I was enjoying a warm soak in the Jacuzzi, trying to enjoy a few minutes of peace, when the door swung open, and Zephyr walked in, tablet in hand.

"Lyla," he called. "You need to see this."

I sat up immediately, shifting closer. "What is it?" I asked.

His tone and manner of entry had given room for concern.

Zephyr sat on the edge of the tub and turned the tablet toward me.

A profile page filled the screen, featuring attached information about a young, attractive woman with short brown hair and a bright smile.

"This is Pauline Gingham," Zephyr said. "She was the head supervisor at the peach punch station during your Luna ceremony," he explained.

I leaned in closer, squinting at the image and trying to place her.

Her face was vaguely familiar, but slowly, it hit me.

"Yes. I think I remember her," I said softly. "She's the one who served me the drink that day."

After a short pause, Zephyr spoke again. "She's Alice's cousin."

I stared at the screen, speechless, my stomach churning wit

  • BRIDE OF WRATH    One Name

(A FEW DAYS LATER)It was the sixth anniversary of Zephyr's mother's death. The atmosphere in the mansion was sad.Zephyr had barely said a word all morning. He had been quiet and distant since the moment we woke up. I knew better than to push. This kind of pain wasn't something I could fix. I could only be there for him. He was in the greenhouse when I found him, already dressed in his black suit, standing still and staring down at a particular bed of plants: odd-looking things with silver-green leaves and tiny yellow buds. I moved beside him and slipped my arm around his waist. He didn't pull away, but instead, leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead. With a deep sigh, he turned to look back at the plants."She used to care for these so meticulously," he said softly. "Because Dad used to love them in a stew she made. No one else could get it right. Only her."I glanced down at the plants, not sure what to say yet. I tried to imagine his mother tending to them with loving ha

"Apologize to me," I whispered, unbuckling his belt slowly. He leaned back, his eyes trained on mine with a cocky, unapologetic glint."I'm sorry, mama," he drawled playfully, although I could feel the heat."You don't sound sorry," I said, still taking my time in unfastening his pants. "I'm not," he replied, still with that smirk.I fixed my straps and got off his lap, faking annoyance as I turned away.I'd barely made it two steps before I heard him push his chair back.Zephyr caught me by the waist, pulling me against him, before turning a little to clear the things on his table: files, books, papers, pens, with a glide of his arm. They scattered across the floor. He then lifted me and set me on the edge of the table, caging me in with his arms, as he leaned in."I love when you put up an attitude," he drawled sexily. "Especially a fake one."I blushed."You see, I just can't let you go, Wildflower, not especially after making such a mess on my pants," A hand slid between my thi

Troy sauntered into my office in his typical black suit, white shirt, and black tie, wearing an expression tight with irritation. He gave a respectful nod before speaking, going straight to the point. "Alice was right," he said bluntly. "Gavin might be our guy."I eased back into my chair. "Spill""I've gone over the Luna ceremony footage again. He's in almost every shot around the peach punch station, but he never looks directly at the cameras… not once. It's like he was deliberately avoiding them."Troy's voice carried a hint of frustration. "Always shifting, always turned away. Either his back's to us or he's glancing sideways."I straightened. "You have a visual?""Half," he replied. "It's not perfect, but thanks to Alpha Stefan's tech team in London, we managed to run a partial profile scan. Luckily, he had a distinct mole just above his right brow. That detail helped us narrow it down. We cross-referenced it with social records and general event employment databases."He handed

Waiting for Alice to make a mistake had led us nowhere.Patience had its limits. So when she didn't slip, we stopped waiting and decided to confront her instead. She showed up at the mansion dressed provocatively, under the impression that I'd summoned her for something else. But her confident smile dropped the moment she strutted into my study and saw Lyla seated beside me, with Troy and Garrett standing behind us, arms folded. Alice froze in the doorway, paling. "Alpha," she said, bowing her head stiffly. Her voice was ice-cold. Then with a reluctant mutter, she added, "Luna."Lyla rolled her eyes instantly at the sight of her outfit, but she didn't say a word.I gestured to the chair across from us."Take a seat, Alice."Her eyes shifted to Troy nervously, then to Garrett, before she slowly crossed the room and sat.Clearing her throat, she tried to sound curious, but her eyes were worried, and her entire body was tense. "Have I done something wrong?" she asked."You tell me,"

I jolted awake in the wee hours of the morning, my Lycan instincts alerting me that something was wrong. The next thing I knew, I was picking up a scent of unfamiliar wolves.Intruders. And I knew they weren't here for me. They were here for Athena.I threw the covers off me and got up. Lyla was still asleep, exhausted from the day's work, and I didn't want to bother her.I could take care of this as stealthily as possible, if my men hadn't already, but suddenly a loud crash broke through the silence. Lyla startled awake with a gasp."Shhh…" I raised a finger to my lips. "Stay here. And don't leave this room, no matter what."Her eyes were wide and terrified, but she nodded silently. "Be careful."I shifted partially, enough to heighten my strength, speed, and senses before moving. The first trail of blood I came across on the second floor was fresh, smearing along the tiles leading to the princess's room. I followed it quickly, stilling for a moment when I saw Yuri's body, slumped

Athena arrived the next morning, just after Lyla had left for work. She insisted it was time to return, that she'd missed her office, her routine… her staff. I'd missed mine too, but today, I stayed back. As the Alpha of this house, it was my responsibility to welcome a guest of Athena's stature. Troy stood beside me near the front entrance, with his arms crossed behind him, and the same unsmiling expression he always wore. Classic Troy.If he ever smiled unprovoked, hell would freeze over. The sound of tires on gravel drew our attention as a matte black cruiser pulled up the driveway and came to a stop. One of the guards got out first, moving to open the door. Athena stepped out gracefully, wearing a high-collared cream blouse tucked into wide-legged trousers, the colour matching her stilettos. Her silver hair was swept up into a loose bun, drawing attention to her neck and clavicle. Two guards and a maid who looked like she didn't want to be here followed behind. "Mr. Wrath,"
