“Jul?”

Julianne blinked and pulled her brows in confusion. That voice…it felt strangely familiar. There was only one person that has ever called her like that, but she doubted she would find them in a place like this. She must have heard wrong, she thought, but just right then, she heard it again, this time more clearly and closely.

“Jul.”

Cassian’s eyes travelled past her and Julianne turned around in one heartbeat. A slight sigh escaped her lips when she saw who it was and her eyes widened.

Every time Julianne was drawn to unconsciousness, she would open her eyes again to see if Cassian was still there. He was sitting at the foot of the bed and earlier, she worried about him sleeping on the cold floor, but he had told her not to worry about him. Fearing that she would wake up and not see him in the room, she tried to hold out until she would no longer have to worry about him disappearing from the room.“Cassian?” she called gently, almost in a tired voice.Cassian turned his head to see her awake and he asked, “Why are you not asleep?”Julianne sighed and stretched out her arm. She thought back on the events that happened earlier and she blinked slowly, almost sadly. “I don’t understand it.”“What?” Cassian asked, his eyes moving to her hand that was out.“I don’t understand why she had to die. She doesn’t have any grudge with anyone, so I wonder who did that to her.” Her voice went lower as she said, “Even my father doesn’t believe me anymore. He only came back because

Julianne went in and closed the door before walking to the bathtub. She dipped her hand in and felt the warm water. It would really get cold if she didn’t use it immediately, and the weather was a bit cold. After two minutes in the bath, she kept thinking about what could have made him change towards her. It was as if he were keeping something from her. She tried to understand the circumstances surrounding it, then she remembered what the lady at the bar had said to her. Was he being too cautious in front of her? Did he not like that she had seen him in such a state? She wondered. Still, she didn’t want him to feel that way because of her. She wanted to know how he really felt and what was going on with him.She let her thoughts quieten and listened attentively for any slight movement, but there was only silence. Afraid she was all alone, she called, “Cassian?”Her heart thumped when he didn’t answer immediately, and she gripped the side of the bath, about to stand, when she heard a

Cassian took out his cigarette pack and lighted one. He took in a long drag and released into the air. With the recent happenings, he could only think of one person behind everything. Nothing seems to make sense in the first place without that person in picture. It makes him wonder if everything was all connected from the start. As he was busy taking a smoke, the door opened from behind and Julianne stepped out slowly, her feet almost dragging along as she moved to where Cassian stood, back facing her.Cassian took one last drag and made to put out the cigarette when he felt a hand on his back. His brows went up and he felt a light squeeze at his jacket. He paused and heard her say;“I don’t care about your past. I don’t care if I get hurt whenever I’m with you. I know that you are better than the rest. Every other person left me, but you have stayed far enough with me in my crisis. You know I’m a danger to you too, but you stayed. So don’t push me away.”Cassian rode the bike in the

He watched as Julianne moved her feet towards the man and then embraced him with tears pouring down her eyes.Julianne couldn’t hold her emotions. She let it out and held her father in a tight embrace, fearing that one slip would make him go away again.“Why did you leave just like that? Why wouldn’t you contact me for once? Did you know how hard it was f

In the dorm, Velvet was the first to notice that Julianne was missing. She couldn’t sit still and knew she needed to act immediately. She sneaked out and went to knock on Marianne’s room quietly. When Marianne heard the knock, she was scared at first, wondering who it may be, but then she heard a whisper that came from under the door and recognized the voice immediately. When she opened the door, Velvet rushed inside and shut the door immediately before dimming the light in her room.“What are you doing?” Marianne asked her.Velvet sighed and paced the room for a bit before she finally turned to her and said, “Julianne is not in her room right now.”“What?” Marianne’s eyes widened immediately and she made to go have a look for herself, only to be stopped by Velvet.“There’s no use. She must probably be off to look for Cassian. Aish! That girl really…”“Then why are you here? Shouldn’t you do something? Like try and look for her?” Marianne said.Velvet was first confused. ‘What do you

"I don't know."After much thinking, that was the only response she could come up with."What?" the lady asked. "You came all the way here because you thought he was in danger and you said you don't know who you are to him? Not even a friend?" She scoffed and pulled out a cigarette from a pack before offering her one."I don't smoke," Julianne let her know. The lady burst into a laugh that was quick to die down. "Are you a saint?" She asked. "I wonder what Cass has been up to lately. You really don't fit into his world, but now that you're here, I can't help but feel I'm a bad influence.""Is this how Cassian has always been?" Julianne asked."Sometimes. Most of the times, he's here because he's bored.""You seem to know more about him than I do." She moved her eyes to the people in the bar and watched them. The lady noticed her tone and she said, "It's not like he's a bad person. He's just different from the rest. He once told me he was going to live like no one wanted him to before
