MasukChapter 6 — UNSTABLE INSTINCTS
“Please.” Caius muttered under his breath. Then he scoffed softly. “Alphas don’t use that word.” Miguel’s fingers tightened weakly around his sleeve, his breaths uneven and burning. Caius looked down at him for a long second before the corner of his lips lifted faintly. “Oh,” he said quietly. “Sorry. But an omega would.” Miguel froze. The words slammed into him harder than the drugs felt. “What…?” His voice came out hoarse. “What omega?” His instincts immediately rejected it. He was an Alpha. A top-tier Alpha. The strongest in Juvenile Academy. There was no way— But before he could force the words out properly, Caius stepped closer. Miguel barely had time to react before Caius bent down and lifted him effortlessly like he weighed nothing. Miguel’s eyes widened. Caius carried him toward the bed with calm ease, completely unaffected by the pheromones flooding the room. The mattress dipped as he placed Miguel down carefully against the bed. Miguel’s body was trembling now, heat still pulsing under his skin in vicious waves. Caius reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled out a small silver packet before tossing it onto Miguel’s chest. “Omega suppressants,” he said calmly. “Take it before your instincts get worse.” Miguel stared at him in disbelief for half a second before ripping the packet open with shaky fingers. He swallowed the suppressant quickly. For a while, neither of them spoke. The room stayed heavy with the scent of peach blossoms and something colder beneath it, something unfamiliar that only seemed to steady Miguel’s spiraling instincts whenever Caius moved closer. Slowly, the suppressant began working. The violent heat had now eased enough for Miguel to breathe properly again, but the ache underneath remained. His body still felt overly sensitive, restless and painfully aware of the person standing beside the bed. The drug was far stronger than anything he had expected. Caius leaned against the desk nearby, his arms crossed loosely. “You look pathetic.” Miguel shot him a glare immediately. “You planned this?” Miguel muttered after a moment. Caius tilted his head. “Wrong. I thought, you planned it?” Miguel clicked his tongue in frustration and dragged a hand through his face, still feeling restless. Caius breathed out softly, “you’re still holding onto my sleeve.” Miguel blinked. Only then did he realize his fingers were still clenched around the fabric near Caius’s wrist. He let go immediately. Caius looked down at the crumpled sleeve before glancing back at him. “You should see the school nurse after all this.” He walked toward the door slowly, one hand slipping into his hoodie pocket again. “And,” he added, pausing by the doorway. Miguel looked up immediately. Caius’s gaze rested on him for a second longer.“Your instincts might have changed.” With that, he walked out. Miguel stared blankly at the closed door, Caius’s words echoing loudly inside his head. There was no way an S tier Alpha instincts could change. The thought alone irritated him. No— worse than irritation. Fear. Miguel dragged a shaky hand across his face, his body finally calm but he felt exhausted. His room still smelled overwhelmingly of peach blossoms. He hated it. His chest rose and fell slowly as he leaned back against the pillows, trying not to fall asleep but then, he still slept off. Evening came slowly. Miguel stared blankly at the ceiling, having just woken from his sleep. His head felt heavy and hazy, his body unusually exhausted like every ounce of strength had been drained from him overnight. Trying to get down from the bed, his legs nearly gave out beneath him. “Tch—” He caught himself against the edge of the desk with a sharp breath, irritation immediately flashing across his face. His muscles felt weak and sensitive. Wrong. Miguel’s brows furrowed deeply. That stupid drug should’ve worn off already. He dragged himself toward the bathroom mirror, his steps slower than usual. The moment he looked up, he froze slightly. His face looked flushed. His skin looked warmer than normal and the scent of peach still lingered faintly around him. Usually his pheromones stayed sharp and controlled unless he willingly released them, but now they slipped out unconsciously in soft waves. Miguel clicked his tongue in annoyance and splashed cold water against his face. It didn’t help. Caius’s words echoed again. “Your instincts might have changed.” “Bullshit,” Miguel muttered under his breath immediately. There was no way. No drug in existence could force an S-tier Alpha into becoming an omega. It was biologically impossible. Right? His jaw tightened. A knock suddenly sounded at the door. “Miguel?” Dax’s voice came from outside. “You alive in there?” Miguel’s expression darkened immediately. “What do you want?” “The hell kinda question is that?” Dax muttered from behind the door. “You disappeared after training and skipped every class. Ash said your pheromones were all over the hallway earlier. Did something happen?” Miguel stiffened instantly. So people noticed. Annoyance flashed through him again. “Nothing happened,” he said coldly. There was a pause outside before Dax spoke again, sounding unconvinced. “…Right. Anyway, the dorm supervisor’s pissed. Said if you don’t show up for evening attendance, he’s reporting it.” Miguel rubbed a hand over his face tiredly. “Fine.” “And,” Dax added hesitantly, “that transfer guy was asking about you earlier.” Miguel’s hand stopped moving. His eyes narrowed slightly toward the door. “What?” “Yeah,” Dax continued. “He asked if you were still alive.” Dax snorted. “Guy’s weird as hell.” Silence filled the room. Miguel stared toward the floor blankly for a second before straightening slowly. “Get lost, Dax.” “The hell—” “Now.” Dax muttered something under his breath before his footsteps finally disappeared down the hallway. Miguel exhaled quietly once the room became silent again. Then his gaze drifted toward the suppressant packet still lying near the bed. His expression darkened. Miguel’s fingers curled slowly at his side.