I never thought eating dinner with someone could be this… weirdly warm. We didn’t say much at first, and normally that would drive me crazy, but somehow, the silence wasn’t awkward.

Leo, I can tell, wasn’t much of a talker.

Mr. Mysterious.

He had chosen to sit adjacent to me rather than across—for his own reasons.

His gaze was fixed on the food for a while; I had no idea what was going on in his mind as he stared at the food.

However, when his side dimple flashed, I was relieved it was all good.

He took a bite.

I held my breath.

Please don’t spit it out.

He chewed slowly, then paused. His eyes met mine.

“Wow,” he said, sitting up straighter. “This is actually… really good.”

I blinked, caught off guard.

“Really? You’re not just saying that to be polite?”

He shook his head slowly, chewing thoughtfully.

“No. It’s really good. The fish is soft, flavorful. Rice… fluffy. You seasoned everything just right.”

My cheeks burned a little. I tried to hide my smile behind a spoonful

“Hear me out, Char....you’re beautiful, Charlotte. I like my women chubby. Don’t leave. Stay with me a little longer.” That was all my mind playing tricks on me. Leo didn't say a word… instead, he let go of my hand, gently, awkwardly. His eyes shifted away like he didn’t know what to do next. It was fine. It was okay. I mean—what did I expect? A confession? A romantic moment? Of course, none of that would happen, and it’s okay. “I’ll go get ready for the acting practice,” I said softly, trying to sound composed. I picked up the empty plates to fill the awkward silence that followed. He nodded with a quiet smile, polite. I walked away immediately before my overthinking could burst into tears. In the kitchen, I slid the plates into the dishwasher, trying not to make a sound. “Did you enjoy your dinner time with Boss, ma’am?” KC’s voice rang out cheerily, startling me so bad I nearly dropped a plate. “Jesus—KC!” I hissed, hand on my chest. “My apologies, ma’am. That was not my

I pushed my fork around the edge of the plate, pretending to be full. Leo had finished his plate a while ago and was sipping water slowly, his eyes flicking toward me every now and then. “You done with eating?” he asked softly. I nodded, a little too quickly. “Yeah. I’m good.” He tilted his head, gaze drifting to the little silver case sitting carelessly beside my napkin. “You took something before dinner,” he said. “That wasn’t… vitamins, was it?” I glanced at the case. “…It’s an appetite suppressant.” His eyes held mine longer than I could stand. He didn’t say anything—just… looked at me, like he was trying to read something between the words I hadn’t said yet. “Why?” That one word hit harder than it should have. Why? Why?! Is that even a question? Isn't it obvious? I gave a shaky laugh. “Because… without it I might eat more and gain more. I gain weight in a flash, but losing it feels like a thousand years—an impossible journey—so I take pills like this to help me wi

I gasped, startled. I immediately tried to pull my hand away, but he didn’t let go. His eyes opened slowly, drowsy. My face turned red at our eye contact—damn, his sleepy eyes are mesmerizing. “I am sorry.” His voice rumbled with an after-sleep effect. That sexiness in his voice. I must stay focused. Thank God I’m not ovulating. Oh God, give me the strength to resist this charmer. It will only end in tears, Charlotte. Jun is nowhere close to his attractiveness. You have to be realistic. You can only be his friend, not a lover. There's no way it’s possible—and it's okay. There's someone for you out there. He is a nice person, you just got to be a good person to him too, until you part ways. Why am I overthinking again?! “I am sorry.” His voice came again. “Why… why are you apologizing?” I stammered, my heart racing. “I should’ve told you I was leaving for an urgent meeting. I didn’t mean to lock you in here, it's not right. And... I’m sorry about Ryan. I didn’t know he’d

CHARLOTTE’S POV My stomach woke up before I did. I cracked my eyes open, feeling groggy and mildly confused. I am still in this hell paradise? So it wasn't a dream. I cursed inwardly and sat up. A blanket was tucked around me neatly. I don’t remember sleeping with a blanket but waved it off. I glanced at my phone screen. It was late at night. “I still can’t believe what’s happening. Locked up in this place—this is no longer funny.” I slid out of bed and padded barefoot to the window. Outside, the view was unreal. A thousand glittering lights scattered across the skyline and the water. I sighed, palms pressed to the cold glass. How on earth am I going to escape this place? The ache in my belly reminded me I hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast. I decided to go to the kitchen and have a look. Maybe I can get something to eat. The automated lights flicked on as soon as I stepped in. I opened the fridge and was surprised at how full it was. “Oh, you’re awa

suddenly, my phone buzzed beside me. I glanced down at the screen and saw that the caller was Ryan. I hesitated — I was too angry to talk to him at the moment — but eventually, I picked up. “What?” I said flatly. “Yo—Leo, man,” Ryan's voice came through, slightly panicked. “The shower just stopped mid-rinse. No warning. And the lights in here are freaking out—what the hell is going on?” “You insulted my guest, Ryan.” There was a pause. Then an awkward laugh. “Guest? You’re talking about that chick?” he scoffed. “C’mon, man. She’s not even—look, I came to talk. We’ve been friends for almost a month. You’re gonna cut me off over a hippo?” I inhaled sharply, my eyes narrowing. “I’m not in the mood to talk to you,” I replied coldly. “I’m your only friend, Leo! Don’t let some hormonal sob story ruin that. You know she’s gonna ruin your image, right? Imagine you with that cow in public… even if it’s an experiment, you went too low with the standard.” My grip on the ph
