Zack’s POV

Sunday evening was dragging by, and I needed to get something off my chest. The events of the past week were gnawing at me. I picked up my phone and called Aaron.

“Aaron?” I asked as soon as he picked up.

“Yeah, it’s me,” he replied. “What’s up?”

I paused for a moment, suddenly forgetting what I wanted to tell him. “Why haven’t you left the country yet?”

There was a slight pause before Aaron replied, "Oh, they canceled the trip. I’ve been sick."

“Sick? Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked, feeling a twinge of guilt. How could I not know my best friend was unwell?

“I knew you were busy with your grandfather’s party and everything. I wanted to call, but you beat me to it,” Aaron explained.

I sighed, “I’m coming over now. You should’ve told me earlier.”

“Alright, let’s meet up,” Aaron agreed.

Half an hour later, I was at Aaron’s place. He looked pale, definitely not his usual self.

“Have you taken drugs?” I asked my best friend.

“Yeah but I need to get another one”, he answered

“I’m taking you to the pharmacy to get the drugs,” I told him firmly.

Aaron chuckled weakly. “Fine, let’s go. Maybe I can find someone new, you know. You know I can’t resist.”

I rolled my eyes. Even when sick, Aaron couldn't stop being a playboy. “Let’s just get you better first.”

At the pharmacy, we picked up some medication. Aaron was scanning the place, but there were no ladies in sight. He looked disappointed.

“Alright, no luck here. Let’s go to the grocery store,” Aaron suggested, not ready to give up on his hunt for a potential fling.

“You never change, do you?” I said, shaking my head.

I was walking down the cereal aisle with Aaron when I heard a familiar voice, one that made my stomach tighten with a mix of annoyance and dread.

“Aaron,” I said, lowering my voice. “Is that Nora?”

Aaron’s eyes scanned the area before he nodded. “Yeah, that’s definitely her.”

We followed the sound, and as we turned the corner, we saw Nora and her best friend, Brittany, confronting Sara. Nora’s voice was loud and cutting, filled with the venom she usually reserved for her worst enemies.

“Stay away from Zack!” Nora was yelling. “You’re nothing but trouble.”

Sara stood there, eyes wide with fear and confusion. I could see her trembling slightly. She closed her eyes, bracing herself as Nora raised her hand to slap her.

I sprang into action, grabbing Nora’s wrist mid-air. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

Nora’s eyes widened in shock. “Zack, I—”

I cut her off. “Save it. You have no right to this to her.”

Aaron stepped up beside me, glaring at Nora and Brittany. “Haven’t you two caused enough trouble already?”

Brittany, always the accomplice, tried to speak up. “We were just—”

“Just lying for Nora when she was cheating on me. I remember,” I said, my voice icy. “Both of you need to get out of my sight.”

Nora pulled her wrist free and glared at me. “You’ll regret this, Zack.”

“No, Nora. The only regret I have is ever letting you into my life,” I retorted. “Now, leave. And take your pathetic friend with you.”

Brittany looked like she wanted to say something, but a sharp look from Aaron silenced her. They turned and walked away, their heads held high in a facade of dignity that no one believed.

If there’s anyone allowed to make Sara suffer, I should be the one because I lost an important deal because of her. Nora has no right to bully her. If I’m being truthful with myself, I dragged her into this mess. I’m very sure Nora must have heard when I introduced Sara as my girlfriend.

“Thank …”, Sara tried to say.

I did not wait for her to finish what she was trying to say before I walked out.

I don’t want her to think we are now best of friends just because I saved her from Nora.

I was already outside when I turned back to tell Aaron the reason I called him in the morning because I just remembered. Only for me to see that he did not even follow me. He must have stayed back to introduce himself to Sara or just to look for a fling.

My private investigator had called a few minutes before I reached out to Aaron, giving me the full details on Sara Miles. I learned everything about her situation and how her uncle demanded she get married before handing over her properties.

