I stared as the moonlight shone brightly across the beautiful forest. Sweet moist smell filled my nose, my eyes seems to glow under the intense cold.

"Your highness, a man from the new folks in the south wants to see you," he said.

I hissed, trying to contain myself from getting angry. "You should know better than anyone not to disturb me while I enjoy the beautiful gaze of the forest." My voice was quite stern.

"My apology, your highness." He bowed curtly. "But you need to see him. He seems to have important information about the rogues from the south-east. I think he will be a great asset—"

"It is a pleasure meeting him then."

My voice was low. My hands sat across the huge helm of my gown. My eyes pinned on him with a straight face. I walked past the beta, making my way down the palace.

My hair strands flew across my face. A sweet smell filled the air. One I could not mention. And as soon as I stepped down from the stairs, my eyes met his.

Immediately, I could feel something rise inside me. Something felt unbound. A stirring in my stomach—mesmerized at how he looked. Handsome, blue eyes, fair skin, just appropriate for my height.

"What kingdom are you from?" I asked, straightening my face.

"I'm from the mountain, young majesty. I've brought some—"

"At least, introduce yourself." My voice was low.

"I'm Dastan, young majesty." He bowed, curtly.

I clapped my hands twice, my eyebrows lifted. "Prepare a room for the young Dastan." My voice was barely audible, but they could hear me. "I would prefer if you avoided the young. I am a queen. Not a young lady."

"Yes, young majesty," he said.

Interesting. I tilted my head to the side. Inhaling deeply, the same sweet moist scent hit my nose. The same one I had loved. Almost intoxicating, it was him all along—mate.

"Are you human?" I asked, my voice was low.

"Her highness seems not to like the humans as much," he asked.

I did not answer, I just strode past him. Precise with every step I took. I could feel a change. Something stir inside me. It was not ordinary. Something I thought I had lost for years.

Being a queen in a kingdom where everything was just not like you is more like a curse. And, I might be a queen speaking eloquently, and elegantly, I was not complete. The life I lived was all a sham to cover up the truth my father had kept all along...

My ears perked up, listening to his footsteps. I made my way down through the hallway. Heading straight to my room.

He still did not stop. And up ahead was the darkest part of the palace. I wondered why he was not going back.

"Your Majesty, I must speak with you. It is of great importance," he said.

And I need you to take me to bed before we speak—I would have said that, but there was no way I would say that, actually. It is against the principles of a queen in this kingdom.

I paused right in front of my room, pushing the oak door open. Before he could even step in, I pulled the string right beside my gown, loosening the iron beneath.

Almost immediately, it fell. The structured gown became smaller. No extra size around the waist. Just straight old fabric.

I quickly undid the laces, letting the cloth slide off my body itself while I stepped out of it.

"Get this out," I breathed the words.

And from the corners of the room, maids rushed out carrying my clothes as they quickly took it out of the room.

"Let us speak more plainly, Dastan," I said as he stepped into the room.

Sitting right across the bed, I waited for him to step in.

"Young majesty, we could speak without making what rests between my legs uncomfortable," he blurted.

The moon cast its light on his silver fabric. Making him look more stunning. And that was when I realized something I had not noticed, his hair was glowing.

"That which rests between your legs need not trouble our conversation. It shall serve its purpose sooner than you imagine."

He stepped closer, his hair strands dancing across his face. His steps slow.

I bit my lips, rolling my eyes inwardly. Each movement made me shudder. His scent made me feel lust. I could feel a pooling heat, a slickness growing between my thighs with every step he took closer.

I had a simple silk net on, it was made for the royals. And was the only kind in this 14th century.

"What do you want in return for the information you have?" I asked, my voice was low.

"Her young majesty is really wise," he said. "But, can you do what I want in return?" He asked.

"Place your bid."

"Be my mate for the rest of your life."

For one moment, I forgot how to breathe. My brain went dry. I could not think of anything. He actually knew I was his mate. And he wanted to take advantage of it. That was real strategy.

"I love your knowledge." I bit my lips, staring into his eyes. "On one condition—two, actually," I said.

"Tell me."

"You will spend the night with me from now on. And you would swear a blood oath to never betray me," I said.

"Her majesty seems wise enough," he said. "I accept both conditions."

A smile curled up my lips. If this Dastan was truly my mate, then I should be able to get my wolf back and to heal her completely; on the day of my 15th birthday, I had transformed. But, my wolf turned out to be a cripple. And after that, I could not hear her voice, nor transform again. My father had to fool everyone with a hired impostor—another made to behave like me. And, to wear a spell that would make her look like me. So she could transform into the stunning wolf...

"Agreed," I said. "You're one of a kind as well."

My thigh parted slowly. I could feel the dew gathered between my entrance. A shiver crawled down my delicate skin. My lips parted.

I tilted my head backward, making my neckline visible. My yellow blonde dancing on my shoulders as a breath rushed through my nose.

"You are so delicate," he mouthed.

He stretched his hands forward, reaching out for my thigh. Lifting my skirt, as his fingers crawled down there.

"And you make me tremble so."

