Selene

The air smelled like wild roses and lemon grass.

I blinked into brightness, my limbs heavy but painlessly I flexed my toes and beneath me was the feel of soft damp grass. I looked around me.

I was in a garden.

This place was so beautiful, glistening with dew even though I hadn’t felt a single drop fall.

“Where am I…?” I whispered, the echo of my voice felt too loud here bouncing through the air.

The grass beneath me was cool and soft like velvet, as I walked around slowly. The garden stretched infinitely, blossoms of impossible colors unfurling as if they were breathing.

A strange peace settled over me.

I had never seen this place before, but I felt like I belonged here. How could somewhere so strange, feel so much like home?

My eyes were as wide as saucers when I saw her.

My heart clenched. “Mom?”

I called out my voice breaking. This was impossible.

How could this even be?

She stood beneath a flowering tree, sunlight dancing through the branches behind her. Her dark hair fram

  • BOUND BY THE MOON   TELL ME WHAT YOU’RE HIDING

Kairos“Are you ok?”Selene just nodded quietly and snuggled deeper into the duvet. My brows wrinkled with worry. Something had been up with her for days now and I wonder for how long I would be able to hold out before I finally snapped.Since the annoying sunlight form the sun had decided to wake me up already I guess there was no fucking point going back to sleep now.“Are you ok?”Selene barley nodded with her eyes still closed and just adjusted her position to get more comfortable.“Let me go get you some tea” I said and left the room.Something was off with her. Deep in my guts I knew it, scratch that I was fucking sure if it. And it seemed that Vane felt the same way as well. He was pacing in my mind, growling in frustration every two seconds.“Stop that” I growled but he ignored me"They’re hiding something." His voice echoed with the raw certainty of instinct. "Nadine’s too quiet. Selene’s heartbeat is off."I made her a hot cup of ginger tea and when I got back to the room,

  • BOUND BY THE MOON   PLAGUED BY NIGHTMARES

NovaI sat by the window staring into the vast night. The moonlight slipped in through the crack in my window, casting pale streaks across the hardwood floor of my bedroom.Earlier, I was curled in bed, the covers bunched around my waist, damp from the sweat of yet another nightmare. My chest rose and fell in uneven beats, heart thrashing like it wanted to escape the cage of my ribs and crawl out through my mouth. Which now that I fully think about it, sounds extremely disgusting but fuck that’s how I felt.Sleep never came easy anymore these days.Every time since that damned night, whenever I closed my eyes, I was dragged back into the darkness the place where she waited, and I was brought face to face with her.The witch. Her voice still lingered in my ears like smoke. Whispering. Threatening. Reminding me of all the things I’d done. All the things I could still do."You were born to serve chaos, Nova," she would hiss. "You are nothing without me. You need me."And the worst part?

  • BOUND BY THE MOON   LET’S WORK TOGEHTER

RonanThey were late.Of fucking course. I mean what else was expected form creatures like them. The conference hall in the capital was lined with guards mine, not theirs. I didn’t trust vampires enough to leave my flanks exposed, especially not after finding one of my warriors drained to the bone near the border.I paced the length of the stone floor, jaw tight, waiting. The double doors creaked open at last, and I was fucking pissed.I expected to see the leader of the Clan of Vampire or as they liked to call it the Vampiric Order. Like as though it would make them any more dignified. You survive on blood, a name change would not hide that. Anyways, who I expected to see was Leonardo the First, but instead he sent his son who was also named Leonardo the Second. What was the difference?I exhaled through my nose. Typical.Leonardo was tall, slender and handsome for someone who looked so pale. What am I kidding his complexion didn’t take anything from his beauty if anything made him

  • BOUND BY THE MOON   A NEW DAWN

SeleneToday was one of the lazy days.It was one of those days where I just wanted to lay down and do absolutely nothing. And weirdly I had been feeling like this for a couple of days now. Sick, moody and just all round lazy.I closed my eyes trying to force myself back to sleep when I heard it, faint, steady but I knew what it was.It was a second heartbeat.I closed my eyes again, trying to steady my breathing. Every instinct, every part of me knew this was real. I was pregnant, with Ronan’s child. My hand trembled as it rested just below my navel. And a smile slowly grew on my face, there was a miracle growing inside me.“What would Ronan think of this?”Would he be as excited as I am or would he be wary? Thoughts like this had begun to plague my mind making my smile falter.A knock interrupted the stillness. It was soft, cautious.I knew it was Nova from her scent, but her knock was all cautious and careful. Maybe that had a lot to do with the fact that I was no longer in my ow

  • BOUND BY THE MOON   MINDY’S FIRST SHIFT

Selene“Come on my darling today we’ll be spending some time together”“Yayy”She was hopping around with an excited smile.“Be careful don’t fall”I said and engulfed her in a hug.My heart melted at the sight of her smile. It was so precious to see that it was little things like this that were still bale to make her smile brightly especially after the fact that she had been through so much for someone her age.Mindy was a light that shone so bright and I never wanted t see her light extinguished.“So where do you want to go?”I asked her and she put her hand on her chin and rubbed it as if she was thinking and about to make a tough decision but I knew what she would say it was her default answer anytime I asked her.“Ice-cream!”We both said it the same time and we burst out laughing.“Ok my little angel girl we are going for ice-cream” I said.We both got ready with me wearing a simple blue sundress and flats and Mindy put on a flower top and some jean shorts and her converse.Mind
