Blake's POV

Sunday night

The silence in the car stretched between us, I hadn't seen much of Cassie today. as I had a early morning golf game with my project managers, then straight to the office afterward to tackle paperwork I'd been putting off. I'd meant to get home early, give us time before dinner. Instead, I'd barely made it back with enough time to shower and change.

She sat beside me in the back seat, her profile illuminated intermittently by passing streetlights. The midnight blue dress

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 99

Fawn's POVThat stung. I knew I shouldn't let it, but it did. I didn't look up at him, just undid the button, then the next one. "I can't explain what happened to me in that coma, Blake. I can't tell you why I'm different or how I'm different or if it's permanent. All I can tell you is that right now, in this moment, I want you. And I think you want me too. Can't we just live in the moment? Life has no guarantees. Either of us could die tomorrow. If I turn back into the evil witch you hate so much, you can divorce me."His other hand moved to my hip, his grip firm. "This is a mistake.""Probably." I finished unbuttoning his shirt, pushing it open to reveal the hard planes of his chest. "But we're going to make it anyway. I need you."Blake's eyes darkened, that careful control starting to slip. "You're playing with fire.""Then burn me. Just make it good," I whispered. I could feel my nipples as they beaded in my bra, already so sensitive, begging for his touch. He made a sound low in

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 98

Fawn's POVHe stood behind his massive desk, phone still in hand from whatever call I'd interrupted, watching me with those sharp gray eyes that saw too damn much.I stepped inside, closing the door on Melissa standing outside judging me, then made a split-second decision. I turned back and locked the door with a decisive click before facing Blake again.Blake's eyebrow rose. "Really?"I shrugged. "Let's just say I trust Melissa even less than I trusted Lena. She'll find any reason to walk in here. Probably with some urgent document that absolutely can't wait for your signature."Blake's jaw tightened slightly. "She's my assistant. She has a right to access my office.""Not when your wife is here," I said sweetly, moving to set the bag of food and coffee down on his desk. "Unless you want her barging in while we're having a private conversation? I mean I'm sure she would be dying to join us.""Is that what we're having?" Blake moved around the desk, his movements almost predatory. I c

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 97

Fawn's POV The elevator doors opened onto the executive floor, and I stepped out, balancing the coffee carrier and bag of food. I turned left and saw a set of double doors, the only set I could see, and headed in that direction. One door was open, so I just walked straight in. She sat at a large desk just inside the room. Another set of double doors sat on her right. They had to lead to Blake's office. She was typing away on her computer with perfectly manicured nails. She looked up as I approached, and I watched her expression shift from professional politeness to thinly veiled hostility in the space of a heartbeat. Interesting. So that's how we're playing this. Oh, goodie, this was going to be so much fun. I had forgotten about her. "Mrs. Huntington," she said, her smile not reaching her eyes. "I wasn't aware you had an appointment." "I don't need an appointment to see my husband," I said pleasantly, setting the coffee carrier down on the edge of her desk. "Is he available?" Me

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 96

Fawn's POVI stayed in my room until I was sure Blake had left for the day. I'd opened my door a few times to check. Only when I was one hundred percent sure he wasn't in the penthouse would I leave my room. I knew I was acting like a coward, but I had no way of explaining last night to him."Who are you?" The words he had said in the car had almost made me freak out. We hadn't been around each other all that much, but he was starting to see the cracks in my act.I pressed my palms against my eyes, trying to push away the exhaustion. I hadn't slept. Every time I'd closed my eyes, I'd seen Blake's expression at dinner. The confusion and suspicion. The way he'd looked at me like he was trying to solve a puzzle he didn't want the answer to.He was getting too close to the truth. And I still didn't know what would happen when he figured it out. It wasn't if, it was when. Because I couldn't hold it together much longer.Would he believe me? Would he think I was insane when I told him I lov

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 95

Richard's POVI ended the call with Melissa and set my phone down on the desk, staring at it with growing irritation. The stupid fucking bitch was panicking. I could hear it in her voice, in the way she'd demanded reassurance, in how quickly she'd called me the moment Blake did anything even remotely suspicious.Panicked people were dangerous. Panicked people made mistakes, and mistakes left trails.I leaned back in my chair, fingers drumming against the armrest as I thought through the situation. Melissa had been useful, extremely useful. She'd given me access to Blake's business dealings, his vulnerabilities. She'd made it possible to set up the Nakamura situation in the first place. But useful didn't mean irreplaceable. And it certainly didn't mean trustworthy. She actually believed I was going to give her some cushy executive position when this was all over. That I'd honor whatever vague promises I'd made to keep her motivated.Delusional. She had betrayed her boss as if I would h

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 94

Melissa's POVI stared at my computer screen as Blake left the office. 'Security matter.'Blake's words echoed in my head. They had seemed casual and light, like it was nothing. Just routine. Blake often met with Nathan over different things from time to time, so why did this meeting feel like more?Blake hadn't acted in a way that should worry me. Or was he hiding something? My stomach twisted with acid burn. Should I be worried? Could he possibly know? No. No, I'd been careful. So careful.I'd arrived at the office well before the meeting on Saturday, early enough that the overnight security guard had barely glanced at me, too interested in his portable TV. Just another dedicated executive assistant catching up on weekend tasks. Nothing unusual. And I'd stayed late after, long after Blake and his Japanese guests had left, making sure there was distance between the meeting and my departure. Making sure no one would connect the dots.I'd even been smart about entering my office. The c

Fawn's POVBecause he dipped his head, closing that last inch between us, and his mouth found mine. The first kiss in the hospital had been different; all shock and adrenaline and pent-up everything. This one landed slower… but it hit just as hard.I made a small sound without meaning to, something

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 6

Fawn’s POVOf course it was psych time. We’d done the poking, the tapping, the lights-in-the-eyes; now they needed to make sure I wasn’t going to flip a table or start speaking in tongues. Fair, I guess. But who could blame me for being a little freaked out? I was a body snatcher.“As long as you’re

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 5

Fawn’s POVBy mid-morning, I’d learned three things. One: hospital gowns were designed by people who hated joy. I mean, who likes their ass on show? Unless you were a stripper, that is. I had never seen a stripper, but they did shake their bare asses in men’s faces from what I understand. It’s how t

  • Awakened For Sin   Chapter 4

Fawn’s POVI waited until the room cleared, until the last nurse checked my vitals and promised to be right back, before carefully swinging my legs over the side of the bed. My muscles responded with surprising strength. Yeah, I was a little shaky, but nothing like what six months of bed rest should