Blake's POV I turned my head sharply the moment I heard the words human trade. My eyes lit up. My wolf surfaced again. Brax couldn't believe this was the same person whose father dealt in secrets."You aren't kidding, are you?" I asked, my voice low.She didn't reply. She only turned her head towards the projected screen and then back to me. Lowering my gaze, I sensed the shift in her temperament. Her shoulders tensed. She had once been relaxed, but now she sat straight. Her fingers clenched the arm of the couch tightly."Hey, talk to me." Brax's voice was cold. My red eyes glowed with intensity as the seconds burned out.A wolf like me wouldn't care what she was talking about. Brax knew she had figured out what was really happening as the auctioneer continued. My head tilted to the side as I watched every movement in her body."Tell me I'm just daydreaming—that this isn't a human trade," she said, turning her head towards me once again."You're being more dramatic than I thought you

Blake's POVThe whole drama from the room had ended; we were following each other down the hallway. Both dressed in almost the same thing—just different shirts. With every sharp corner we approached in the palace, a maid or two would turn his or her head to look at us.I scoffed, eyes rolled. My fingers curled and uncurled. It wasn't time to get angry. I followed Blake very closely as we both made our way towards the same room I had left the night before—the palace sitting room."Kai, I don't really understand what he has been saying. I think you should both sort your problems out before I do something." Selene's voice came through the door. Soft. Calm. Laced with warnings underneath.Beside me, Blake pushed the door open. He turned his gaze over. The blue eyes were back again. I didn't understand how that was happening, but I knew I could get my answers. My chest heaved. The warm smell of blood stench hit my nose, forcing me to shake my head. Together, we both stepped into the sittin

Imogen's POV My hands flew into the air. I watched as Blake left me standing outside the villa without even turning to look back at me. What did he even mean? Was this all my fault? Did I cause it? I dragged myself towards the door. My mind raced with thoughts.Despite blaming him for coming to get me late, I knew deep down that I was at fault. I had left without knowing the way. And I had ended up in the forest with ten naked guys."Damn." I breathed. "I'm not going back into that forest ever again.""You know what?" Blake paused in his movements. "You can. It makes life so much easier. I won't have to lose sleep looking for you all night."For some reason, I was left wondering if he was truly an autist. Maybe he was. Maybe not. All I knew was that an autistic bastard wouldn't be saying stuff like that.My hands flew into the air. "Whatever. Where's the bathroom?" I asked. "Get me some clothes, by the way."Trailing behind him, I rolled my eyes. My steps were fast as I made my way u

Blake's POVI stared at the window, my eyes not leaving the distant forest. My mind raced with something cold—a feeling. A thought of something that threatened to swallow me whole. What could be happening to her? I had been standing there ever since the night before, unable to sleep after my wolf's sudden disappearance.Turning on my phone, I stared at the time. It was 3:30 a.m., and she wasn't back. My wolf had said she would be back. Maybe she would use some shortcuts, and boom—she would appear like a thief of the night again."She hasn't come back," I said to my wolf through the mind link.A second passed. A minute. Two minutes. Yet my wolf gave no reply, leaving me actively peering at the blank distance, filled with dark crimson glows that made me fear going out myself."Brax?" I called my wolf's name again. Hopefully, there would be an answer this time."She isn't back, Brax." My voice was cold.Having a wolf to communicate with, that too in your head, was crazy. And it was a str

Imogen's POVI stood, hands crossed above my chest. I didn't bother turning; I just listened. My ears caught the subtle sound of footsteps as the men made their way out of their hiding spots. I tilted my head to the side, watching the guy in front of me. My mind raced as I wondered what could make him know so much about me."Before we start the party, introduce yourself," I said, my voice sharp. The guys smiled as they all stepped closer towards me. Each and every step they took was synced. If I weren't fighting for my life, I would have admired their movements more."Like I said, it is not time to know yet," the guy said, his voice stern, masking the cold glow of the moonlight.I rolled up the sleeve of my black jacket. A small, triumphant smile spread across my face. Gritting my teeth, I took another step forward. A low chuckle escaped me—devilish, confident."I would appreciate the fact that you know who I really am. That too, you recognise all my combat steps," I said, after a cle

Imogen's POVIn the periphery of the jungle, I jumped to my feet, my whole body trembling from the shock. Blood oozed from my palm, which I had used to hit the trunk a few minutes ago.I couldn't help but wince in pain. My mind went blank as I turned around in the dark forest. There was no one around me at all. The night had grown quiet; the beast that had made me run had stopped chasing me. And now, I had wandered deeper into the forest.I bit my lip, retrieving my phone from my pocket. My eyes flashed with pain as I dialed Moira's number. No matter how hard I tried, there was no reception."What now?" I murmured, shaking the phone continuously as I hoped for a miracle to happen.I paused, staring at the blank distance. The whole place was foggy. The moon was covered; I couldn't see what was up ahead. With all hope lost, I dropped my phone. My knees gave way. Tears burned in my lids. My whole body trembled in pain. Tilting my head to the side, I reminded myself about the times I had