I decided I would propose a contract marriage, which she must agree to. It would benefit both of us: I could fulfill my grandfather’s wish of seeing me married and make her pay for what she did to me. She would gain access to her properties. It’s a win for both of us, especially me.

I pulled out my phone and dialed my lawyer’s number.

He picked up on the first ring. "Hello, Mr. Samuels. How can I assist you?"

“Hi, Mr. Bryan. I need you to prepare the necessary documents for a contract marriage between me and Sara Miles.”

“A contract marriage, sir?”

“Yes. I want the documents delivered to my office tomorrow afternoon,” I added.

“Alright, consider it done.”

“I’ll email you the full details shortly. That will be all.”

“Understood, Mr. Samuels.”

With that, I hung up. I need to make Sara sign this as soon as possible, I thought to myself.

I decided to give Aaron a call next.

“Where are you, man?” I asked when he picked up.

“Right behind you,” he replied with a laugh.

I looked around and saw him wave at me. I hung up and waited for him in the car.

As soon as he got in, I shared all the information with him. "Aaron, I need your opinion on something."

He raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. “What’s up?”

I took a deep breath and started explaining. “I found out Sara’s uncle won’t hand over her properties unless she gets married. I’m thinking of proposing a contract marriage. It solves her problem and mine.”

Aaron whistled, a low, impressed sound. “A contract marriage? That’s quite the plan, Zack.”

“I get to fulfill my grandfather’s wish and keep Sara close to make her pay for what she did,” I said, feeling the conviction in my words.

Aaron nodded slowly. “I see your point. But are you sure about this? Marriage, even a contract one, is a big step.”

“I’ve thought it through. It’s mutually beneficial. I just need to make her agree.”

Aaron sighed. “Alright. If you’re sure, then go for it. But be careful, Zack. These things can get complicated.”

I nodded, appreciating his concern. “Thanks, man. I’ll handle it.”

We settled into a comfortable silence as we drove. Aaron cleared his throat, breaking the quiet. “So, you’re going to pitch this idea to Sara soon?”

“Yes, as soon as the documents are ready,” I replied.

"Well, good luck with that. Just make sure you don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment,” he advised.

“I won’t,” I assured him.

As we pulled up to Aaron’s place, I felt a mix of anticipation and determination. This was going to work.

“Alright, I’ll see you later, Zack. Take care,” Aaron said as he got out of the car.

“You too, Aaron. And get some rest,” I added, watching him head inside.

I pulled out my phone and sent the email with the full details to Mr. Bryan. With everything in motion, I felt a sense of control returning. This was just the beginning.

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty five

Sara’s POV When the day finally came to leave, I felt a mix of reluctance and relief. Reluctance because, in this small bubble with Mary, things felt almost normal again. Relief because part of me was ready to face reality, to see if we could truly move past what had happened. The flight back to New York was quiet. Zack tried to hold my hand a few times, but I gently pulled away, needing space. I could see the frustration in his eyes, but he didn’t push it. Maybe he realized that too much had happened for things to simply go back to the way they were. We landed in New York early in the morning, and the city greeted us with its usual chaos. As the car drove us home, I stared out the window, lost in thought. Zack reached over and squeezed my hand gently. “We’ll be okay, Sara,” he said, almost like he was trying to convince himself as much as me. I nodded, giving him a small smile that didn’t quite reach my eyes. “I hope so,” I whispered. The next day, we decided to resume w

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty four

Sara’s POV Mary's voice pulled me back to reality. "Sara," she said, a smile playing on her lips as she glanced at her phone, "Aaron just texted me. We're going on a date tonight." I looked at her, momentarily distracted from my thoughts. "Aaron, huh? You two seem to be getting along really well," I teased, trying to push aside my worries. Mary blushed, something rare for her. "Yeah, he's... different. I think I really like him, Sara." "I'm happy for you," I said, genuinely meaning it. "Come on, let's get you ready for your date." As we sorted through her wardrobe, I found myself slipping into a daze. The last few days had been a whirlwind of emotions—Zack showing up, our argument, and everything that followed. I helped Mary pick out a dress, did her makeup, and styled her hair, but my mind was elsewhere, replaying every moment with Zack over and over. Mary noticed my distraction and put a hand on my arm. "Sara, you should talk to him," she said gently. "You can't keep a

