Chapter 48: Reassurance

Brad turns into his driveway, still managing to hold my hand as he shifts into park. It's become something he does and I didn't realize until now how much I liked it. I'm not sure I've ever felt this protected or safe around anyone. I'm also not sure I know what to make of it. How, after all we've been through, can he still want to be anywhere near me? I have nothing to offer him but complete and utter chaos. By now, he has to know that. And in a matter of seconds, I'm going to meet his parents and even stay at his house because he and I both know that inside, I'm crumbling to pieces. He's the only human being I've ever met in my life that I feel like I've known far longer than I actually have.
