Kiara’s POV

Of all the ways I thought tonight would end, best believe this kiss wasn't one of them. Hell,I'd been scared that Darius had been lurking in front of my door for quite some time now, and how their fuck did I show him that I wasn't exactly pleased with it?

I kissed him.

I fucking kissed the man like my life depended on it.

His lips moved over mine with such reverence. It felt more like he was worshipping me more than anything else. His tongue slowly pushed into my mouth and the moan that slid past my lips was priceless.

It echoed all around us, while it sailed up to the roof to make its nest there. His hands cupped my cheeks and his fingers trailed around my neck at my nape before he spoke.

“Kiara.” His voice was low, so low it made my toes curl. He didn't say anything else after that, but I didn't miss the way his hand slowly slid down my side.

He wasn't as free as he used to be with me, and I wondered if that had anything to do with the fact that I'd told him I

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 217

Kiara's POV The silence in the room returned after Hazel’s footsteps faded down the corridor, but it was no longer the same silence as before. This one was alive, thrumming against my skin like static, heavy with the knowledge that he was still there. I tried to shake it off, but the more I tried, the harder it became. I couldn't see him, but it still didn't stop his presence from being known. Perhaps it had everything to do with the fact that I knew he was the alpha, or not, but whatever it was, it made his aura stronger than the usual kind. It seeped in from underneath the door, through the cracks in the walls, and into the room and my nostrils. The said aura tickled my skin, and I couldn't deny the fact that it actually felt familiar. I could feel him, no, sense him, lingering just beyond the door.Alpha Darius. The title rolled around in my head, strange and too sharp, like it didn’t fit yet somehow belonged. There was something about that title that I couldn't place my fing

Kiara's POV The silence pressed too heavy against my ears. I'd heard that silent moments often tended to be comfortable, but right now, I wasn't sure I shared in that sentiment at all. The silence around me wasn't the least bit equivalent to peace. If anything, there was more chaos in the so called quiet than any other period in my life, and I couldn't help but wonder why. I really did try my best to get rid of it. Earlier, I'd started drumming my fingers against the bed side table, but it was only so long before my fingers hurt and went numb. I'd tried humming, but my throat dried almost immediately, and at a point, I'd even started whistling, but nothing seemed to be working. It didn't help that my mind was a whirlwind of emotions as well. I kept hearing my own voice from earlier, sharp and foreign in my mouth. Who are you?It was one thing to have woken up from something I didn't think I was going to survive. Till now, I still couldn't find the right surfs to describe what t

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 215

Darius' POV The doors to the chamber slammed shut behind me, their echo still rattling in my skull. I'd pushed it that hard that the echo could be heard from a million miles away, but believe me when I said I didn't care. Not one bit. If I could, I wouldn't mind burning down that chamber in particular. Yes, it wasn't going to solve anything, but at least it would give me an avenue to get all of this pent out anger out of my system. Fucking council members. All around me, my surroundings blurred, but I wasn't bothered at all. With the amount of anger boiling in my veins, I knew for a fact that I could get to my destination a million times and still not get lost. With each step I took, I only felt my anger multiplying. I really did try to keep it down, but my jaw was clenched so tight it ached. There was no time to stew, no time to do anything at all. One week. That’s all they’d given me, and if I wasted even a second, they’d snatch her out from under me.I pivoted on my heel an

Darius' POV The chamber stank of old stone and older fear., and if that wasn't more than enough to have me spinning on my heels and walking out of here faster than the speed of light, then I had no idea what else would suffice. My eyes took in the damned place, and even though I'd been in here so many times, I couldn't exactly say I'd gotten used to it. Torches hissed against the walls, shadows curling long and thin, and every set of eyes locked on me like blades. They thought they finally had me cornered, but they were about to see that they were dead wrong, and had actually just shot themselves in the foot with this stupid meeting they'd set up. If it wasn't obvious by now,I didn't want to be here. I wasn't looking for a vacation spot, but anywhere aside from the four corners of this council chamber would suffice. After the unfortunate turn of events today, all I wanted , really wanted, was to be alone. It sounded strange and probably stupid, but I still couldn't believe Kiar

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 213

Darius' POV I didn’t know how I made it to the end of the hallway. Heck, I didn't even know how I was still up and surviving right now. If someone had whispered the words to me, or had predicted that this would be my father, then best believe that I would have laughed their heads off. I wouldn't even be mad that they had the guts to walk up to me with such bullshit. Instead of punishing them, best believe that I would tell the kitchen to prepare their favorite meal for them because whoever it was,was probably delirious from hunger and nothing else. If that had happened though, I'm sure they would be the ones to have the last laugh, and not me. My boots dragged more than they stepped, like the weight in my chest was chained to the floor. The world blurred around me, faces ducking out of sight, whispers slithering away into corners, but I heard none of it. All I saw was her eyes. Those empty eyesBlank, and staring at me like there was never a thing between us. I never for one day t
