AIDENS POV.

Marcus was still on the line, talking about something, maybe his new outfit or whatever show he was binging, but I couldn’t focus. My head felt heavy like I had too many tabs open at once. I kept saying

“yeah,” “uh-huh,” just to fill the silence, but nothing stuck. My mind kept drifting back to earlier — to Devin — to that stupid argument that still burned in my head. I hated that it did. I hated that he still got to me.

Marcus’ voice softened, like he could tell I was miles away.

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 192

Devin POV As soon as we concluded with those people I was sure that there was nothing else that was left for us to deal with besides just making sure that we just enjoyed the entire process. I had never been given such a genuine check in my entire life and it was cool to see that I did not have anything to worry about anymore. Aiden and I were going to find a way to balance this company and make sure that they don't come between us our relationship. "How we were able to negotiate for certain amount of money is crazyyyy!" I exclaimed as soon as we entered he spent penthouse. There were a whole lot of things that needed to be put into perspective and the fact that he was willing to stick around even though I behaved as if I didn't want him close to me was something that I was never going to forget. In fact I have been very particular about making sure that I am not crossing any major lines. I just wanted to see that everything was completely dealt with and that we did not have too

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 191

Devin POV Aiden hated being put on the spot no matter who was involved. In fact it was one of the things that made him even more endearing to me. Nobody was ever going to make him feel like he was trying to get his hands on another person's properties. He was too proud for that. Instead of that he was going to look for a solution that was going to be better for him and anyone involved instead of just fighting for something that he considered trivial. "He's not going to be interested in whatever position you want to give to him and that's one of the reasons I'm comfortable with him being here." I remarked. He wasn't that kind of a person so I was not going to allow anyone try to make him feel less of himself or try to do anything that was going to make me even angry at accepting whatever treatment was about to be thrown at him. I was the one who was concerned with a lot of baggage and I was going to make it as light as possible so that we did not fight over the most stupid thing

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 190

Aiden POV As if I knew that this was going to turn into something more of an argument than both of us strength to understand each other I decided to act like a fool so that the both of us did not have any thing to worry about. I was also concerned about the fact that there was going to be a whole lot of listening party is that was not going to make this easy for me For him this was one of those things that he could readily deal with but for me it was something of a vulnerability point of view and I didn't think that I wanted to allow myself to be that lenient with anyone who decided to come in contact with me. I just wanted to become one of those people who did not have anything to worry about and for now it seemed as if there was going to be something difficult for us to handle and I was looking for ways to make sure that I did not remain in that space. The meeting began and even though I didn't think that it was going to yield anything seriously I was pleasantly surprised when

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 189

Devin POV "Wait," his commanding voice sent shivers through my spine and I found myself turning instinctively even though I had promised myself that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with this man."I didn't know that you were supposed to meet up with me. Why didn't you use your regular business name and why did you try to change things around? It is almost as if you're just trying to act crazy and I don't think I like it." Aiden responded to me. From what I was hearing right now it was almost as if he knew exactly who I was coming to meet and he was trying to act like he didn't and as much as that would have been romantic to a lot of people it was irritating to me. "I don't think you understand that I'm not in the mood for all of this shenanigans and if you have anything tangible to say you could go ahead and say it instead of trying to beat around the bush and act like everyone here is completely daft. I came here simply because somebody invited me and I have been speaking to thi

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 188

Aiden POV I should have realized a long time ago that if there was going to be someone who wanted to bring me out of this dates that I currently was it was only the person who decided that he didn't want anything that was going to stress me out and the only way that I could do that was to focus on him.My delay was the fact that I did not always allow myself to be able to get things to be done at the right time. "You better stop stressing anybody out, and just try to focus on what exactly needed to be done because it was not going to be easy to just sweep under the carpet. If someone is trying to get both of us together then we have to also be very careful so that we don't lose our minds in the process or allow anybody change the trajectory of our growth." I answered. I have been thinking about how long it was going to take to be able to find a better bridge that was not going to stress me out or that was not going to make things even become more harder to get in touch with. Whene

  • Appealing To His Gaze    Chapter 187

Devin POV I should never have been initiated in anything that was going to cause me much thoughts but bumping into him again was one of the most unexpected things that happened in my life and I was wondering how I went from just being quiet to align myself to be in tangled in something that was beyond my reasoning. I did not have what it took to be able to stand away for a long time but I knew that if I tried to conclude I was going to be met with a lot of rejections so there was no need for me to even attempt that or else I was going to be damned. "What a pleasant surprise after so many years!" He responded good-naturedly.This was not exactly the kind of reception I was hoping to get from him because it seemed as though he was still angry with me over something that had happened for a few months now and understandably so. I didn't also think that he was going to want to do anything that was going to concern me. In fact I was just very careful so that I did not get on his nerves

TIMONE'S POVSomething was off. Off enough that even in my half-hungover, post-championship haze, I felt the chill crawl up my spine when Devin stuttered. We were walking home after the company's announcement, i lived alone, and somehow Devin had spoken to me about Stella's travel on a girls trip,

DEVIN'S POVI stood across the street, tucked into the shadows, hands shoved deep into my coat pockets and trembling-not from cold, no, not even a little-but from the fire raging inside me. Rage, jealousy, betrayal, frustration-all coursing down my spine and pooling in my chest until I felt hollow,

AIDEN'S POV.I parked in front of Marcus's building, holding onto the steering wheel so hard my knuckles were white. My chest felt like a tight twisting cage. Every beat pounded against my ribs as if it wanted to break free and drag my lungs along with it. The night air was thick and heavy, full of

DEVIN'S POV.I woke up with that weight in my chest, making it hard to breathe for a moment-the kind of heaviness that sank into my shoulders before I even sat up. The alarm felt louder than usual, the vibration of it rattling against the nightstand in a way that shot straight into my nerves. Stel
