“How is his condition doctor?” I asked quietly as the doctor flipped through my mate’s medical report.

“His head didn't get hurt badly. No serious injury.” he finally said, scanning the last page before setting it down.

A small breath of relief escaped me. “Doctor, he said he doesn't remember anything.”

“Maybe it happened because of the hit on his head. Sometimes it happens,” he explained calmly, as if memory loss was a routine symptom.

“Then when will he get his memory back?” I asked, hoping for something specific. Something reassuring.

“We can't tell any specific time. Sometimes it takes one week, one month, one year or more.”

I sighed, disappointment and worry knotting together inside my chest.

“Okay, thank you Doctor.” I took the reports from him and stepped out of the cabin.

Outside, my mate stood beside Sadie, waiting for me. He looked composed, still, but his expression gave nothing away. Sadie immediately walked forward.

“What did the doctor say?” she asked.