“What the hell are you…?” he muttered quietly.CHAPTER THIRTEEN — Fever DreamsAfter sleeping almost the entire day, Miguel still felt terrible. His pheromones had stayed painfully unstable the whole time. Every few hours, another wave of heat would crawl beneath his skin until Caius silently handed him another suppressant patch without even looking up from whatever book he was reading. At first Miguel took them shamelessly. By the fifth patch, he started feeling guilty, because Caius’s suppressants were running out embarrassingly fast now.Miguel laid face down against the bed with half his face buried into the pillow, glaring weakly at absolutely nothing. His entire body still felt overheated.“This is so stupid…” he muttered hoarsely. The room smelled heavily of suppressants now. Miguel slowly pushed himself upright with a groan. His head immediately throbbed painfully. “…Ow.”Across the room, Caius sat calmly on the small couch near the window, one leg crossed over the other while flipping over pages of whatever book he was ho
CHAPTER TWELVE — Just Like ChaosMiguel was already regretting this.“This is ridiculous,” he muttered under his breath while shoving another hoodie into the half opened bag lying on Caius’s floor. The room stayed silent except for the occasional sound of pages turning.Miguel glanced up irritably.Caius was laying comfortably on the bed with one leg bent slightly, completely relaxed while reading yet another novel like Miguel moving his entire life into his room wasn’t his problem at all.Actually, It technically wasn’t.Miguel clicked his tongue and continued unpacking aggressively.Unlike most students at Juvenile Academy, Miguel had always stayed alone. Usually rooms were shared between two students. Sometimes even three if dorms became crowded. But Miguel Ashford was different. Because his father practically owned half the Academy. So nobody complained when Miguel got an entire room to himself and now Caius...But somehow, he ended up voluntarily moving into Caius’s room. Miguel p
CHAPTER ELEVEN — A Deal With The DevilSitting at the same table with Caius felt weird.Miguel placed the two cafeteria trays down stiffly before taking the seat opposite him. The entire cafeteria had already gotten quieter the moment he walked in carrying food himself. For Caius.Caius looked down at the tray calmly before lifting his eyes slowly toward Miguel. “You remembered I don’t eat tomatoes.”Miguel’s jaw tightened immediately. “You said it yesterday.”“Mm.”That stupid calm reaction somehow irritated him more.Across the cafeteria, Dax and Ash stared at the scene like they’d just witnessed the apocalypse.“…No,” Dax whispered slowly. “Absolutely not.”Ash’s expression looked darker than usual, his eyes fixed directly on Caius like he wanted to throw him through a wall.Because what the hell were they looking at right now?Miguel Ashford? Serving someone?Worse. Serving a Beta.“What did he do to him?” Dax muttered under his breath, horrified.Ash stayed silent. If looks could
CHAPTER TEN — Stay Close to HimA knock suddenly echoed against the classroom door. The professor paused mid sentence with an annoyed expression. “Yes?”The door slid open slightly before one of the staffs stepped inside nervously. “Sorry for the interruption, sir.” His eyes quickly searched the classroom before landing on Miguel. “Miguel Ashford?”Every head turned immediately.Miguel frowned slightly from his seat. “What?”“The office needs you immediately.”A few students whispered quietly.Dax leaned back in his chair. “Damn. What did you do now?”Miguel ignored him completely and stood up slowly. The moment he stepped out into the hallway, the staff’s expression changed immediately into something uneasy.Miguel noticed. “What?”The older man hesitated before speaking carefully. “Your father has been trying to contact you since yesterday.”Miguel’s expression instantly darkened.Of course. His phone was still filled with missed calls from both his father and the family secretary.
CHAPTER NINE — Morning AfterThe rays of sunlight slipped quietly through the thin gap between the curtains, stretching across the bed in soft golden lines.Miguel stirred slowly. His brows furrowed faintly before his eyes finally opened. For a few seconds, he just stared blankly at the ceiling, still half asleep. Then reality hit him. Miguel sat up abruptly ignoring the pain that shot through him. The blanket slipped slightly from his shoulders as he looked around the room quickly. The overwhelming scent was completely gone now.Silence filled the room quietly. Miguel blinked once before a small breath of relief escaped him unconsciously. His body no longer felt unstable. The heat was gone too. Slowly, Miguel pushed the blanket aside and stood up from the bed carefully, almost expecting his legs to give out again. But they didn’t. His body felt normal and stable now. Miguel stared down at himself for a second before a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.“So it was temporary
CHAPTER EIGHT — Locked AwayThree whole days and Miguel had stayed locked inside his room. He hadn’t gathered the courage to step outside even once. His mind had become a constant clouded mess, thoughts crashing into each other until he couldn’t tell which ones were rational anymore. Every time he thought about opening the door, another question immediately followed. What if everyone was right? What if the hospital results weren’t wrong? What if Caius had already told people? His chest tightened again.Talking about people…His friends had been knocking on his door nonstop since the first day. Dax especially.“Miguel! Open the damn door already!” A loud bang followed from outside.Miguel pulled the blanket further over his head irritably.“You’ve been inside for three days!” Dax yelled again through the door. “If you’re dead, at least let me confirm it!”Miguel shut his eyes harder.“I know you’re awake,” Ash’s voice came this time, calmer but still annoyed. “Your pheromones are so di
