Arya's POV
“You did what!” Kelsi shrieked. I wrapped a hand over her mouth. “You are too loud.” Kelsi was the only werewolf friend I found in the human world. We shared everything together and I couldn't be more grateful that I had her in my life.
“Arya you don't know this man for crying out loud” she warned.
“But I had no choice” I wrung my hands out. She went silent because that was true. I had just told her what happened back at my son's school yesterday.
“Who knows who I was,” I said. Kelsi immediately looked up.
"what does that mean?” she asked. I took in a deep breath as I recalled what happened yesterday.
“When the man in a suit, in front of the man in a mask, asked me to do what his boss said, I wanted to be free from all my problems. I tried rejecting him but he stared me in the eyes and hit me with the truth”
“What truth? Tell me!” Kelsi said impatiently.
I took in a deep breath. “He said he knew I was a werewolf and my name was Arya Lincoln and not Lockwood” Kelsi gasped. “He knew me to the last,” I said in a soft whisper, while I stared out in space.
“So what, now he has done all these for you? “Kelsi asked. The man in a suit had settled my dispute with the mayor, made sure my boss was arrested, and kept my son from being expelled. He also sent me a whopping sum of 10 million dollars. He had wiped all my problems in one day.
I shrugged. “I guess I have to do my own part of the deal”
“Which is?” Kelsi asked.
My heart raced as I opened my mouth. Looking my friend in the eyes, I uttered the two words I had dreaded all of my five years in the human side. “Going home,”
Kelsi's eyes went wide.
“He said he wanted I and Chamberlain to accompany him to the full moon party back at home”
“Oh. My. God.” Kelsi slowly exclaimed. We went quiet as we tried to process all of this. The full moon was the party of the century for the werewolf. It was rare to have a full moon on our side and whenever this was to occur, a grand party was to be hosted.
After we had been quiet, Kelsi was the one to break the silence between us.
“Do you know the boss? The alpha?” she asked. I shook my head.
“He never showed his face, he always covered it with some sort of mask” I could clearly see the horror on her face.
“Arya…. This is not good...” she paused. “Okay, he might be a forgotten alpha who wants to make an entrance” I nodded.
“Or he could be ugly and wants a beautiful girl to show off,” she said.
I stared deadpanned at my friend. “Kelsi I'm not beautiful” She tried to speak but I beat her to it. “Please don't argue.” She made a motion as to zipping her mouth.
“Alright, what matters is that I do my own end of the deal. Go to the damn full moon party and come back”
Kelsi slowly nodded then she pulled me in for a hug. “What was that for?” I raised an eyebrow.
She shrugged. “Oh nothing, I just hope he is not some wicked alpha werewolf or something, like a werewolf hunter” as soon as these words left Kelsi's mouth, my face went pale. The only werewolf that scared the shit out of me was the werewolf beast. He had the ability to shape shift into different faces and it was rumored he had killed his parents to become the alpha.
******************************************************************************
2 weeks later, I was in a black SUV, heading to the full moon party, with my son. It was to be held in the alpha king's palace. Over the couple of weeks prior to us coming back to the werewolf village. The rich boss, sent me money and gifts for my son. Then he sent the plane tickets. I said goodbye to my friend Kelsi. She had grown quiet since I told her that story. It didn't help that, days before I traveled, I began having nightmares, where I would be running but someone was chasing me. He kept saying the word MINE.
We arrived at the party, an hour later. Taking Chamberlain, I followed the guards to a room. They told me to freshen up and what not.
I knotted Chamberlain's tie and made sure we were looking smart. Then there was a knock on the door.
“Come in” I yelled. A guard came in.
“Ma'am, you will proceed to the party, the boss is in his way,” he said. I nodded and took my son with me.
I was on my second champagne and was already bored, I couldn't wait for it all to end. Suddenly I felt a tug on my dress. I looked down to find my son.
“Mama, I want some ice cream,” I stared across the room. There was a table of refreshments. I didn't want him to have one. He could soil his clothes, but when I looked down and saw the cute pout my son was giving me, my heart melted.
“All right just one scoop” I said.
