Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: That’s All
“So you really don't care if we're late to our own wedding?”

Teagan met my eyes, her voice firm.

“Nothing matters more than marrying you.”

Before, I would’ve bought that.

This time, nothing stirred within me.

It wasn’t that she thought I mattered.

She simply thought the writing was in the stars—I would surely marry her.

So what if I was hurt, embarrassed, late for our wedding? The wedding would happen anyway.

At long last, Teagan dug out a dark blue tie.

“This works.”

Luke handed the tie back to Teagan with a smile.

“I can never get my tie right.

“Teagan, help me out, will you?”

Riley scowled.

Yet, Teagan didn’t even think twice.

Taking the tie, Teagan got up on her toes, draped it around his collar, and carefully tied it.

Luke lowered his gaze at her, a grin playing at his lips.

“You’re always so good at this.”

Teagan smiled.

“You’re always like this, always messing up at the worst possible times.”

They looked like a couple wrapped up in their own cozy world.

Meanwhile, I, the groom, stood beside them like a third wheel.

I caught murmurs among the crowd.

“Is this really appropriate?”

“The bride’s fixing the best man’s tie?”

Riley broke, her voice shaking.

“That’s enough.”

Teagan’s fingers slipped, and the knot of Luke’s tie went crooked.

Luke furrowed his brows.

“Shoot. It’s all lopsided now.

“Do you mind redoing it, Teagan?”

Teagan shot a look at Riley, her tone harsh.

“Why did you have to startle me? It’s messed up, so now it’s going to take longer to fix the tie.”

Riley’s arms trembled in rage.

I pulled Riley back and spun around to look at Teagan.

“Teagan, it’s 8:53 AM now. You’re supposed to walk down the aisle in seven minutes.

“Are you coming with me now or staying behind for Luke?”

Teagan pulled a grimace.

“Parker, can you stop pushing me?”

Luke sighed.

“Parker, you’re taking this too far.

“You’re such a groomzilla. Don’t turn me into your punching bag.”

I held their gaze, my voice flat as I said, “Fine. Carry on.

“I’ll be at my wedding on time.”

…

It was 8:54 AM when my father, Norman, arrived on the scene.

He pushed past the crowd, his voice urgent.

“What’s taking so long? Everyone’s waiting at the church?”

No one spoke.

Pete said icily, “The best man forgot his tie. The bride’s just here to tie it for him.”

With a sour expression, Norman looked at Teagan.

“So you’re making Parker wait?”

Teagan pursed her lips. “Norman, it’s only a few minutes—”

“Don’t give me that!”

Norman cut her off.

Silence hung heavily in the air.

Teagan’s face stiffened.

Norman pointed at the time on his phone screen.

“It’s five to nine right now. The wedding starts at nine. It took months of planning. The entire wedding schedule was built around it.

“The invitations, transportation, venue, officiant—every part of the wedding has been scheduled around 9:00 AM.

“And now you want to tell me it’s only a few minutes?”

Teagan kept her voice down.

“Norman, I’m not neglecting Parker, but Luke is his best friend.

“It’s a big day today. Can’t we all just be a little civil?”

Norman smirked in rage.

“Civil? The groom is standing here in his tuxedo while his bride fixes the best man’s tie, and somehow, I’m not the civil one?

“I guess it’s civil of you to make a joke out of my family.”

Teagan was lost for words.

  • Another Bride at the Altar   Chapter 12

“You were the best man, not the groom.” Someone else chimed in. “You didn’t just forget your tie. “You forgot your place.” Luke went pale in rage. He said, “Parker acted on his emotions and got married to another woman. How is that my fault?” All the reason why no one was on Luke’s side. “The guy gave her every opportunity. “The video captured him asking Teagan whether she was going to walk down the aisle just a minute before the scheduled time.“She prioritized doing your tie anyway. “It’s hard to believe that nothing was going on between you two.” Luke later approached management, claiming that he had been singled out. The manager asked, “Was that you in the footage?” Luke had no words. Within a few days, he handed in his resignation. Apparently, Luke didn’t even pack his stuff. He simply slunk away on his last day. Life wasn’t easy for Teagan either. Her family had turned up for the big day, only to encounter the humiliating spectacle. Utterly disgra