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty three

Sara’s POV I spent the next hour in a haze, replaying everything that had happened between Zack and me. Each memory felt like a sharp, painful reminder of the betrayal I couldn’t seem to shake off. It wasn’t just about Cassandra; it was about the lies, the secrecy, and the fact that Zack didn’t trust me enough to be honest from the start. My phone buzzed again, pulling me out of my thoughts. I glanced at the screen—another message from Aaron. *“Sara, I know it’s hard, but Zack really wants to talk to you. He’s outside, waiting for you to be ready.”* I stared at the message, my heart pounding in my chest. Part of me wanted to ignore it, to stay curled up on this couch and let the world outside sort itself out. But another part of me, the part that still loved Zack despite everything, wanted to see him, to demand answers, and to understand why he kept hurting me like this. With a deep breath, I got up and grabbed my coat. Mary looked up from her magazine, her eyes questioni

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty two

Sara’s POV The next morning, I woke up in Mary’s guest bedroom, feeling a mixture of relief and sadness. The familiar scent of her home, with its warm, comforting atmosphere, did little to ease the turmoil in my heart. I glanced at the soft pink walls and the framed photos of us over the years, memories that once brought a smile to my face now only served as a painful reminder of the life I’d temporarily left behind. I sighed deeply, pulling myself out of bed. I had cried myself to sleep last night, and the weight of it still clung to me. The more I thought about Zack and Cassandra, the tighter the knot in my chest grew. I couldn’t stay here forever, but I wasn’t ready to face him either. As I padded down the hallway to the kitchen, I heard the soft clinking of dishes. Mary was already up, making breakfast, and the aroma of coffee filled the air. She looked up as I entered, concern written all over her face. “Hey, you’re up,” she said gently, setting down a mug of coffee i

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty one

Sara’s POV The night was restless. I tossed and turned, sleep eluding me as the events of the day replayed in my mind like a broken record. The memory of Zack's words, his pleas, his attempts to fix what was shattered, haunted me. But it was Cassandra’s voice that echoed the loudest, taunting me with the knowledge that I wasn’t the first, that Zack had lied to me, hidden things from me. I felt betrayed, a fool for trusting so easily. Finally, just before dawn, I gave up on sleep altogether. I got out of bed and stared out the window at the city below, the lights beginning to flicker out as the sun started its slow climb over the horizon. The morning light did nothing to chase away the darkness that had settled in my heart. I grabbed my phone and checked the time. It was still early, but I needed to get moving. The sooner I was out of here, the better. I freshened up, threw on some clothes, and made my way to the lobby. The hotel was quiet, only a few guests milling about. I ch

  • Arrogant CEO   Chapter fifty

Sara’s POV I rushed outside, my chest heaving with every breath, the tears that had been threatening to spill finally breaking free. The night air was cool, but it did nothing to soothe the fire of pain and betrayal burning inside me. I pressed a hand to my mouth, stifling the sobs that threatened to escape, but it was no use. The dam had broken, and there was no holding back. I sank onto the steps, burying my face in my hands as the tears flowed freely. Everything felt like it was falling apart. Six months into this marriage, and it seemed like every day brought a new secret, a new lie. How had we gotten here? How had everything gone so wrong? For a moment, I considered ending it all—just walking away from this mess, from Zack, from everything. It seemed like the only way to stop the pain. But even as I thought it, my heart ached at the idea of leaving him. Despite everything, I still loved him. But how could I stay when it felt like I didn't even know the man I married? I
