“We are here! Suit yourselves, people!”

The driver's voice cut through my sleep like a stone through glass.

I blinked awake and sat upright, disoriented for a second before remembering where I was.

The long journey had left my neck stiff and my body aching. Outside the bus window, the city stretched before me in all its noisy glory.

People moved in every direction. Cars crawled through traffic. Street vendors called out to passing customers. Life seemed to spill from every corner of the place.

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   THE WORST DAYS

“Hey, Get over there!”The boss's voice cut through the noise of the restaurant, making me stop halfway across the room.I bit back a groan. At this point, it had to be the thirtieth time he'd called me for an errand in the past month. Since morning, I had barely sat down for a second. It was always one thing after another.Mylar, clean that table, carry those drinks, take that order..There were four employees working there, yet somehow it felt like I was the only one actually doing anything.Sweat dripped down the side of my face. My feet were killing me, and my back felt ready to snap in half.“Hey! What's with the delay?” a customer called from one of the tables.“I’m coming already,” I replied, forcing a smile that I definitely didn't feel.I picked up a tray and hurried over.Just get through today, that was all I wanted.I had barely taken three steps when something caught my foot.My body jerked forward. For one horrible second, I tried to regain my balance, but i couldn't, t

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   A BORROWED PEACE

The people around us quickly lost interest and returned to whatever they had been doing before the interruption.Everyone except the man.His eyes moved from Enisa to me, and from the look on his face, it wasn't hard to figure out who she had been talking about."How dare you call me that?" I snapped, folding my arms across my chest.Enisa let out a short laugh. The kind that instantly made your blood boil."Why?" she asked. "Did I lie?"She tilted her head and looked me up and down."Who even knows what you're doing here? Or who you've come looking for this time."The smirk sitting on her face was enough to make my stomach churn.I clenched my jaw. Some people just had a gift for getting under your skin. Before I could respond, the man stepped between us."Excuse me, ladies."His voice wasn't loud, but it carried enough authority to cut through the tension."This isn't the place for this."I felt his hand lightly touch my arm, just enough to guide me away.I opened my mouth, ready to

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   CAUGHT IN PLAIN SIGHT

We hadn't driven very far when our cab suddenly jolted forward from a hard impact.I grabbed the edge of my seat as the driver slammed a hand against the steering wheel."What the hell!"The traffic ahead hadn't moved an inch. We'd been sitting there for several minutes, waiting for the road to clear, when someone decided to crash into us from behind.I twisted around to see who it was, but the vehicle behind us had a black mesh covering the rear windows, making it impossible to see inside. The driver beside me was already muttering curses under his breath.Without another word, he pushed open his door and climbed out.I sighed and rolled down the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the person responsible. The moment the other driver stepped out, my stomach dropped. No way.My eyes widened, it was him!The young man from the other day.Zayn's driver. For a second, I just stared. What were the chances?Seriously, were these people some kind of wizards?Every time I thought I'd finally

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   THE. CALM BEFORE THE STORM

“Yeah? What are you going to do about it? Run to your mama and cry?” Enisa sneered. The moment those words left her mouth, something inside me snapped. She grabbed Seth's hand and tried pulling him away, but he immediately jerked free, disgust flashing across his face. Before I could even think, I stormed toward her and slapped her hard across the face. The sound cracked through the club. Her head snapped sideways. For a second, everything around us seemed to freeze. The music was still blasting, people were still dancing, but all I could hear was my own breathing.Enisa slowly turned back to me, one hand pressed against her cheek. Red fingerprints were already blooming across her skin.“How dare you!” she shrieked. She lunged toward me, i didn't move or even flinch. My fists clenched at my sides as I stood my ground.Let her try, i was done being the one who walked away. Before she could reach me, Seth stepped between us and grabbed her arm.“Enough!”The sharpness in his voice ma

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   AT THE 8:30's

“You went through all that, Mylar?” Aunt Dana asked quietly. Before I could answer, she pulled me into a hug.I closed my eyes for a moment, letting myself sink into the warmth. It had been a long time since anyone had held me like that.“You shouldn't trust men so easily,” she said, gently rubbing my back.“I know, Aunt Dana.” I managed a small shrug. “I never wanted any of it to happen.”The memories still sat heavily in my chest, but I forced a smile.“Maybe it's for the best. At least I'm far away from them now.”Aunt Dana pulled back and studied my face carefully.“Yeah,” she said softly. “And now you're with me, okay?”I nodded. She kissed my forehead and ran her fingers through my hair, the gesture oddly comforting. For the first time in weeks, I felt like I could breathe.“Mylar! Come on, we don't have all day!”Aunt Dana's voice came from the doorway.I looked down at the pair of boots she had bought for me earlier and groaned. No matter how hard I tried, my foot refused to s

Street vendors called out to passing customers. Life seemed to spill from every corner of the place. For the first time in what felt like forever, I wasn't looking at familiar streets.I had actually done it.I swallowed hard and grabbed my bag.The moment my feet touched the ground, a strange mix of excitement and fear settled inside my chest. The city was bigger than I had imagined. Louder too. Everything felt fast, alive, overwhelming.I tightened my grip on my bag and walked toward a small waiting area nearby.Taking a deep breath, I reached into my bag and pulled out my phone. My fingers

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   THE PRICE OF THAT ONE NIGHT

I stretched the envelope out in my hands, staring at it like it carried answers I wasn’t ready for. My fingers tightened around the edges unconsciously, crumpling the paper a little. The room suddenly felt too quiet, too still, and the longer I looked at the envelope, the heavier my chest became.

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   RECKLESS DESIRE

“Look, stop all this,” I said softly, slowly taking his hands off me.“It’s weird,” he said, dragging his fingers through his hair before letting out a breath. “But I know you're just being hard on yourself. Maybe you should stop thinking too much and just live in the moment, Mylar.”Mylar.My hear

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   ALMOST OR ALREADY

Everything seemed to be happening faster than I expected. Maybe hearts really do bleed more when you keep trying to bury everything inside. Maybe pain grows teeth when you pretend it isn't there, sitting quietly in your chest while it slowly eats through you.It all started with one sip. Then anoth

  • BOUND BY BETRAYAL, MARRIED TO THE COLD CEO   THE PROBLEM WITH FEELING SAFE

“Why is the room so dim?” I asked, peeking inside and trying to see him properly through the darkness.I barely took another step before the lights suddenly came on.“Ah!” I squeezed my eyes shut immediately and covered them with my hand. “Ouch! What was that for?”A quiet chuckle reached my ears,