Felicity would tell the whole world that it was her choice. She finally got her happy ending. While leaving the Dow residence, I spotted Teagan in the neighborhood. She stood by the curb, dressed in a pale trench coat. In just a few days, Teagan lost a lot of weight, and her eyes were bloodshot. Noticing me, she approached me right away. “Parker.” Felicity stopped walking. I squeezed her hand, reassuring her that she didn’t need to step aside. Teagan turned pale when her gaze fell on our intertwined fingers. “So you’re officially married now?” I replied, “Yeah.” Her eyes went red. “So soon?” I held her gaze calmly. “We already had the wedding. “Signing the papers was just completing the legal formalities.” Teagan bit her lip. “Parker, I’d like a word with you.” Not saying anything, Felicity simply kept her eyes on me. I responded, “I’ll pass. “There’s nothing left for us to discuss in private.” Teagan’s voice trembled. “I know I messed up.

Felicity mingled with the crowd, greeting and talking to every guest there. She even knew some of the older family members from my hometown by name. Riley pulled her aside and asked her, “How do you know?” Felicity replied with a smile, “Riley. “I used to come over all the time as a kid. Have you forgotten?” Riley’s eyes welled up. “I could never forget. “How could I?” She took Felicity’s hand and observed her face. “Who knew you were the one who married my son in the end?” Felicity murmured, “I never imagined it either. “But I couldn’t be happier.”Standing not too far away, I watched the interaction between Riley and Felicity with a sense of peace I hadn’t felt in a long time. It was as if I had taken the longest road imaginable, only to finally end up exactly where I was meant to be. That afternoon, the estate was bombarded with calls from the Rippleses. I ignored every single one of them. Eventually, Norman answered the call. Something was said on t

Standing at the door, I observed the changes in the suite. Everything felt surreal. Felicity placed the bouquet on the table and looked back at me. “What’s the matter? “Do you think I’ve been plotting all this while?” I asked, “Haven’t you?” Felicity chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed, her train spreading out across the floor. “Yes. “Guilty as charged. “It had been my plan all along.” She looked up at me, not shying away from my gaze. “I knew you were getting married the moment I returned. “I knew I should stay out of your life. “But I’ve seen Teagan with Luke. “I watched how you made excuses for her every time. “My heart ached for you, Parker.” I felt a lump in my throat. “Was that why you said yes?” Keeping her head down, Felicity smiled. “I meant what I said years ago—at least half of it.“I told you to drop me a text if she ever made a fool out of you. “I’ll show up in a wedding dress to marry you. “You called me crazy.” That memory c

“Parker. “You weren’t late this time.” I held Felicity’s hand tight. “Neither were you.” …After the ceremony, the arguing outside the church grew louder. Teagan finally pushed her way through to the church doors. Her wedding dress was a mess. Her veil had fallen crookedly over her shoulder, and her eyes were swollen from crying. Luke came after her, his dark blue tie perfectly straight over his collar. The whole thing was just ironic. Teagan stood at the doorway, her body going stiff when she saw Felicity and me standing side by side. She spotted the wedding ring on Felicity’s finger. The bouquet was still cradled in Felicity’s arms. The flowers were scattered across the altar, marking the end of a ceremony. Her voice turned hoarse. “You… got married?” No one answered her. The truth was plain as day. Feeling triggered, Teagan lunged forward. “Parker! “Did you honestly go through with marrying her? “You were supposed to marry me!” Standing by m

  • Another Bride at the Altar   Chapter 7

“Let us begin. “May we have the groom, Parker Day, at the altar, so our bride, Felicity Dow, can begin her walk down the aisle.“Please rise as we welcome the groom.”The church bell rang with the wedding music playing in the background. Applause and excited whispers erupted around us as the church suddenly came alive. The huge sign with my name and Teagan’s was taken down almost immediately. Felicity made sure her people replaced it with a new one. The frame carried gold lettering against a clean canvas. The bride’s name had been updated. I was stunned. Noticing my gaze, Felicity tilted her head and winked at me. “I told you. I came prepared. “You didn’t think I’d show up without having my ducks in a row, did you?” I stared into Felicity’s eyes, a catch in my throat. She hadn’t come here on a whim. It wasn’t some spur-of-the-moment decision. Felicity had thought of every likely scenario and made every possible plan. All she had been waiting for was for me
