cassian asked, his eyes narrowing."I'm not lying,” Elara whispered, trembling. “Just do whatever you want. If I'm dying after this, please don't leave my body out on the street. Just kill

“Oh… look at her. No wonder she’s comfortable being some old rich guy’s plaything,” one of the women sneered.“Probably old enough to be her grandfather,” another woman whispered.“I bet he's some wrinkled old man with sagging skin and a potbelly,” another added with a snicker. The image they conjured was revolting. But Cassian was nothing like that, Elara thought. He was forty-two, but tall and well-built, with broad shoulders and well-defined abs. His skin was smooth and unlined, showing no signs of aging. The only thing that had unsettled her was the dark tattoo covering his back. When they first met, she'd thought he was in his early thirties. Nothing about Cassian looked old. If anything, it was the cold authority he carried that terrified her.Elara clenched her fists, forcing herself not to snap. She kept her head down, pretending to focus on the rows of books in front of her.Unfortunately, Hailey and her two friends kept whispering loudly enough for Elara to hear every word

For the past two weeks, Cassian had buried himself in an overwhelming amount of work. The doctor had made it clear that Elara needed more time to recover before they could be intimate again. He regretted letting his desire get the better of him that night. Now, no matter how badly he wanted her, he had to keep his distance until she was fully recovered. He ordered Bianca to fill his schedule with meetings from early morning until late at night. He scrutinized his energy company’s financial reports down to the last cent, even taking on minor tasks he could easily have delegated.Unwilling to suffer through his frustration alone, he dragged his subordinates into an endless cycle of stress and overtime. He did it all for one simple reason, to distract himself from his primal urges. Before he knew it, fourteen days had passed. That morning, Elara was back in the kitchen making breakfast for Anya. She had cut slices of whole wheat bread into tiny rabbit and bear shapes, then decorated them

When Elara opened her eyes, she found herself lying in the guest room she usually stayed in."Mommy! You're awake!"Anya sat cross-legged beside her, beaming as she threw her arms around Elara’s neck."Anya?" Elara murmured, gently rubbing the little girl’s back. But when she tried to lift her hand, she felt a slight tug at the back of it. An IV line was taped to the back of her hand and connected to an IV pole beside the bed.Elara frowned in confusion.“How are you feeling?” a neatly dressed woman asked, startling her.Elara turned toward the voice.“I'm the doctor who was called to examine you,” the woman explained, stepping closer.Elara nodded slowly."Still dizzy? Any nausea or pain?" the doctor asked. Her suspicions had begun to grow during the examination. Elara had dark bruises on her body, abrasions around her wrists, and a vaginal tear that required stitches.Elara shook her head. “No.” She tried to move her legs, but winced as a sharp pain shot between her thighs, remindin

Cassian looked down at Elara, who was a mess beneath him, breathing heavily. He removed Elara’s blindfold.Elara blinked several times, tears blurring her vision. She drew a shallow breath and squinted.Slowly, the figure above her came into focus.Elara swallowed hard. Cassian was naked above her, his abs and muscular arms exposed to the light. He watched her with a calm, unreadable expression. He pulled out of her and looked down, his hand still wrapped around his shaft as he caught his breath.Elara’s eyes widened at the size of it. That was what had been sliding in and out of her body all this time? It had already looked intimidating when it was pulled from his pants, but now it seemed even bigger.Horror washed over her anew. It was over, but the pain between her thighs remained. Cassian lay down beside her casually. "Did you enjoy it?" he asked.Elara turned toward him, startled by the question. What was there to enjoy about pain? Was he satisfied? She was being paid to be his

Cassian lifted his head from between Elara’s thighs. With the black blindfold still covering her eyes, Elara bit down hard on her lower lip. Her body still trembled slightly, and she didn't know how to react to the unfamiliar sensations.Elara sighed in relief when Cassian finally pulled away.Cassian watched as Elara drew her legs together and tried to cover herself with her bound hands."Okay then, I'll cook lunch for you. Or dinner. Aren't you going to work?" Elara asked.“It's my wedding day. Why would I work?” Cassian muttered, pressing a soft kiss to Elara's lips before moving down to her neck.“Oh. Okay,” Elara replied, squirming as Cassian kissed her neck.As Cassian kissed Elara's skin, he continued stroking his erection to keep it hard."Um... Cassian, can I ask you a question?" Elara asked, sounding frustrated as Cassian tasted her again."Ask.""Are you using your tongue instead of your penis... because you don't want a child?" Elara asked innocently, genuinely curious abo
