Chapter 2

作者: Tranquil Silence
My relationship with Greyson had been good until Elise came along.

When there were no classes, Greyson would buy me breakfast and have a female classmate deliver it to the dormitory for me. That female classmate was Elise. I was embarrassed at first, but Elise always waved her hand and said it was not a big deal.

To show his gratitude, Greyson would buy Elise a portion as well. She always smiled and praised Greyson, "You're so nice. If only my boyfriend were handsome and considerate too. Nicola is so lucky to have a boyfriend like you!"

Gradually, she and I grew more familiar with each other. When there were no classes, she would even deliberately get Greyson to pick me up after class.

When I saw her, she would enthusiastically hug me and accuse Greyson, "He didn't even want to come to see you! He only came because I made him! You have to teach him a lesson!"

Greyson smiled and touched her head, nodding affectionately.

I did feel a little uncomfortable on the inside at the time, but I had no idea why.

Later, when she praised Greyson, she would subtly insult me. "Nicola, you're just too carefree. You're not gentle and considerate at all. Girls should learn to be considerate of others. You're so ordinary-looking, so you should cherish a man like Greyson!"

Due to my childhood experiences, I had low self-esteem to begin with. Elise's constant belittling only made it plummet even further, and I felt intensely uneasy.

Greyson noticed this but thought I was being dramatic.

Not long after, Greyson played a piano piece during an arts festival. I was held up by other things, so I gave the crochet flowers to Elise to pass on to him.

After the performance, I finished my tasks and rushed backstage.

Greyson's voice sounded. "Nicola is inferior to you in everything. Even her taste is worse than yours. These flowers are really ugly. As expected of an adopted child. You're right; an ugly duckling won't ever become a swan!"

I froze, my hand slowly lowering from the doorknob. I had not expected him to tell Elise about my background.

Elise's voice was shocked but carried a hint of joy. "Why did you throw the flowers away? Do you think they're ugly?"

He hummed in agreement. His voice pierced my heart like a sharp thorn. "She likes giving me these ugly things, but I don't like them at all. Forget it. Let's go celebrate."

His words ripped my heart open like a sharp blade, leaving me embarrassed.

They were about to come out, so I quickly hid in the fire escape. After everyone left, I retrieved the crochet bouquet from the trash can.

Greyson, who suddenly returned, bumped into me. A look of awkwardness appeared in his eyes. "Nicola, I forgot to take the flowers."

I dodged his outstretched hand. "The bouquet you have is fine. You don't need this one."

My gaze fell on the red roses in his arms.

He was taken aback, followed by annoyance at being exposed. "Why are you making a fuss? I told you I left them behind! And these red roses are much prettier than your stupid flower! Elise is prettier than you and better than you in every way!"

It felt like a knife had been plunged into my heart. I stared at him in disbelief. "You think so too?"

Lately, I often heard my classmates say that I was jealous of Elise, which was why I was always arguing with Greyson. However, no one had considered that Greyson and I were a couple, and she had forced her way in between us.

His tone was impatient. "What did I say wrong? You're just jealous of Elise! Why won't you admit it? Everyone can see it! She's prettier, yet I'm with you. Shouldn't you cherish me more?"

Seeing that I did not react, he took the scarf Elise had left on the table and left. That evening, Greyson seemed to realize he had gone too far and apologized with a gift. "Nicola, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. This is the doll you like. I went out of my way to buy it."

My gaze fell on another bag, and I had a premonition. I asked, "What's this?"

"This one's for Elise. She likes it too. You can give it to her when you go upstairs later."

Even when he bought me an apology gift, he bought another gift for Elise. I felt wronged, and a lump formed in my throat. "Greyson, haven't you noticed you've changed?"

"Don't you think you've changed?" he countered.

Tears welled up in my eyes, and my voice choked. "I've changed? Yeah, I really have. Elise's ostracism and belittling have made me insecure, sensitive, and even tormented!"

"Don't talk about her like that! She's not like that!" His eagerness to defend Elise was especially jarring. It felt like needles were pricking my heart.

