Chapter 14

Kaira POV

I was still in shock at what had happened in Jordan's office...

I was very angry when I left his office because I didn't really know or understand the direction this whole thing is going... Though I seriously warned him to count me out of any game he's trying to play because I'm not interested...

Thinking about the kiss he purposely gave me in his office alone makes me wanna throw up...

So many thoughts were going through my mind as I drove inside the mansion... I spotted Mrs. Marcia seating in the lobby...So I parked a few meters away from the car park because Jaxon's car was also parked there... should I tell Jaxon about this or let it slide for now... so many thoughts were going through my mind as I approach the lobby...

"Hello Kaira, were you able to get the measurement from Jordan? Mrs. Marcia asked...

" No ma'am, when I got to his office he was very busy with a client and I couldn't wait because I have so much work to do today... Dont worry I will send Natalie to get the measurement later..."

"Because we dont have much time dear... Thanksgiving is in two weeks..."

"It will be ready before that time..." I tried to force a smile...

"Okay, if you say so..." She smiled back at me...

I left her in the lobby and made my way to the studio... As I got to the studio, Natalie was busy with a phone call... though I don't really know who was at the other side of the line but it seems like the person is really making her laugh a lot that she didn't notice my present... I called her name twice but she didn't answer until I went to her and tapped her shoulder...

"Natalie, a girl like I have been calling your name for a few minutes now... "

"Baby, please I will call you back" she hung up to the call... "sorry Kaira, I didn't hear you...was talking to my boyfriend Jerk..."

"This is office hour Natalie...Common, we have a limited time to finish this design. And I'm so stressed out already... I can't wait to finish this design and get a hell out of here... we should focus on this design to finish it with the limited time we have"  Now I was really sounding very angry...

"Is just a phone call Kaira... that doesn't mean I have not been working... chill out girl...Why are you yelling at me?"

I was angry though, but I wasn't supposed to vest my frustration on Natalie...

"Look, I'm very sorry for the way I reacted okay... I'm really having a bad day..." I said

"Do you wanna talk about it...?" She asked placing her hand on my shoulder...

"Hmm... I think I need some fresh air... I will be right back..."

I left the studio room and went to the garden ... In the garden, so many thoughts were running through my mind... I just can't stop thinking about the kiss and Jordan's proposal... I was actually considering telling Jaxon about it... maybe I should tell him. Perhaps I dont know how he will feel... I can't even define his true feelings toward me.

As I walked passed the fountain situated in the middle of the garden, I spotted Jaxon at the end of the garden...

He was laughing continuously and I began to wonder or imagined the kinda person he was talking to in my head...I have never seen him laugh like that before... As I approach the end of the garden, the last word I heard before he hung up the call was " I love you too". Those were the words I heard before he ended the call.

Immediately jealousy took over me. My day was just getting worse. I haven't gotten over the incident that happened in Jordan's office, and now this... I wanted to ask who was that but decided to remain calm because my heart was heavy already.

"Hey" I was kinda looking a bit angry. I guess he noticed it because it was badly written all over my face...

"Hey, dear..." He turned because he was facing behind the rose flowers by the east wings of the garden as he was making the call...

"I didn't notice you coming," he said with a smile but I didn't bother to reciprocate back...

"So, was that your girlfriend...???" I asked...

"Who...?"

"The lady you just spoke to on the phone"

"You mean Ariana???"

"I don't know her name. I just asked"

"Okay, calm down. I will answer your questions."

"Nevermind, is none of my business"

Who am I kidding by saying it ain't my business? Deep down I was really hurting...

"But...." He wanted to say something but I raised my hand and stopped him from talking

"Don't explain because I don't care Jaxon..."

He caught my hand quickly and draw me close to him...

"Ariana is my cousin..."

"Common is that the lies you want to go with...?"

"I'm not lying kaira. We can call her back if you want to... Ariana is my first cousin. We were in third grade together. I think I was 11 the last time I met her but we do keep in touch via calls and text messages..."

He reached out, wrapped his arm around my waist, and pull me closer to him...

"I can't lie to you Kaira... I wouldn't do that" He whispered, his lips barely touching my earlobe...

"Okay, I trust you..." I said nervously, unable to tame the wild monster in me...

"Thank you...so how is your day going...???"

"Whenever I bumped into your big brother, my day always becomes a nightmare..."

"Don't let him ruin your day... My brother can be a bit skeptical and tough sometimes but he is also the most fragile soul I have ever met... He has just been through a lot lately..."

I can't believe he used those adjectives to qualify Jordan's arrogance and stupidity... Well, he"s his brother therefore he knew him better...

"Well, I might be having a bad day but with you here, I am fine..."
