Chapter 4

“Why?”

Megan was confused. She joined Dream Club around the same time as Sophia. After half a month of getting along, she found out that Sophia was not only good looking, but she had a nice temper as well. These kinds of people would be favored everywhere.

However, the front desk manager was always targeting her. Apart from disallowing her to change shifts, she would also ask Sophia to clean up the drunk guests’ vomit. She never treated Sophia well in this half a month.

Just like that, Sophia was allowing herself to be taken advantage of. She accepted everything without questions.

“I have no money. They provide meals and accommodation here.” Sophia let go of her hand that was rubbing her leg. She forced out a smile on her face after lifting her head. “Plus, I can’t find another job either.”

When words got sour, adding more words was useless. Megan did not understand what Sophia was thinking, so she stopped talking entirely.

Sophia knew everyone despised her for being so boneless. However, she did not care. The biggest shareholder of Dream Club was Charles. He knew about everything she did or said in this place.

She could take all of these. She was just worried that Charles would take action against the Whites. Back then, she had been unfilial for implicating the Whites. Now, she only wanted to cause less trouble for herself.

Not far away, two limited edition sports cars stopped at the plaza of the club. Three men and two women got out of the cars. The valet drove the two cars away before the few people walked toward the hall while chatting happily.

Sophia withdrew her hands and displayed a standardized smile on her face. When the group of people walked near her, she bowed immediately. “Hello, welcome to Dream Club.”

They were just a bunch of people born with silver spoons and were looking for fun. Naturally, they would ignore the ladies who welcomed them. They got into the lift while laughing out loud.

The woman who walked in last suddenly stopped when she passed Sophia. Then, she lowered her head and inspected her with her brows furrowed together. She asked with uncertainty, “Sophia?”

Sophia was stunned. She lifted her head subconsciously. She saw a familiar face, but she could not remember who it was.

That woman saw her stunned expression, and a profound smile appeared on her delicate face. “It is you. How strange. Have you already completed your sentence? You didn’t even tell your old friends that you got out of prison. I would’ve held a welcoming dinner for you.”

When she finished talking, Megan’s mouth fell open in surprise. Sophia already expected this, so her expression remained the same.

However, that person would not give her a break so easily.

She crossed her arms across her chest and looked at her from head to toe. She mocked, “Sophia, how did you become like this? Did you suffer a lot in prison?”

Sophia pressed her lips together and did not say anything. She still kept the smile on her face.

That woman felt like she was punching cotton. Finally, she could not stand it anymore. She frowned. Even her tone started to sound piercing. “When did the hiring requirement for Dream Club become so low? It’s fine that they hire someone who attempted murder as the welcoming lady, but she doesn’t even respond when a guest is talking to her. What kind of attitude is this? Where is your manager?”

“Audrey, what are you doing?”

A low voice interrupted the woman. Sophia turned her head and watched that man approach her. Finally, she remembered.

It was him.

Sophia did not expect to meet William Jones this way.

When she was in prison, the only person who visited her was him.

However, whenever he visited her, he was always filled with hatred. He was Leah’s brother. How could he be calm and collected in front of a woman who almost killed his little sister?

“Will, you’re finally here. Guess who I saw?”

Of course, William had already spotted Sophia. There was an unreadable expression in his eyes. Indeed, Sophia had an astronomical transformation. He frowned. After a while, he walked in front of her and asked softly, “When did you come out?”

“Half a month ago.”

He was surprised by her honesty. When he lowered his head, he saw the fading scars on her face. It was as if something hit his chest. He felt suffocated and could not avert his gaze. “That’s good. Since you’ve regained your freedom, you should live your life to the fullest.”

“Thank you.”

Audrey did not expect William to let Sophia off the hook so easily. Her face fell.
