"If we're going to do this properly," Sarah said,

"you need to understand exactly how deep this betrayal goes. Sit back down, Laila. There's more you need to see."

I sat back on the log, my heart still racing from the revelations about Damien and my uncle.

Thomas reached into his own bag and pulled out a worn notebook.

"After the warrior died, we started our own investigation. We couldn't do it openly - the Alpha had already dismissed our concerns as paranoia."

"But we gathered what evidence we could."

"What did you find?"

"Patterns," Rose said.

"Terrible, damning patterns."

Thomas opened the notebook, revealing pages filled with dates, names and locations written in cramped handwriting.

"Every family with special bloodline abilities that has been attacked in the last twenty years," he explained, pointing to the list.

"We tracked them all."

I scanned the names.

There were dozens of them, maybe fifty or more families listed.

"All of these people were killed?"

"Most of them," Sarah

The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife as Kieran stared at me, his silver eyes blazing with fury and something else - fear."Inside. Now." His voice carried the full weight of his alpha authority."We can talk out here," I said, standing my ground. I wasn't going to let him drag me back to that locked room."This is not a discussion, Laila. You deliberately disobeyed my direct order, you escaped from a secured room, and you've been missing for hours. Do you have any idea how worried—" He stopped himself, his jaw clenching. "Get inside.""No."The pack members behind Kieran shifted uncomfortably. Elena looked satisfied, like she had been proven right about me being trouble. A few others looked concerned, probably worried about how this confrontation would end."Kieran," Marcus said quietly, stepping forward. "Maybe we should all calm down and talk about this rationally.""Stay out of this, Marcus," Kieran snapped without taking his eyes off me. "This is betwe

The walk back through the forest felt different this time. Every step I took seemed to make the plants around me respond. Flowers that should have been closed for the night opened as I passed. Vines shifted slightly in my direction, as if drawn to my presence. My emotional state was affecting the natural world around me, and I could feel it happening in real-time.I stopped walking and looked down at my hands. In the moonlight, I could see a faint silvery glow emanating from my skin. It pulsed gently, like a heartbeat. This was what Sarah had been talking about. My powers were growing stronger during emotional stress. All the anger, fear, and determination I was feeling was feeding into my abilities, making them more potent.I held my hand out toward a nearby sapling that looked sickly and struggling. Without even trying, I could sense what was wrong with it - root rot from too much water, a fungal infection spreading through its base.As I focused on the tree, I felt energy f

"Before we begin your training," Sarah said, "there's something else you need to understand about how Seraphina really died.""Something that will change how you see everything that's happened since."She reached into a worn leather bag beside her and pulled out a small bundle wrapped in dark cloth."What is that?" I asked."Evidence," Thomas said grimly. "Evidence that Kieran refused to look at, evidence that proves Seraphina wasn't killed by enemy packs like the official reports claim."Sarah unwrapped the cloth, revealing several items: a torn piece of fabric, a strange silver medallion, and what looked like a photograph."The warrior who survived the attack managed to grab these before he escaped," Rose explained. "He gave them to us before he died, begging us to make sure the truth came out."I leaned forward to examine the items more closely. The fabric was black with an unusual pattern stitched in silver thread - not like anything I had seen pack members wear."This fabric d

The fire crackled between us as the three elders settled in to tell me about Seraphina. I pulled my jacket tighter around myself, both from the cool night air and from the anticipation of finally learning the truth."Where should we begin?" Sarah asked, her weathered hands folded in her lap."The beginning," I said. "Tell me about who Seraphina really was."Thomas poked at the fire with a long stick, sending sparks dancing up into the darkness. "Seraphina Moon was the most gifted seer our pack had seen in generations. She could look at a person and see their entire future spread out like a map.""She could see the future?" I asked."Not exactly," Rose explained. "She saw potential futures - the paths that were most likely to unfold based on people's current choices. But the future could always change if people made different decisions.""That's why her visions about you were so important," Sarah added. "She saw multiple possible futures for you, and most of them ended badly."A c

  • BLOOD MOON BETRAYAL: A FORBIDDEN WEREWOLF ROMANCE.   CHAPTER THIRTY THREE: NIGHT WANDERINGS

The pack territory looked completely different in the moonlight. What had seemed welcoming and safe during the day now felt mysterious and slightly dangerous.I stood at the base of the oak tree for several minutes, trying to decide where to go. I couldn't stay near the pack house - someone might see me and report back to Kieran. But I also couldn't leave the territory entirely. I had nowhere else to go.I decided to head toward the eastern edge of Shadow Ridge lands, where I remembered seeing some older cabins during one of my walks with Marcus. If there were pack members living there, maybe they would be willing to talk to me without immediately running to tell their Alpha. The forest was alive with night sounds - owls hooting, small animals rustling through the underbrush, the distant howl of wolves on patrol. Every sound made me jump, but I forced myself to keep walking.I had been walking for about twenty minutes when I smelled smoke. Following the scent, I found a small ca
