The night after the gathering, I barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Zach’s wolf again, those glowing, merciless eyes, the strength that had shaken the hall, the way he’d thrown me into the wall without hesitation.

And then the way he’d softened.

It wasn’t fear that kept me awake. It was determination.
