The sharp sound of metal striking metal echoed through the fencing hall.

I swung my sword at Rachel again and again, each strike fast and forceful. She blocked my attacks, but I didn't slow down.

Rachel was already panting, sweat dripping down her forehead, but I didn't stop.

Every time I swung, I saw his face.

Every time I stepped forward, I heard his words.

"I never loved you."

A sharp thrust. Rachel barely blocked it.

"Every time we made love, I was thinking of Scarlett."

Another strike. Rachel stumbled back.

The memory burned through me like acid. Ethan's voice still echoed in my mind, cutting deeper than any blade ever could.

I gritted my teeth and lunged again, my movements sharper, faster. Rachel let out a breathless curse as she struggled to keep up.

"Katelyn, you need to-" She barely dodged my next attack. "Take a damn break!"
