I looked at him... like, really looked at him. The smug, infuriatingly perfect curve of his jaw.

"I hate to admit it," I mumbled to myself, rolling my eyes so hard they actually ached, "but his plan was working and admitting it would just further justify his ego,"

“So I wouldn't.”

Carter didn't even try to hide his massive grin.

He killed the engine, turning completely in his seat to face me, resting one arm over the steering wheel.

"C'mon, you have to give me my flowers or something."

  • BOUND TO THE BILLIONAIRE CAPTAIN   Chapter 11

My fingers were digging into the thick hair at the base of Carter's neck, holding on for dear life as the entire fitting room tilted on its axis. I had completely forgotten where we were, who I was, or why we were even standing here in the first place. His mouth was hot, demanding, tasting like winter mint and pure, unadulterated adrenaline. He let out a low, sharp groan that vibrated straight through my chest, his hands sliding down my hips to grip my lower back, pulling me flush against him. The expensive silk dress was the only thing between us. Every single nerve ending in my body was on fire, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird.We were completely, helplessly lost in it...Until the heavy velvet curtain got yanked backward with a loud swoosh."Uhhhhhh... I am so sorry," a voice squeaked. We sprang apart so fast I nearly tripped over my own heels. A boutique assistant, this skinny guy holding a stack of garment bags, was standing dead in the doorway. I looked at him... like, really looked at him. The smug, infuriatingly perfect curve of his jaw."I hate to admit it," I mumbled to myself, rolling my eyes so hard they actually ached, "but his plan was working and admitting it would just further justify his ego,"“So I wouldn't.”Carter didn't even try to hide his massive grin. He killed the engine, turning completely in his seat to face me, resting one arm over the steering wheel. "C'mon, you have to give me my flowers or something.""Alright, as much as I hate to admit it your plan seems to be working." I sighed, crossing my arms over my chest to keep the aggressive AC from giving me goosebumps."Seems to be working?" Carter let out a loud, raspy laugh that bounced around the tight space of the car. "Mr Cool pants is literally stalking you. He barely noticed you a week ago, and now the guy is watching your stories three seconds after you post them. Dude is down bad."I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to fight the ridicul

Two hundred people. That is exactly how many students were sitting in this damn lecture hall... and every single one of them had their eyes glued to me.I stood there frozen at the top of the stairs, gripping the strap of my backpack so hard my knuckles were turning white. Down at the bottom of the steps stood Carter. He looked ridiculous... or insanely hot depending on who you asked... standing there holding a bouquet of red roses so massive it looked like he ripped an entire bush out of the ground. But the real problem wasn’t just the two hundred pairs of eyes. The real problem was Justin. He was standing right beside me, close enough that I could feel the heat radiating off his arm. I could hear his breathing hitch the second Carter stepped into the room.I forced myself to take a step down. Then another. Every single girl in the room was leaning over their desks, whispering behind their hands, while the guys were just smirking like this was some kind of reality TV show. C

"It's already getting late, I need to start going," I said, shoving my yellow legal pad into my canvas tote bag and pulling the zipper shut.Carter leaned back against his kitchen island, casually swirling an ice cube around in a glass of water like he hadn't just completely upended my entire life five minutes ago."Do you want me to drop you off?""No, I will drive home by myself."He tilted his head, pulling that irritating half-smirk he always wore on the rink. "You literally don't have a car, Hayesey. How are you going to drive home?""My bike obviously, dumbass.""Ohh," he grunted, setting his glass down on the black marble counter.I slung the bag over my shoulder and headed for the heavy front door, wanting to get out before he came up with another insane idea."I will pick you up after class tomorrow," Carter called out from behind me.I stopped with my hand on the metal door handle, turning my head around. "And why is that?""To take you shopping.""Ohh." I rolled my eyes,

The ringing stopped, but the absolute dead silence that followed was somehow ten times louder. I just stood there, staring at Carter. My brain was actively refusing to process the words that had just come out of his mouth. *He wants to meet my new fiancée tomorrow night.* My stomach completely dropped out of my body, leaving behind a cold, hollow cavern. "Tomorrow?" I choked out, my voice cracking like a puberty-stricken teenager. "Like... as in, twenty-four hours from now tomorrow?" "Less," Carter muttered, tossing the dark screen of his phone onto the glass coffee table. It landed with a heavy smack. "Dinner is at seven." I stared at his phone, then up at his face. The cocky, arrogant hockey captain from five minutes ago was completely gone. His jaw was clenched so tight the muscle fluttered wildly, and he was running a heavy hand through his damp hair, tugging at the roots like he wanted to rip them out. I literally felt the blood drain from my face. "Carter, I am a d

  • BOUND TO THE BILLIONAIRE CAPTAIN   Chapter 6: He wants to meet my new fiancée tomorrow night

I always knew rich people lived differently, but this was just stupid. My cheap canvas sneakers literally sank an entire inch deep into the plush white carpet of Carter Graham's penthouse apartment. I stood by the massive glass front door, clutching my worn out backpack to my chest, and just stared. Floor to ceiling windows wrapped around the entire living room, showing off a breathtaking view of the city skyline that probably cost more per month than my entire college tuition. The place smelled like expensive cedar wood, citrus, and money. Just raw, unfiltered money.I swallowed hard, my throat feeling completely dry. I was supposed to be here to tutor him, a clean win-win deal. He paid my rent and my tuition, and in exchange, I was going to force feed him enough basic psychology so he would not fail out of his sophomore year. Plus, the whole fake girlfriend thing to keep Justin on the hook. But right now, standing in his ridiculously huge living room, I felt entirely out of my