“Yes!” Chamberlain and I walked over to the table. I asked a maid to get him a small scoop. My son licked a spoon and grinned from ear to ear. “Yum” he muttered. I chuckled. Looking up, I could see the obvious look of contempt in a woman's face.
“Who brings a child to the full moon party” she sneered. Embarrassment kicked in, and I lowered my head. I wanted to take my child back to that room but the moment I looked around, I couldn't find Chamberlain. He had run off.
“Chamberlain” I called out to him. As I walked towards him, my son turned to a corner and tripped. The ice cream flew out of his hands and splattered on the floor and his clothes.
“Sorry mum,” he smiled. I smiled back. “It's alright,” I began cleaning him up and just as we were about heading to the bathroom, I was stopped when I saw some high heels in front of me.
I slowly looked up and my heart almost flew out of my ribcage. “Hello sister” Anastasia smirked. My heart thumped and I swallowed hard.
“What do you want?” I said with gritted teeth. All the confidence I gathered evaporated when I realized she was not alone. She had Olivia, and two minions behind her. My eyes widened when I realized Fifi was with them. It hurt. It really did. Five years later, I was still hit with betrayal.
“Who is this?” Olivia said with a disgusted snarl.
Chamberlain hid behind me. “Mum” he muttered.
“Mum? You are a mother?” the other girl said.
“I bet she has no mate” Fifi said. I stared at her and my eyes watered.
“Fifi even you,”
“Oh please” Olivia rolled her eyes.
“So whose bastard is this?” Anastasia smirked, with her hands on her face. I opened my mouth to speak but no words made it out.
“I told you she has no mate” they burst into laughter.
“Leave us alone!” I said with gritted teeth.
“I won't until you tell me who owns this bastard” Anastasia turned around. “Guards seize her!” the guards were heading toward us, I didn't know what to do.
“Whose bastard is this?” Anastasia asked again but I ignored her.
My heart pounded wildly in my chest, anger roaring through my veins as I felt a shift starting, my vision blurring as my wolf clawed to the surface, begging to be released. My muscles tensed, and my breathing came in short, sharp gasps. The familiar, burning sensation spread through my body, signaling the imminent change.
“Oh, what’s this?” one of the girls taunted. “The broken girl still has a bite left?”
My eyes flashed golden as a deep growl rumbled in my throat. My son whimpered softly, sensing the shift in me, and buried his face in my shoulder. The sound of his fear was like a knife to my heart. I was losing control. The line between me and the wolf blurred, and I felt my teeth elongate, claws pricking through my fingertips.
Just as I was about to give in, a deep, commanding voice sliced through the tension, thundering from behind.
“HE IS MINE!”
Everyone turned around. I realized it was the boss in a suit. He had his mask on.
Anastasia glared at him. “Who the hell are you?”
The man in the mask walked closer to us, he stared at Anastasia and smirked then began to murmur. It seemed like nobody knew who he was too. The man loosened the mask slowly. It was like time stopped as he did that.
Finally the mask was off. I watched Anastasia's face go white. Gasps could be heard around the room. I turned my eyes to the man who had just saved me. I gasped too, clasping a hand over my mouth.
WAS. THE. WEREWOLF BEAST.
I looked from him to my son and my blood ran cold.
There was an uncanny resemblance between him and Chamberlain.