  • Another Spring   Chapter 11

What I did not expect was that even the two thugs from back then were hired by Greyson. Both of them confessed to what had happened at that time.Later, my life returned to normal. The next time I heard news about Greyson, a long time had already passed. It was the news of his suicide.Although the Tromp family was bankrupt, they were still powerful. They still brought Greyson out of prison, but Greyson committed suicide on the day he was released. When I saw the news, I felt only surprise before I subconsciously swiped away. The Tromp family sent Greyson's letter of farewell to me. On the day I received it, I went to the cemetery with a bouquet of flowers from the flower shop. After getting out of the car, I walked to a grave. The weather was very cold. I placed the flowers at the grave, my voice choking slightly. "Kelly, the bad guys who hurt you have been caught. I miss you very much."After losing the baby, I found the fetus in the bin for medical waste. She was seven months

After so much pain and hurt, Greyson wanted to erase it all with just one sentence? How ridiculous!I held up my phone in front of him. "Elise is cyberbullying me. I want you and her to be like me back then. I want you two to lose everything, including your reputation, future, child, and health!""Okay!" His voice was very hoarse, as if it had been scrubbed by thick sandpaper. He gave me a meaningful look and then turned around to leave.More than ten minutes later, Greyson posted a letter and a clarification video. He had inherited the Tromp family's company and could obtain the hospital's surveillance footage with just one order. After posting the surveillance video, he also recorded a video explaining things."I broke up with Nicola because of Elise's scheme. She admitted it herself in the hospital! My former classmates and I were all deceived by her. The incident with the thugs and the photos were all instigated by her! "She ruined my relationship with Nicola and made us miss

What happened to Elise and Greyson was revenge enough. That night, I bought a plane ticket to Howoi to relax.Meanwhile, the video of my argument with Elise in the hospital was edited and posted online. She was a small influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers. Her fans rushed to her defense, and there were also rumors of infidelity that everyone enjoyed gossiping about.Elise also posted a video that was a few seconds long. In the blurry video, she was pregnant and sitting in a mess. It was obvious that everything that could be broken had been broken. A serious argument must have taken place. Her hair was messy, and she was crying like a baby. "You won! Why did you have to take what's mine? What will happen to my baby without a father? Why couldn't you leave me alone? How can you be qualified to be a doctor? You're even a maternity doctor!"Seeing her belly, she was still pregnant at the time. She had recorded it in advance. It turned out she came to the hospital to fa

Back at the present moment, I shook off Greyson's hand. Hatred swam in my eyes, and I felt the urge to tear him apart. "Yes, it was your baby!"His eyes immediately turned red as he said hoarsely, "I thought it was... I didn't know it was my baby. I wanted to lead you in the right direction. I thought you were pregnant with a thug's baby?"I was filled with extreme hatred, and I could not help laughing. "Lead me in the right direction? Didn't you force me to drop out of university? You forced everything!"Elise's expression was malicious. "You're just unlucky!"I was indeed unlucky. I was abandoned by my parents when I was little and then by the Tromp family. Depression, stalked, dropped out of school, and abortion... This journey had been tough, yet I endured it and made it through!I bent over laughing. Finally, I swallowed the anger stuck in my throat and wiped the tears from my eyes. "I'm unlucky? It doesn't matter! I've already made it through! I'm doing well now, but that mi

I did not care about the slander Elise threw at me. All I felt was my injured hand from back then hurting. Everyone looked furious. "How can you let this homewrecker become a doctor? Who knows if she'll be jealous of us and take it out on us?""Exactly! Homewreckers have bad intentions. They're malicious!""We have to get the hospital to explain this to us!"I looked around. The memory of being bullied by Elise back then was still vivid in my mind. She shoved me, her eyes full of anger, as if she wanted to devour me alive.I could not help smirking and retorting, "You're the homewrecker! You don't remember how you ended up with Greyson?"Elise's expression froze for a moment as she stopped her actions. The intern from before quickly helped me up from the ground. I looked at Elise. "Who's the homewrecker here? Didn't you try every means to break up Greyson and me and then get together with him?"I took out the pen hanging on my chest and pressed the cap.Elise's voice rang ou

The past events had mostly faded from my memory, but I still felt a bit sad whenever I thought of them.I drove into the small village and entered the clinic from back then."Why are you so late today?" Miranda Lewis asked.I picked up the white coat on the side and put it on. "Something delayed me."Seeing people's confusion, Miranda proudly said, "This is my child. She works at the city hospital and comes to help me after work."I smiled and lowered my head, continuing to fiddle with the medicine. After dropping out of school, I rented a place outside the city.Back then, before attempting suicide, I went to Miranda's clinic to have my cast removed. It hurt a lot, and the fracture had not healed, but I wanted to see her one last time. She was one of the few people who had shown me kindness. Later, she mentioned that she could not forget the look in my eyes after I left the clinic. It was so desperate and numb yet determined. She felt she would only be relieved if she saw m