Arya's POVI cried. I screamed. I begged. I sang. I slept. This was my routine. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. There was no food or water. I was getting weaker and weaker, but I held on. Today I'm quiet. So quiet, like I can hear everything. The squishy clacks of the rat feet running across the wall. The dripping of water from a leaking pipe. They dull hum of something. I don't know if it's a lawn mower or a hair dryer. The thumping of my heart in my ears.I swallowed.I blinked and looked around. Right in my eyes, my brain began to play out everything that had happened. From the moment Jake was coming back till now. He seemed sincere. I mean…. Then I began to see the loopholes. I began to question a lot of things. Why didn't I ever ask about my sister? Why did they fall out, and why was he now coming for me? I didn't even ask why he wanted me back in the pack.I carefully thought about everything. Even the rape attack in the bathroom. All these might have been planned by him to get me to the p
Arya’s POVI got into the car and gently closed the door behind me, the night air still cool against my skin.My arms curled tightly around Chamberlin’s small, sleeping body. He didn’t even stir. I touched his body. Relief poured through me. He wasn’t cold.“You could have opened the back door and put him there” Jake said.I shook my head. “Don’t worry he’s not heavy”Jake shrugged and then turned the key in the ignition, and the soft hum of the engine broke the silence the night held.We didn’t say anything at first as he drove. I just stared out of the window, watching the palace fade into the distance behind us. A knot pulled tight in my chest. My home. My memories. Kelsi came to mind and my heart. I wonder if she would ever forgive me. But it’s alright. This had to be done anyway. I couldn’t stay with Chase and pretended I was safe with him.I let out a deep breath and hugged my son tighter.Jake cleared his throat. “Are you okay?”I turned to him, blinking back a tear that had th
Arya’s POVMy eyes opened. It was dark, but I could see. Without hesitation, I needed no one to tell me I was not in my room, nor was I in Chamberlin’s. It was that muscle-woody smell that told me everything. Turning quietly, I was met with the most handsome man I had ever seen.Chase King.Events from last night trickled in, and a slow smile began to spread on my lips, but suddenly it stopped. Until now, I never knew two truths could exist.1. I loved Chase. With all my heart. He’s been on my heart, except that my jealousy had led me to do things I regret now.2. I cannot stay with him. I do not trust him, yes. I can’t be his Luna even though I am his mate. It’s not like I didn’t deserve him, but I don’t think I fit in here. All I have done so far is cause trouble for Chase and his pack. I see the way they look at me. Even though I don’t want to care, half of the time, I find myself doing so.I should leave. Better I go back home. To where I belong. To my people. I can love him from
Arya's POV " Wine?" I glanced down at the glass and back at Chase. What was he planning? Was he going to make me drunk. I took in a deep breath and looked into his eyes."You are staring" he muttered as he stepped closer. This time I didn't run. For whatsoever reason, I stood my ground "I know" I replied. His eyes roamed around my face and rested on my lips and back to my eyes..what was Chase up to? I had come to home with the aim of fighting with him. Arguing with him. But he was the opposite. He proposed peace. He surprised me, despite the history we had. I could swear he was never going to speak to me again, but he surprised me.To some extent, I began to feel guilty. The last two fight we had came fresh in my head. "Wine?" He said in a breathless voice.I sighed for the one millionth time. It would be unfair to still give him the cold shoulders and those one word replies."Okay"Chase stood up and went to the winery at the side of the kitchen. He filled my glass with wine an
Chase's POVI followed her to kitchen and pretended to get something from the fridge.I noticed she didn't want to look at me. That was weird. I moved closer to her and she in turn moved back. Hmm that was strange. Where did this come from? I needed to know why." I have never seen you this angry at me. What is wrong?" I asked.“Why are you avoiding me?” I said taking a step closer. She didn't say a word, though it looked like she wanted to. The silence stretched and I waited for her to speak but she didn't. Then she turned around, backing me. Finally I had enough. My voice cut through the silence like a blade.Arya didn’t flinch. She didn’t turn either. She kept her back to me, hands on the countertop, pretending to be busy with nothing.I took a step closer.“I asked you a question.”“I heard you,” she replied, tone flat, without sparing me a glance.“And?”“I answered.”“You didn’t.”Another step. Now I was behind her, close enough to feel the tension radiating from her shoulders.
Amanda's POV I moved on with my life. At least I tried. I saw me plunging, my head into work, and everything that came along with it, it felt like it was trying to drive me crazy. I sighed deeply as I got into the elevator to go home that day. Looking myself in the mirror like walls, I could see the boredom and tiredness staring right back at me. Suddenly the only person in the elevator just left and it’s just me. When I was beginning to inch over my thoughts like a measuring tape, I remembered something.“oh I have to call Chanel, today is her birthday” as I fished out my phone from my bag, my phone rang. It was the birthday girl. “Hi Ama!— Chanel’s voice boomed from the other side of the phone— so how is my baby girl doing today? How wanted to know how my best friend is doing today? Chanel asked.I Chuckled. “ Hmm I’m just there, just in the elevator. Heading home, starving and can’t wait to get home”I went on to tell her all that transpired that day at work. Chanel as usual
